...Oh boy, here's a gem. I really do believe that whatever your musical taste may be, you should always have one or two records in your collection that are musically so off the radar they become undefinable. This is certainly one of those. Many of you will have heard of William Shatner's seminal 1968 LP "The Transformed Man", which featured his now-legendary renditions of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and Mr Tambourine Man . Both of those tracks appear here, as well as some other less known ones, but most of the, ahem, "tunes" on this CD are culled from Nimoy's five album output. Yes, five albums! Pretty impressive for someone who can't sing, eh? (For comparison, he sounds a lot like Leonard Cohen.) Leonard's Our Man

Advantages: Great songs, production, lyrics
Disadvantages: If you don't like Leonard's voice this won't convert you

...We've seen so many times that artists and songwriters who have great success throughout the 60's and the 70's often have a horrendous 80's as they try to keep up with the times. The songwriting becomes bland and the need for synthesisers means that the songs become so electronically ladened that the production becomes the focus over the songs themselves. It fills me with great pleasure to say that in the case of Leonard Cohen and 'I'm Your Man' this is most certainly not the case. It could be argued that prior to this Len was having a creative crisis. The mid 70's and early 80's were just about fair to him but albums were patchy compared to his 60's output and by his own high standards. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. Advantages: Nicely paced and, as with most Leonard books, the characters are interesting.

On the surface this is told in a light, breezy tone thanks mainly to the cool behaviour of Foley in times of crisis backed up by Buddy's comical acceptance of Foley's decisions, no matter how unusual they seemed. When the setting changed to the colder wintry city of Detroit, the tone darkened considerably to reflect the dangerous Maurice, with whom they have to deal. You get a definite sense that the significant scenes are going to take place in Detroit thanks to these strong mood changes. Leonard Liebherr.

Advantages: Spacious, well-designed fridge with additional compartments which keep food at optimum temperature and humidity.
Disadvantages: Very minor niggles about one shelf and I suspect two of the drawers might not last as long as the fidge.

Mid-Period Masterpiece From The Master Poet

Advantages: An undisputed masterpiece from beginning to end

...After his early folkier albums, Leonard Cohen gradually moved away from being the "new Dylan". His album "Death Of A Ladies Man" was a chaotic experience produced by wall-of-sound legend Phil Spector who was going through a manic phase and at one point pulled a gun on Cohen. Although there are some fine songs on it the overblown production with big band sounds and en-masse female choirs tends to drown out Cohen. It was therefore a matter of some speculation as to what direction the next album would take.
