...found harddrive space no problem at all- I store music and work and photos on it, but very few and short videos, and haven't installed many games. The 512Mb RAM is possibly a little low- Lenovo automatically install software that regularly reminds you to back up your hard drive and defragment, etc- which is good, as it means you are more likely to do so, which is good for your machine, however bad as it obviously slows down the machine further. At startup, therefore, the machine is rather slow, however speeds up once everything has registered and the computer has sorted itself out. Another useful thing with this laptop is a little light that you can switch on so that you can see your keyboard in the dark, if that is something you would need. As with all laptops, this one has it's own allocation of function keys on the keyboard...

Think Thinkpad

Advantages: Speedy, Robust, Good graphics card, Connectivity
Disadvantages: Not the prettiest of designs, Annoying keyboard layout w/ no Windows key and Fn/Ctrl key placement

...INTRODUCTION I bought myself a used IBM / Lenovo Thinkpad T41 for £129 and although it's a pretty old machine (probably from 2004) and fairly low spec by today's standards, I still feel it was a bargain. Lenovo R61I is amazing!

Advantages: This comes with bluetooth, 1GB per sec. wifi card, and cd dvd r&rw drive.
Disadvantages: The power management center goofs up some, The internal coolant system could use work.

is this a stinkpad or a good laptop?

Advantages: Battery life, Wide screen
Disadvantages: To heavy, really difficult to build from scratch.

...lighter for carrying around Conclusions This is a good laptop for a work environment. However I feel that for a home situation you can get better from other suppliers. The machine battery life is a a very good selling point and the wide screen makes looking at a machine to do your work a little bit easier. However the weight of this laptop spoils the machine to me. Also from my IT support perspective Trying to build a machine is a lot harder then other models of machine. Overall, I would probably avoid this model of machine. Simply because I know that a newer model of IBM laptops is available (R400) which is far lighter and does not seem to give the DVD drive problems. Thanks for reading...

Prehistoric laptop

Advantages: Sturdy

...This laptop is a dinosaur, and I don?t mean T-Rex dinosaur I mean Brontosaurus as it big, heavy, and slow and deserves to be extinct. This laptop looks and feels as though it should be in a museum. It looks like it was designed in the 1980s and feels awful to use. It is about the same weight as a brick if not heavier. There is one advantage and that is it looks very robust. It looks like it would survive being dropped from the top of a building, which would probably speed it a bit (I haven't tried this and I don't urge you to try this either). I have not used these laptops for long but I am guessing, from using previous IBM think pads (as that?s what they are but under a different name), that they will last for a very long time. Advantages: Easy to use, runs smoothly, good battery life and high quality.

I knew that I wanted a decent quality portable laptop that would be suitable for all the basics. I have been using the laptop mainly for office related items such as documents and spreadsheets but have also been using it to store and edit photographs and videos. So far I have had no problems and that fact that it comes with a media card reader was very useful. This version of the ThinkPad is pretty similar to the rest of the laptops in the series.
