...I had played Lego Star Wars on my friends XBOX before, so i knew what I was getting when I purchased the game for my Wii. And I wasn't dissapointed at all. It's such a fun, playable game - and often hard to turn off. It's also really cool what they have "made" out of lego in the game - a bit of a retro blast to the past for me! In the game, the initial idea is that you play through all the Star Wars episodes (I to VI), with six levels in each episode in what they call "Story Mode". This basically takes you through the story line for each movie, and uses the characters relevant to that part of the plot line. When you complete a level, you "unlock" special Star Wars characters. ...At the end of last year, I found myself at Heathrow armed with a PSP, a flight ticket to Australia and plenty of time to kill on an aeroplane. In an attempt to ward off the potential boredom of a twenty hour flight, I purchased 'Lego Star Wars II - The Original Trilogy' having previously been addicted to other Lego style computer games on other consoles. Once the seatbelt signs had been extingiushed, I pulled out the PSP from my bag, inserted the disc and rushed through the menus to start playing (instructions can always be read later!). The game starts with you playing the Princess Leia character (in Lego form, naturally!) at Mos Eisley cantina which will be familiar to anyone who is a fan of the films. Wii Star Wars - More addictive than the dark side...

Advantages: Superb game, lovely to play, great longevity
Disadvantages: My son not collecting our hard earned studs!

...of the episodes are from the movies, and the fantastically animated star wars Lego characters are beautifully created, and easily identifiable from the films. The ability to then be some of the more diverse (and evil) characters like Darth Maul in freeplay gives the game a real longevity. The main aim of the game is to collect lego studs (money), which can be used to buy and develop new powers, characters and vehicles etc, although my son seemed more intent on a ?dash-for-the-finish? line?which caused a few heated ?hang on a second? conversations. At the end of each level you can replay, or go back to the cantina and spend your hard earned money and then decide to carry on with that episode or jump to a different one.
