Advantages: Activies and fun for all ages and tastes! Disadvantages: When rounded up, it can be quite pricey!
...The best Holiday Resort I have ever been in Mauritius is The Domaine Les Pailles. As I briefly mentioned in one of my previous reviews, this is a humongous holiday resort which stretches out for miles and miles, and comprises of activities, fun and cuisine for every ages and tastes. It is situated at Pailles, a small town just a few minutes before Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. Finding the road to Domaines Les Pailles turned out to be quite difficult because there is one specific corner road we had to turn into and we kept missing roads! But once we got into the road which would take us to the resort, it was as if we'd immediately been shut out of the real world. As one approaches the resort, hill and mountain landscapes arise in welcome. In fact, the resort is nestled among hills, valleys and mountains. The long driveway is...
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Split into different buildings, expensive.
...annoying practically everybody right into the small hours.
I digress, the purpose of this review is to warn of the hotel and not the place itself!
Parking
The Hotel Le Donjon Les Ramparts is situated within the city walls, so we made sure we checked on parking facilities for which we were quoted 10 Euros per night. It wasn?t until we arrived that we were informed that we could only take our cars in after 10.30pm at night and had to remove them before eight in the morning. We left ours outside the walls of the city!
Check In
On arrival we followed directions to the hotel only to find that it was split into three parts and reception was in another building a five/ten minute walk away (not good, it was 90 degrees and the city was heaving with people). We eventually found reception and checked in only to find that our room was...
Advantages: Good, playable and easy to use standing or sitting. Disadvantages: What disadvantages?
...The Epiphone studio guitar that I own is the "limited edition, Gothic ,studio ,les paul"
and therefore unsurprisingly this is the guitar I am reviewing.
The Epiphone Gothic les paul is not to distant to it's Gibson cousin, it contains the same electronics and additional metal-wear (machine heads, dial heads etc.) the only major difference is that the Gibson is handmade and so costs a fortune!
The Epiphone is a body heavy guitar but is also still very light when compared to something like a B.C. Rich Warlock. The Gothic les paul maintains the good tone and over all sound you would expect from Gibson but at Epiphone prices!
Clean Channel
---------------------
On a clean channel this guitar provides a good blues sound perfect for .....well blues.
If given the slightest overdrive it makes for a brilliant jazz...
Advantages: Sweet clasic sound of truck Rock & Roll Disadvantages: Quite heavy
...I would have to say haveing not owned but played all of them the Studio would have to be the best Epiphone Les Paul i have played. Which is uppose is why i bought it. At £260 reduced from £350 it is a very nice second or third guitar, depending on your finacial posision. I think out of all the mainsteam guitars on the market has the largest could variety i have ever seen. At least 15 Different shades of sunburst, not to mension the different shades of hardware. It gives a perfect soud unique to the Gibson and Epiphone ranges. I would be carful not to be confused as a first time buyer for repicas such as "Vintage" or "De-Amon" who have never beed able recreate the true Gibson sound. As guitar shop sales are common it is definetly a guitar to look out for!!...
Advantages: Great Cast, Great Musical, The Extra performance of Do You Hear the People Sing and One Day More. Disadvantages: No the full score.
...Les Miserables is a near-perfect show. It has great songs and brilliant characters which are often portrayed by brilliant actors. There is no finer display of this casting than the Anniversary DVD. The original Valjean, Colm Wilkinson has not lost any of his wonderful voice and his counter-part Javert, Philip Quast, is equally as 'on-form'. Ruthie Henshall and Lea Salonga are also fine at their parts and the original Marius, Michael Ball is fantastic as usual. Michael Maguire's American accent makes a nice change and provides the perfect voice for Enjolras.
As Les Miserables is a predominantly stationairy show anyway, the lack of movement in the DVD is not a problem. The characters are in costume and do a fair amount of moving making the DVD really seem like Les Mis. The songs are well sung by all and there no weak links in the show...
