Freecom Classic Trouble Free DVD Burning

Advantages: Hard Working and reliable. Can be moved from PC to PC
Disadvantages: Desk space needed because it's external.

Its supposed to take a few minutes to burn a music disc, although it took 20 minutes for an average length CD. ..:Installation:.. Installing the product will take the best part of 45minutes, it comes up with junk about not being compatatible with you operating system when it clearly is. Registering the product can be annoying as well because it asks for information you will not want to give (phone number, address etc.) ..: Burning CD's :.. Burning can take up to and around 20 mins for about 20 3 minute tracks. Selecting what you want put on the CD is a confusing process. As you have to individual copy and paste each song rather than clicking on it and getting it on the cd straight away. Its quite good of informing you of its status...

The Sims 2 DVD-ROM

Advantages: Only 1 disc, loads of features

...I have been a fan of the Sims for many years now, but only recently recently the Sims 2 for Christmas. When I opened it up, I noticed that it said DVD-Rom. At this point I panicked, thinking that I wouldn't be able to use it. Luckily, my computer has a DVD-ROM drive. The only difference between the normal CD-ROM version and the DVD-ROM, Is that the DVD-ROM only has one disc, making installation easier and quicker. Installation As I said, because the game is held on one disc only, you don't have to sit waiting for the computer to tell you top put in 'disc 2' or disc 3' etc. This means that you can leave the computer to happily go about its business of installing, whilst you go and watch the telly. Review of Artec CD-RW CD-RW drive

Lenovo

Advantages: Built in webcam. fingerprint recognition that works, good customer support.
Disadvantages: Slightly sluggish compared to some higher end machines.

I am tempted to call Lenovo, but at the moment it just isn't bad enough to bother. I use the laptop mainly for internet and word processing and photo editing etc. so have never installed any games on it. I rarely use it off the mains, so not sure about battery life. The weight of the laptop is fine and I like the fact that the hot air blows out of the side rather than underneath (keeps the lap cooler!). Customer Service: I didn't receive any rebuild CD's with the laptop (probably as it was sent by the Insurance company) so I called Lenovo support. They were really good. Memorex-cellent value 12x CD writer

Advantages: Cheap and comparable to the more expensive Plextor
Disadvantages: Easy CD is maybe not as good as WinOnCD and support is vague

...guide that Memorex supply to explain roughly how to fit a DVD or CDROM drive, and is not entirely accurate. It tells you to run the setup on the CD, when there isn't one. Instead there is an Adobe PDF file which acts at the menu for the CD. This doesn't autorun when you put the setup CD in the drive (obviously), and if you haven't got Adobe Acrobat Reader already installed, you have to go through a bunch of nested folders to get to the setup for it before you can load the Menu PDF file. A bit of a pain really. Once you've managed to install the software, and after a reboot, you will find The Adaptec menu will guide you through whatever stages of the writing process, straight from inserting the CDR into the drive.
