...I would just like to write a review on the benefits and/ or the downfalls of Lego, something that even at the age of 26 I do still enjoy playing with with my brother's four children - any comments, you will get a slap! Lego are those small little bricks that no doubt will have played a part in the life of any child, at some point during their early lives. It is something that has been around for many years, as my two older brothers (being 36 and 38) both also used to play with it themselves along with their own friends - in fact, most of mine was hand downs from them! There are many different bricks used in Lego, from rectangular bricks through to doors; windows; wheels, and even the bases on which to build your masterpieces on too have shown at the Tate Modern! In my opinion, Lego is an excellent way of encouraging a child...

Lego City Police Station - 7744 - Great addition to lego fans!

Advantages: Assembly in stages, easy to follow for older children/adults
Disadvantages: Base a bit floppy for moving the police station around

...My son got this Lego City Police Station for his 8th birthday. We paid £48.89 from Argos for it. It took me and my husband quite a while to help my son build it. But the end result was great. It comes in one box. Within the box are smaller bags. All the bags are numbered and all have a booklet inside for the particular part of the police station/vehicle. None of the items were missing, there were a few bits over though, which come in handy for the lego box! It is really easy to follow (for an adult), but I don't think my 8 year old would have had the knowledge or patience to build it himself. Some children his age probably could, but I'd say any child would probably need a bit of help from an adult. I owned a big box of it and I would dissaper into my bedroom for hours making houses to play pretend, I would see how high I could build a tower up the wall, make cars and casltes. So when I met my current partner it was great his son loved lego it made it so much easier for me and him to relate to each other too we would spend hours building things and using our imagination. I suspect in the Amazon add they have got the wrong picture and number of the box with the price 19.99 the bigger box number 6166 costs 19.99p, The Lego comes in a sturdy deep rectangular blue box with a lid. I know from experience what an advantage it is to have a good sturdy box to keep Lego in. It keeps all the Lego together in one place. Keeps Lego away tidily. The card boxes break fairly easily. Much easier to have a big tub for your child to put all the Lego pieces in. Remember do encorage your child to pick them all up they are painful to stand on with bare feet. ...Continuing on my quest to review all things Christmassy, here I am with Advent review number 2. So with my deepest apologies to all those bah humbuggers out there, may I invite you back to Beckie's grotto. Why don't you pull up a chair, help yourself to a glass of warm mulled wine, and a mince pie (Marks and Spencers with a dusting of icing sugar to make them look homemade). Lego Batman - One of the best!!

Advantages: fun, lego related, loads of things characters can do
Disadvantages: at some point it will end, not a lot of games like this

...For the past 4 years developers at Traveller?s Tales have been creating video games in a lego format. So far having created; Star Wars, Indiana Jones and of course Batman. When I got this last year I was excited straight away, after having played Star Wars and though at times finding it insanely hard, it was always enjoyable following the plot lines and fighting with the characters. The game entitles you to complete each level by collecting all the studs (to buy characters, vehicles and better abilities) also to collect these machines which create objects and buildings. Along with this a red brick per level which will maximise a characters power. You also must free all hostages and there are about 30. In Lego Batman you can fight using the A and B buttons or moving the control and nunchuck as if you are fighting the enemies off...

Lego NXT Mania

Advantages: Its very educational and fun for kids and adults too

ARE BATMAN VILLAINS LEGO BRICKING IT?
