On the Square

Advantages: Good location, good standard, clean and pleasant
Disadvantages: A bit anonymous

...The Square is a mid priced hotel situated in the heart of Copenhagen, on Radhuspladsen and overlooking Tivoli Gardens. A short walk from the Central Station it is very handy for transfers from the airport and provides an excellent base for touring the city. Part of the ARP-Hansen Hotel Group it is one of several hotels in Copenhagen and like their other properties offers a good standard of accommodation geared towards the modern business or tourist traveller. Location ~ Despite the claims that the hotel overlooks Tivoli gardens this is somewhat misleading. Granted, from the top (6th) floor you can see the giant Tivoli sign but that's about it. There aren't really any other views available as it isn't in the prettiest part of town. A few minutes from the station it occupies a large portion of an unprepossessing retail...

Be There Or Be (Leicester) Square

Advantages: free, block buster shows appearing, song and dance, comedy, laughter and did I mention it's free?
Disadvantages: longish wait to get in

...It?s been a tradition since 2000, when ?West End Live? first started in a slightly different incarnation ? Fair in the square ? as a millennium celebration. Due to its success, the Westminster City Council, together with a Totally London and number of shops, museums and most of all, theatres and Capital 95.8 radio, lay on a free two-day showcase for people to enjoy. It takes place over a June weekend at Leicester Square, right in the centre of London?s theatre heartland. Last year, the ?West End Live? extravaganza took place on 21-22 June. The centre of Leicester Square, the fenced in garden bit, is used to set up the main stage, little booths and tents for the exhibitors and access into the square is via the gates to the north side where the two entrances are. You can still exit through all 4 gates if you want to leave. It may look...

Leicester Hilton-a grand place to say

Advantages: nice modern hotel, not far from Leicester
Disadvantages: not the cheepest hotel, rediculously priced interne access

...We stayed at the Hilton hotel in Leicester as we fancied a night away from home. There was no particular reason for choosing this particular hotel, we just thought why not. The hotel is located three miles from Leicester city centre. It is just off junction 21of the M1. It is 25 minutes from Nottingham East Midlands Airport. Check in is from 3pm and checkout is 12pm. There is parking at the hotel, which costs £5 per night. In every room, there is internet access which costs £15 per night-way beyond expensive if you ask me!There is a business centre, with 10 meeting room, which can accomdate from 2 to 150 people. The hotel is 100% non smoking. There is on restaurat, one bar and a health club (its free to use for hotel guests) which also has a swimming pool. A double room will set you back £129 per night, which doesnt include...

Average Funkel's

Advantages: Food isn't bad, pricing is averge
Disadvantages: Service is Bad!

...Last Friday my boyfriend and I decided to go out for dinner. We decided to go to Garfunkel's, in Leicester square, because we walk past it everyday after work (whilst starving) yet had never eaten in there. The restaurant is situated down Dean Street, which is one of the roads that leads into Leicester Square. It can be seen from the centre of Leicester Square, and is very easily accessible from Leicester Square tube station. It is also in walking distance from Charing Cross National Rail station, and about 5 minutes walk from Trafalgar Square. WAITING TIMES As we had decided to visit this branch in central London on a Friday evening, we decided to book in advance. So, my boyfriend rang up the restaurant that morning and reserved a table. When we got to the restaurant we entered and queued for a couple of minutes before everyone...

Prosperous Leicester

Advantages: Well planned, Prosperous. Good sports facilities
Disadvantages: Air of complacency

...The East Midlands city of Leicester has long been a prosperous place with the hosiery, textiles, footwear and engineering industries being of considerable economic importance. This prosperity does at times seem to have bred a degree of complacency in this leafy, well planned city. Leicester, very much part of Middle England, has attracted large numbers of immigrants, especially Asians from the Indian sub-continent and East Africa and they have added plenty of colour and entrepreneurial skills to the city. The sports scene in this city is good, there is the home ground of Leicestershire County Cricket Club,Leicester City are a Premier Division side and Leicester RFC are one of England's strongest rugby union sides. The cultural infrastructure is well developed with pride of place going to the Phoenix arts Centre and the Haymarket Theatre...

