Les Arcs 1800
Advantages: ease of access, huge ski area, good resorts, excellent apres ski
Disadvantages: poorly groomed pistes and very busy at weekends
...It is very easy to get to, about 7/8 hours easy driving from Calais, you can take the Eurostar from London straight to Bourg St Maurice (which is the town at the foot of the mountains, below the three resorts Arc Pierre Blanche, Arc 1800 and Arc 20000 which make up the resort of Les Arcs) or you can fly to either Lyon or Geneva which are both about 3 hours drive from the resorts.
Arc Peirre Blanche is connected to Bourg St Maurice by Funicular Railway or there is a regular bus service to take you to the three high altitude ski resorts.
Arc 1800 is the biggest and busiest and is great for all standards and abilities of skiers, and also families as there is a choice of several kindergartens and kid ski schools. Also, the resort is traffic free, all vehicles having to park on the outskirts. There are plenty of bars, restaurants...

French skiing in Les Arcs.
Advantages: Massive ski area, no queues, well kept pistes
Disadvantages: A little expensive
...I am a seasoned skier and have been skiing for the past 24 years, as a holiday skier, and I can honestly say Les Arcs is the best ski resort I have been to. I went there about 3 years ago, and our hotel - the name escapes me - was built into the side of the mountain in Arc 2000. The boot room was on the top floor, which confused us on the first day. We went to the boot room got ready for our first days skiing, as we stepped out on to the snow we were greeted with our own downward slope on to the main chair lift which then took us to various parts of the Les Arcs mountains. Because of the location of the hotel we never needed to walk or use the ski bus to gain access to the slopes. And when we finished our days skiing, we skiied towards our hotel to get the hotels own drag lift back to the boot room. Whoever designed this hotel...

Les ARCs Simply Fantastic Skiing
Advantages: Huge Ski Area-Huge bar area!
Disadvantages: French Airports!
...One of teh most famous resorts in the Alps, Les Arcs is a purpose built resort on 3 levels. The 3 Villages at 1600, 1800 and 2000 have individual qualities which make them unique.
1600- near to bars and shops, obviously lower down the mountain , but more traditional than the other 2. Also nearer to the beginner slopes which makes it ideal for the family.
1800- Party Party Party! Bars and clubs, floodlit skiing.
2000- the highest and the best snow, purpose built this is a modern place with ample bars and restaurants, many ski in /ski out residences.
Having stayed in all 3 places over the past few years all offer fantastic skiing and link brilliantly around the mountains and with the New link lift accross to La Plagne making this the biggest ski area in the alps (now bigger than 3 valleys)
Always seems snow sure...

top notch
Advantages: Good ski-ing, Great surroundings, great accomodation
Disadvantages: Quite expensive, but then the Alps is everywhere
...Les Arcs is one of the best known and largest of all French Resorts. It is split into 3 sections Arc 1600 Arc 1800 and Arc 2000. The neumbers refer to the height above sea level in metres. A funicilar railways runs at 20 minute intervals from Bourg St Maurice up to 1600 from where you can connect to the rest of the resort via mainly chairlifts, there is the ocassional tow, but mostly the resort is served with cable cars and chairlifts. 1600 has a good range of bars and shops, and is a good place to relax or sun bathe if the ski-ing is too arduous. . the ski-ing ranges from the easy to the extreme. From the highest point Auiguile Rouge at 3100 m their are a number of potentially tricky black runs, as well as the flying kilometer, a very steep straight down piste on which the speed skiers reach up tp 145 mph. There is lots of off piste if...

Arc du Triomphe - nice view
Advantages: quite cheap, panoramic views of Paris, interesting attraction
Disadvantages: v.busy,
...I went to Paris for the weekend last summer with my girlfriend and had a great time. It soon became clear that almost every major attraction offers amazing panoramic views over Paris and the Arc de Triomphe is no exception. It is one of the most famous monuments in Paris and fronts many postcards.
The Arc de Triomphe is at the western end of the Champs-Elysees; a sight in itself. The arch is a tribute of respect to those that have fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic wars. It was designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1806; his work was taken on by Huyon in 1811 when Chalgrin sadly died. However, the monument was not completed until 1836 by Goust and Huyot. The Arc stands at 165ft tall, 148ft wide and 72ft deep, the design inspred by the Roman Arch of Titus. It has been unchanged for many years now but has to be occasionally...

