FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Tell Me He Didn't...
Advantages: Bangers throughout
Disadvantages: Nothing specific
...Released months after his first, the R&B singer Ryan Leslie churned out his second 2009 album late in the year to get things rolling nicely for him after a slow start in the game with his 2005 debut shelved until he managed to find the sort of fan backing that he is currently work with. ?Transition?, as with his self-entitled debut record has him bringing forward an album filled with his own production, writing and vocals and all done in a futuristic style unlike any others.
1. ?Never Gonna Break Up?
The album kicks off with song hardcore Funk that completely takes you over from the start as you se just how this ?Transition? theme on the record has altered his ways from the first time around when it was filled with the spacey synth,. But on this occasion he has taken things back with some live instrumentals to add to this and in...

R-Les: Debut Attempt #2
Advantages: Lots of bangers
Disadvantages: Nothing specific
...Leslie's vocals as on point as he sings to the girl who is "just right for [him]"
**Four Stars**
7. "How It Was Supposed To Be"
This one came out as his third single from this album, and it stands right out as one you should look out for in the way that he tries something completely original, whilst still using the same sort of technique that had been implemnted in other tracks here, but there are added things to this one which take it to new heights of success.
**Five Stars**
8. "I-R-I-N-A"
Performing a very direct tune, you have him focusing his attention to something very specific in this one, and it comes out that he is able to write for these emotions just as well as the more universal thoughts which we come across when in love. This one hints on a later tune, and how it is written.
**Four Stars**
9. "Out Of The Blue...

Stand up and be counted.
Advantages: A quirky interesting read.
Disadvantages: Dialogue rather flowery at first.
... A GIRL COULD STAND UP
LESLIE MARSHALL
I have just finished one of my recent library choices - 'A Girl Could Stand Up' by, Leslie Marshall.
This was a very unusual, surreal book about an American dysfunctional, non-traditional family It is a book that creates a mixture of drama, mystery and fantasy all woven very well together.
THE STORY
On a sixth-birthday outing to Glen Echo, a local theme park, Elray Mayhew witnesses the bizarre death of her parents, Barkley and Jack - who were electrocuted in front of her during a boat trip through the Tunnel of Love.
She is then brought up by her two radically different, completely undomesticated uncles -. her late father's brother - "Aunt" Ajax, a transvestite, and her mother's brother - Harwood a photographer and philanderer.
This sound like...

R-Les
Advantages: Ryan Leslie does all the work and does it well
Disadvantages: Beats and lyrics don't combine well at times
..."Just Right" is the debut album from Ryan Leslie. the album came out in 2005 as the songer-writer and producer finally decided to step up as a vocalist after having lent his lyrics to the likes of Cassie and Usher, and beats to a wide range of Hip Hoppers, R&B singers and Pop singers too.
1. Way That You Move Girl
This is a good way to start the album as you have Leslie inviting people in with a selection of Hip Hop samples from Kanye, Fat Joe and others from around the time to get you into the track. However, as it is a Ryan Leslie song, I was disappointed to hear him being taken over by the gest performers, The Clipse, whose raps dominate the track, making it seem as though its not even his as he only gets the chance to sing the hooks and one verse, but for a club tune as a Rap/R&B crossover, it's decent.
**Three Stars...

Murder, transvestites and forgery in Bombay
Advantages: Fast-paced, well-written and researched, great setting
Disadvantages: Complicated plot, interspersed with unnecessary comments on scientific theory
...Introduction
I have always been interested in reading crime fiction based in other countries, so this seemed an ideal choice when I spotted it in my local library, despite the fact that I have never heard of this author. On the whole, I think I made a good choice - the setting is fabulous and has obviously been well-researched and the story is fast-moving. It is not a light read, however, much concentration is needed to follow the rather complicated plot and the unfamiliar names of the characters and places. The book is also a long one - some 400 pages larger than the size of an average paperback.
The author
Leslie Forbes was born in Canada. She studied physics and politics in Canada and then film and design in London, but dropped out of both courses. Following this, she worked in fashion before working as a designer for BBC. She...

Magic's in the air!
Advantages: wonderful story, attractive design
Disadvantages: not for all
...she work out it was her doing, and more importantly, fix the spell and put everything back to normal?
This is a delightful little story. There's not a moment when you aren't kept biting your nails, wondering whether Sabrina will be able to use her magic to fix her error. It's quite amusing too, but I think that's mainly down to the characters. The main characters in the story are Sabrina, Morgan and Roxie. They all have different personalities, but they gel so well. And Morgan never fails to amuse me with her moments and outrageously unintelligent personality! Roxie too is incredible, a fiesty character who doesn't care what people think. However it is Sabrina that is my favourite character, naturally! She's simply magical!
Witch Glitch is written my Leslie Goldman. There are a series of authors who write for the Sabrina range, and I...
