A toy which just doesn't lego!

Advantages: Stays with you all your life
Disadvantages: Takes up quite a bit of space...

...Lego is not deemed just for people who are below the age of ten, indeed a great many people I know have not only being making lego again and again for many years, but have enjoyed it as much as when they first made it. It does become addictive once you start building, and especially if you've got a whole pile of Lego buildings and vehicles perched in your cupboard, one ends up getting the whole lot and out and re-building it. ...I would just like to write a review on the benefits and/ or the downfalls of Lego, something that even at the age of 26 I do still enjoy playing with with my brother's four children - any comments, you will get a slap! Lego are those small little bricks that no doubt will have played a part in the life of any child, at some point during their early lives. It is something that has been around for many years, as my two older brothers (being 36 and 38) both also used to play with it themselves along with their own friends - in fact, most of mine was hand downs from them! There are many different bricks used in Lego, from rectangular bricks through to doors; windows; wheels, and even the bases on which to build your masterpieces on too have shown at the Tate Modern! Advantages: Great learing and never goes out of fashion
Disadvantages: can be expensive

On the odd occasion he will bring it to me to fix and I love it because I get to play. This is a toy that never goes out of fashion you couldn't ask for anything better, it teaches co-ordiantion and use of imagination. You can also get all kinds of sizes in it now just made by different brands which I think is wonderful. I think every child should at some point in their lives have lego because they can learn so many skills from it and if they collect enough of it it is brilliant to work as a team and build something bigger and better. Lego City Police Station - 7744 - Great addition to lego fans!

Advantages: Assembly in stages, easy to follow for older children/adults
Disadvantages: Base a bit floppy for moving the police station around

...son has played lots with his police station and has bought the polie helicopter to go with it. The only thing I find with larger items like this is when you want to move them. The base is a bit floppy. You need careful manouvering to move it about without it falling to bits. Also, our youngest son had been playing with it and some of the bits have come off and put back in the wrong place! (Younger children are a bit heavier handed so the bits do come off quite easy like this, his older brother not impressed!) All in all, it is a great piece of toy for lego fans. You could always build it in different ways if you get bored with the layout of how it's meant to look, that's what I find handy with lego. Also, in time, it is inevitable that bits will get lost, but with lego you can always compromise and find bits to match from your lego...

Lego - The toy to last a lifetime

Advantages: Colourful, bright, easy for small hands to manipulate
Disadvantages: The size can be dangerous to the smaller children so suitable for 3 years plus

...I work as a Nursery Nurse and i can honestly say that lego is one of the most durable toys that we use. It is strong and durable and very colourful and can be used to encorage children in colour recognition. It can be used to create all manner of objects and scenes, in fact its use is only limited by the childs imagination. I have also find it useful when working with a child with special needs who was had problems attending school. We built a lego school while he was at the support group and added children every day until the day he was due to visit the school, when we added him to the building. It encouraged him to talk about school and his fears. Lego is bright, colourful and exciting. A toy no home or nursery should be without....
