This book is a highly readable and entertaining account of the co-evolution of the patent system and the life science industries since the mid-19th century. The pharmaceutical industries have their origins in advances in synthetic chemistry and in natural products research. Both approaches to drug discovery and business have shaped patent law, as have the lobbying activities of the firms involved and their supporters in the legal profession. In turn, patent law has impacted on the life science industries. Compared to the first edition, which told this story for the first time, the present edition focuses more on specific businesses, products and technologies, including Bayer, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, aspirin, penicillin, monoclonal antibodies and polymerase chain reaction. The Wendy House, Leeds University Union
Advantages: Great mix of people, music and cheap drinks
Disadvantages: Disadvantages? What are they then???
...itself has a 1200 capacity and there's always a nice interesting mix of people. There's a great big sound system, huge video screen, air conditioning and sweeties and balloons (yes, helium ones too if you want to go for the Mickey Mouse effect!) and TWO BARS!!!! There are five resident DJ's - three in room 1 and two in room 2 (Mutate). Music is a great mix of alternative, 80's and Goth in room 1...

Advantages: Excellent Atmosphere
Disadvantages: Too many students and not enough facilities

Well that just about rounds up my opinion on Leeds University, i recommend it to anyone as it has such a vibrant atmosphere for example last Christmas time there was Christmas music blaring out from the union and fake snow! All year round there is something exciting going on outside the union including a visit from the from the faggot family promoting...