If You're Not Noah, Visit This Arc!
Advantages: Great Views, Under 25's Get Reduced Rate
Disadvantages: 9 Euros For The View
...History & Background
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Arc de Triomphe is located at the end of the Champs-Elysees in the Place Charles de Gaulle. It was designed in 1806 by architect Jean Chalgrin. It sits on a roundabout with 12 exits, like the centre of a clock face.
The name gives away what the monument is, an arc. It stands over 51 metres in height and is 45 metres wide. It is a giant 3D rectangle with an arc carved out in the middle.
The Arc de Triomphe is quite famous and recognised as one of France's most famous monuments; its purpose was to honour those who fought for France in any of the Napoleonic wars. It is also home to the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Today the Arc de Triomphe is recognised as an international tourist hot spot and somewhere to visit of national interest and historic meaning to the French people...
LG 22LH2000. Satisfyingly adequate
Advantages: Connectivity, Weight, Price
Disadvantages: Build quality
...concerned about was connectivity because I have a number of digital cameras that have HDMI connections, a VCR and DVD player that connect via SCART and an S-Video to Composite Video output from my PC for when I want to use a second monitor. The 22LH2000 has 2 x SCART sockets (of which one is RGB), 1 x HDMI, 1 x Coax aerial, 1 x VGA monitor socket, an audio input and a set of Composite Video sockets.
For the sake of experimentation (and nothing else) I did try plugging my PC into the VGA socket and the TV functions perfectly well as a monitor, with a maximum resolution of 1360 x 760 pixels. The quality of the display was more than adequate ? although a little less crisp than my Emprex monitor. I?m sure I could fine tune this if it was ever going to become a permanent arrangement.
Initial set-up was easy enough, with the TV handling most...
Wrestlemania 2000
Advantages: The ladder match, the Main event, the hardcore match
Disadvantages: Much of the rest of it seemed like filler
...The start of 2000 had seen a string of great action in the WWF (or as it's now the WWE), following on from No Way Out and Royal Rumble 2000 was the show case event of the year Wrestlemania 2000. With the absence through injury of Stone Cold Steve Austin the company had started to build it's self through the heel (bad guy) faction of the McMahon-Helmsley faction lead by HHH and Stephanie McMahon. And this was the main story going into the event though of course not the only one. There was the fall out of the Royal Rumble which had run as almost equal in the storyline stakes, whilst the 3 way tag team feud between Edge and Christian, The Hardy Boys and The Dudley Boys had escalated further. Whilst Kurt Angle had been winning the lower tier titles for fun holding both the European and the Inter Continental titles and the Chris' (Benoit...
Le Domaine Les Pailles Resort
Advantages: Activies and fun for all ages and tastes!
Disadvantages: When rounded up, it can be quite pricey!
...The best Holiday Resort I have ever been in Mauritius is The Domaine Les Pailles. As I briefly mentioned in one of my previous reviews, this is a humongous holiday resort which stretches out for miles and miles, and comprises of activities, fun and cuisine for every ages and tastes. It is situated at Pailles, a small town just a few minutes before Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. Finding the road to Domaines Les Pailles turned out to be quite difficult because there is one specific corner road we had to turn into and we kept missing roads! But once we got into the road which would take us to the resort, it was as if we'd immediately been shut out of the real world. As one approaches the resort, hill and mountain landscapes arise in welcome. In fact, the resort is nestled among hills, valleys and mountains. The long driveway is...
My les Paul Custom
Advantages: Looks Great, brilliant sutain, action, basically all of the features of the Gibson Les Paul
Disadvantages: Imitation pickups
...is good enough, although it may look a bit arificial for some peoples tastes it is but a minor flaw. The split-diamond headstock design looks great, as do the golden tuners, pickups and bridge.
Build Quality
You can tell that the guitar has been carefully finished, only very few small painting errors here and there that are barely noticeable. The guitar itself is heavier than most other guitars, (if you are accustomed to Les Pauls you will know this, but it was a bit of a shock when upgrading from my Strat copy) and feels very sturdy. The neck is set perfectly, some cheaper copies fail in this reaspect and it is very important. The low action on the neck makes it a joy to play. I have gigged with this guitar and can tell you that it is one of the best non-floyd rose equipped guitars for staying in tune. This is because...