Lunch in Leicester Square

Advantages: lovely atmosphere, nice food
Disadvantages: children not allowed in

...Whilst in London over the weekend, my Dad, who is obsessed with pubs, took me to Brewmaster in Leicester Square for a quick beer to break up our busy day. He told me he had been before although my younger brother had been with him so they had been turned away. They have a rule of no children in the bar. Brewmaster is located next door to the entrance to Leicester Square tube station. It is a friendly pub with a bar on the ground floor as well as a further one upstairs. It serves a selection of beers wines and spirits as well as food. We entered the pub to find a traditional looking bar with a nice relaxed atmosphere. We were greeted by two very friendly barmaids and dad ordered a pint of London Pride for himself and a diet coke for me. He was served quickly and efficiently with a smile. We sat down and I decided to order...

ANGUS STEAKHOUSE, LEICESTER SQUARE - LONDON!

Advantages: FRIENDLY & HELPFUL STAFF
Disadvantages: FOOD WASN'T GREAT - DIDN'T ENJOY IT - LOOKS CAN BE DECIEVING

...minutes after ordering it. So after I made my order my friend decided she didn't want a steak so opted for the chicken cesear salad with a side order of chips. It came to around £9.00 for both dishes which I thought was a bit over-priced as what is it?? Few salad leaves and a chicken breast?? Nevermind I didn't say anything and started to eye up our surrondings. Must say the restaurant was very clean, tables were a good size and the seats were comfortable. The lay out of the restaurant was good as the bar was on the far wall with tables on the opposite side so as you walked in there was your seating area on the left and bar area on the right. Perfect if you just wanted a quick pint and walk back out onto Leicester Square except it wouldn'the pint wouldn't taste very nice. So after chatting for 20 minutes I was starting to wonder where...

Bella Italia: Luglio, Leicester

Advantages: Lovely food and good prices in nice surroundings
Disadvantages: Not much of a special pudding menu

...There are only 3 places in the UK where I have had many restaurant meals, St Annes and Manchester where I grew up and now live, respectively, and Leicester where my sister has whiled away her undergrad, PhD and Rocket Scientist days. With Italian as my favourite fare it's not surprising that I have dined in most of the establishments of this kind in the 3 places, often several times, and Zizzi's is no exception. I like Leicester because it's that tiny bit smaller than Manchester - while I have to trek out of the centre to find a good selection of restaurants, and parks for that matter, my sister can literally be shopping one minute and dining the next, followed by a 10 minute walk across some greenery to home. Zizzi's is in the centre, close to the railway station and situated on Belvoir St, which, despite no-one comprehending why, is...

Experience Shopping at Eldon Square!

Advantages: Good Shops
Disadvantages: Mainly highstreet stores

...When I was younger I used to go to Eldon Square in the school holidays with my grandma and we would meet my sister and my nephews in Newcastle and go shopping. Therefore, for me Eldon Square has some happy memories as well as some great shops :) Eldon Square is an indoor shopping centre located in the heart of Newcastle and as I am now studying in Newcastle I have been here quite often recently. Eldon Square first opened in 1976 and serves a catchment area of 2.7 million people. There are a number of entrances but I usually enter at the one on Northumberland Street. This leads straight to the shops. It is lovely walking into Eldon Square on a cold day, as it is really warm (so especially good at this time of year!) The entrance on Northumberland Street is on a bit of an incline and it's the usual type of flooring in indoor...

Square Head!!

Advantages: Great taste, smell, value for money
Disadvantages: Not many crisps per packet

...Walkers Square crisps are available in 4 different flavours, cheese & onion, ready salted, salt & vinegar and beef. You can buy a 25g pack of Walkers Square for £0.35. Walkers Square are also available in a multipack. The multipack contains 6 packets of Walkers Square, 2 Cheese&Onion, 2 Ready Salted and 2 Salt & Vinegar. It costs about £1.35 for a multipack. Salt and Vinegar are my favourite because they are really tasty compared to the Cheese & Onion and Ready Salted. The Salt and Vinegar are really tangy and you can smell and taste the vinegar. Walkers Square are also suitable for vegatarians because they are cooked in Sunseed oil, which is similar to olive oil. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Packaging ~~~~~~~~~~~ Salt and Vinegar Squares are sold in a dark blue packet which has different shades of blue squares on it. The word squares is...
