Hall Lot of Levens

...On my ex wife's thirtieth birthday, I surprised her with a trip to this stately home. This visit was not the reason as to why she became the ex Mrs Borg (nor was it cited in the grounds for divorce), I must stress, as we both enjoyed our little excursion around the place. I am not much of a stately home fan. I can take them or leave them, and I wouldn't take a trip out especially to go to one these days, but when I have been I have quite enjoyed them. This certainly applies to Levens Hall. I think that any trip to a hall or castle is about discovering information on history and because of this I will not mention much of these here. I will say that it has been around in the 1500s. The current owner is Hal Bagot, but it has been in the family for centuries. The most memorable thing I remember of Levens Hall is the gardens. ...It was the 80's and no-one escaped unscathed not even John Lydon. This album was originaly titled Comercial Zone but former guitarist Keith Levene had ran off with the matser tapes and released it, causeing much licencing problems. The Album was re-recorded by drummer Martin Atkins and John Lydon, and a host of session musicians, the result is on the hole pretty disapointing considering the standard of the three previous releases by PIL. Take "Bad Life" as an example the combination of Atkins tribal Drumming and Lydons Vocal would have been perfectley good by itself but it has terribly produced 80's horns splatered throughout it, and really sums up the 80's for me too much tinkering in the studio and not enough thought. Though it is not all bad with the superbly tounge in cheek "This Is Not A Love Song" whih plows the same musical...

The Time Traveller's Wife

...spoil you experiences in watching this beautiful film. My opinion ---------------- It was the most moving, catching, engaging and tear jerker film I have seen in the past months. I really loved the book and I waited the film based on the novel. I know that Jeremy Leven and Bruce Joel Rubin had to leave out a few characters from the novel and I think they have done a brilliant job. I really enjoyed the film. The story gave me back the atmosphere of the book and I think it contained as much details as possible in 108 minutes. The performance of the actors was outstanding. My favourite ones were the two Clares. I loved the young actress Brooklynn Proulx. She was exactly as cheeky as she should be, she was authentic. I loved her tiny voice and when she was sulky that Henry was married and was in love with his wife? I won?t forget that look...

It can be reached by leaving the M6 at either junction 35 or 36, the A590 is a good double carriageway road and the journey to the railway is quick and easy taking about 30 minutes from the motorway, there are brown leisure signposts to help. For anyone with a sat nav the post code for the railway is LA12 8AL. Originally this railway was a branch line of the Furness Railway and carried passengers and goods from Lakeside to Ulverston and Barrow, then south to Lancashire. British Rail closed the line in the 1960's, and now the only part remaining is the stretch from Haverthwaite, through Newby Bridge to the terminus at Lakeside, run as a tourist attraction. As yearning and heartfelt as any vocalist of his generation, comparisons with Jackie Leven and Scott Walker have emerged.
