Nice laptop, FAB extended warranty!

Advantages: Good specs, fast, wonderful extended warranties
Disadvantages: Feels a bit flimsy, no indicator lights showing wifi connection, etc.

.... My husband really enjoys this laptop for playing games, but that is not the laptop's main purpose for him and anyone who wants a gaming machine probably needs to do some research. It doesn't have indicator lights showing when the hard drive is working or when wifi is connected or when it's running on battery power (like my old Dell Inspiron does). Some people hate that. I'm not too bothered as I rarely paid attention to those lights, anyway. It also has buttons on the keypad to let you mute or change volume, which is very nice as my husband's last laptop didn't have that and it seemed to take forever for him to get the volume down if an ad popped up or a page had music! My current laptop has the "media" keys on the edge of the case facing me, which I like best, but having them on the keypad is a nice second-best option. The laptop also...

Big laptop Small money

Dell Inspiron 1545 - good entry level laptop

Advantages: Cheap, good brand, lots of features,
Disadvantages: Probably not powerful enough for games, bottom of the market now

...family's files were lost in the reinstall, so I didn't even have to restore things from backup. Like other Inspiron laptops, the computer feels reasonably solid, weighing about 2.5kg. The finish is very shiny and doesn't feel cheap. The TrueLife screen offers excellent viewing quality, but is very reflective. I found the widescreen ratio to be a little bit hard to get used to - the screen is shorter and wider, so you have to page down more often. The computer connected easily to the wireless router, which was just as well because the Ethernet port came loose after only a few months. The battery life wasn't fantastic, but if you mainly use it plugged in, then this isn't an issue. The keyboard was much like any other laptop keyboard - obviously the keys don't go down as far as a regular keyboard that comes with a desktop and sound a bit clicky...

Advantages: Built in webcam. fingerprint recognition that works, good customer support.
Disadvantages: Slightly sluggish compared to some higher end machines.

...with the 80GB Hard Drive though. It seems to be accessing all the time and this does impact on performance. I have re-installed the laptop using the factory CD's, but still have the same problem. I am tempted to call Lenovo, but at the moment it just isn't bad enough to bother. I use the laptop mainly for internet and word processing and photo editing etc. so have never installed any games on it. I rarely use it off the mains, so not sure about battery life. The weight of the laptop is fine and I like the fact that the hot air blows out of the side rather than underneath (keeps the lap cooler!). Customer Service: I didn't receive any rebuild CD's with the laptop (probably as it was sent by the Insurance company) so I called Lenovo support. They were really good. Without any issue they sent 7 CD's straight to my house, which arrived...

The dell inspiron laptop is it a good buy!

Advantages: The look of the dell inspiron laptop seems more classy then other notepads. It is simplistic.
Disadvantages: Maybe Dell Have gone too simplistic with this model as the features are nothing to rave about

When I take it out its case I feel good about it because its not a big bulky embarassing computer thing. However, if your one for keeping everything clean and tidy and no smudges anywhere, then maybe you might be irritated by this laptop. With its glossy look smudges, smears and fingerprints stand out like a sore thumb. You feel like your constantly wiping it. You also have to watch what you wipe the laptop with as it is quite easy to scratch. A better idea for Dell would be to provide a cloth to clean it with, one they know wont damage your laptop. It would be a real bummer to scratch it while cleaning it. I also decided to get the colour black because there wasnt a lot of colours to choose from which I found quite dissapointing as...

It is made by a big company which I love and trust,so there is no problem about hard ware .And the battery life seems lasting about 4 or 5 hours in normal situation,it depends on the energy mode.
