Epiphone Les Paul Studio, a little too evil?

Advantages: Build quality, Bridge pickup, Hardware
Disadvantages: Weight, Finish

...Firstly i'd like to say that for me this guitar looks rather drab and boring, as it is so plain and all in black. There is no contrast in colour and doesn't really stand out. But with that now said, i will go onto the other aspects. It has the standard les paul fittings, which are sturdy and reliable, and the tuners that hold their tuning very well. The pickups are high output and sound very heavy, which is ideal for hard rock and metal. The neck pickup sounds a bit too heavy and doesn't sound great with only light distortion but sound good clean. The guitar is quite heavy in weight and can make my shoulder ache if i've had it on the strap too long. But the weight is only due to the mahogany it is made from. It is buit very well and is also sturdy. The fitted neck is very nice and adds to the build quility....

Epiphone Les Paul Studio

Advantages: Sweet clasic sound of truck Rock & Roll
Disadvantages: Quite heavy

...I would have to say haveing not owned but played all of them the Studio would have to be the best Epiphone Les Paul i have played. Which is uppose is why i bought it. At £260 reduced from £350 it is a very nice second or third guitar, depending on your finacial posision. I think out of all the mainsteam guitars on the market has the largest could variety i have ever seen. At least 15 Different shades of sunburst, not to mension the different shades of hardware. It gives a perfect soud unique to the Gibson and Epiphone ranges. I would be carful not to be confused as a first time buyer for repicas such as "Vintage" or "De-Amon" who have never beed able recreate the true Gibson sound. As guitar shop sales are common it is definetly a guitar to look out for!!...

Epiphone Gothic Les Paul Studio

Advantages: Good, playable and easy to use standing or sitting.

...The Epiphone studio guitar that I own is the "limited edition, Gothic ,studio ,les paul" and therefore unsurprisingly this is the guitar I am reviewing. The Epiphone Gothic les paul is not to distant to it's Gibson cousin, it contains the same electronics and additional metal-wear (machine heads, dial heads etc.) the only major difference is that the Gibson is handmade and so costs a fortune! The Epiphone is a body heavy guitar but is also still very light when compared to something like a B.C. Rich Warlock. The Gothic les paul maintains the good tone and over all sound you would expect from Gibson but at Epiphone prices! Clean Channel --------------------- On a clean channel this guitar provides a good blues sound perfect for .....well blues. If given the slightest overdrive it makes for a brilliant jazz...

My les Paul Custom

Advantages: Looks Great, brilliant sutain, action, basically all of the features of the Gibson Les Paul
Disadvantages: Imitation pickups

...is good enough, although it may look a bit arificial for some peoples tastes it is but a minor flaw. The split-diamond headstock design looks great, as do the golden tuners, pickups and bridge. Build Quality You can tell that the guitar has been carefully finished, only very few small painting errors here and there that are barely noticeable. The guitar itself is heavier than most other guitars, (if you are accustomed to Les Pauls you will know this, but it was a bit of a shock when upgrading from my Strat copy) and feels very sturdy. The neck is set perfectly, some cheaper copies fail in this reaspect and it is very important. The low action on the neck makes it a joy to play. I have gigged with this guitar and can tell you that it is one of the best non-floyd rose equipped guitars for staying in tune. This is because...

...When it comes to buying guitars, there's a lot of discrepancy about who makes the best guitars, who has the best sound, which guitar looks cooler...... the list goes on. The main argument seems to be whether Gibson or Fender are the better manufacturer. For me it has to be Gibson! The Les Paul it just oozing with style and quality, and it's a privilege to own one! believe me! A Gibson Les Paul standard in this day and age would probably set you back a whopping £1500 at the least! So it's good to know that you can get the next best thing for a lot cheaper. Epiphone guitars are a branch of the Gibson brand, and so are manufactured for sound and quality, but dont have quite the same 'ingredients'. Gibson Les Paul Studio

Advantages: A good buy if you are thinking of buying a Les Paul guitar
Disadvantages: Other guitars offer better value for money

...I recently bought a '93 Les Paul Studio to avoid taking my older guitars out to gigs - too many Daylight Robbers in this world nowadays! Overall, the build quality is acceptable. I have bought this guitar because I want something that sounds like a LP Custom, and the range of Gibson tones available is wider than that. It can be made to sound like an SG by using the tone controls, and it is possible to approach the "woman" tone of the ES335 with this guitar! It plays acceptably, although the bridge has to be on its lowest setting, and I have other guitars with a better action. I like the short scale on Gibson guitars - it suits my small hands, and gives a little more tension with light strings than a Fender does. Long Live The Les Paul

...I bought my wine red Les Paul Standard 10 years ago (approx). It was my first professional quality instrument and just by playing and owning it, I felt as though my ability had jumped by a factor of 10 and my instant rock star pose value just shot off the scale. Plus, the most under-rated guitarist, from one of the best rock bands of all time played one – Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy. Nowadays, Slash from GNR plays one that looks almost identical. It cost me £600 at the time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Playing in a punk/RnB outfit meant that the LP looked a bit “Rolls Royce” for the Damned/Sex Pistols/Dr Feelgood covers we were kicking out, so to punk it up a bit I took the scratch plate off. This made it look really cool although stupidly I’ve since lost all trace of the dang thing………D’OH...