Advantages: Looks Great, brilliant sutain, action, basically all of the features of the Gibson Les Paul Disadvantages: Imitation pickups
...is good enough, although it may look a bit arificial for some peoples tastes it is but a minor flaw. The split-diamond headstock design looks great, as do the golden tuners, pickups and bridge.
Build Quality
You can tell that the guitar has been carefully finished, only very few small painting errors here and there that are barely noticeable. The guitar itself is heavier than most other guitars, (if you are accustomed to Les Pauls you will know this, but it was a bit of a shock when upgrading from my Strat copy) and feels very sturdy. The neck is set perfectly, some cheaper copies fail in this reaspect and it is very important. The low action on the neck makes it a joy to play. I have gigged with this guitar and can tell you that it is one of the best non-floyd rose equipped guitars for staying in tune. This is because...
Advantages: ease of access, huge ski area, good resorts, excellent apres ski Disadvantages: poorly groomed pistes and very busy at weekends
...It is very easy to get to, about 7/8 hours easy driving from Calais, you can take the Eurostar from London straight to Bourg St Maurice (which is the town at the foot of the mountains, below the three resorts Arc Pierre Blanche, Arc 1800 and Arc 20000 which make up the resort of Les Arcs) or you can fly to either Lyon or Geneva which are both about 3 hours drive from the resorts.
Arc Peirre Blanche is connected to Bourg St Maurice by Funicular Railway or there is a regular bus service to take you to the three high altitude ski resorts.
Arc 1800 is the biggest and busiest and is great for all standards and abilities of skiers, and also families as there is a choice of several kindergartens and kid ski schools. Also, the resort is traffic free, all vehicles having to park on the outskirts. There are plenty of bars, restaurants...

Review of Les Arcs
Advantages: Brilliant, touching, lovely story Disadvantages: none
...Les Miserables is a musical made from Victor Hugo?s book and is the most amazing musical I have ever been to. It is in its own league. This musical is fantastic. You ever have a chance to see it whether at Broadway in New York or in London, you must seize this opportunity. I went to watch this musical a long time ago but I remember it so vividly. It has far from left my memory.
Les Miserables is full of highs and lows, and the magic of it is that the spectators are drawn into those highs and lows, feeling ready to cry for joy at some points and out of sadness at another point. This performance is magnificent, I cannot enforce this enough. The main characters each have their own little toils which they have to deal with and one finds oneself siding with a particular character. I found myself siding with Eponine wishing and hoping...

Review of Les Miserables
Advantages: Cosmpolitan compared to its neighbours Disadvantages: Parking can be difficult and expensive; small beach when tide is in
...We paid a brief visit to Les Sables last week as part of our holiday to the Vendee. Having been advised that parking in Les Sables was awful in the summer we parked in La Chaume - across the river where it was free and hopped on to the little water taxi to get across to Les Sables. A one way ticket cost 0.89 euro and the journey was literally a minute! This is obviously a popular service with both locals and tourists alike although wasn't particularly well signed so unless you've read a good guide book visitors wouldn't necessarily know of the service.
In direct comparison to La Chaume the seafront at Les Sables was well geared up for the holiday maker with lots of pleasant landscaping and clothes shops. It certainly had more of a cosmopolitan air than other towns down the coastline and appeared to be a mecca to the beach goer...
Advantages: Really beautiful and sad Disadvantages: Minor characters are a little clichéd
...Au Revoir, Les Enfants (which I'll leave you to translate for yourselves) is a French film (no surprises there) which won a whole host of awards in 1987, such as the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival, a Bafta for Best Director and 7 César Awards (France's Baftas), as well as being nominated for 2 Oscars. However, considering how critically acclaimed this was, it's practically unheard of and difficult to find. It's the debut film by director Louis Malle, and it's based on his own childhood experiences.
The story revolves around a boy named Julien Quentin, who goes to a Catholic boarding school during World War II. When a new boy, Jean Bonnet, arrives, the pair get on well and form a friendship. However, when Jean starts to act strangely, and Julien delves more about Jean's past, he discovers a secret that could tear...
