...Lexar JumpDrive Secure ll is a USB flash drive with a good 512mb storage capacity. It boasts plug-and play functionality, allowing you to pop it into any usb drive on a mac, pc or server and drag and drop files 'to and fro' as desired. (Ease of access depends on the o/s you have installed, i use both OSX10 and vista, both work great!) Now 512mb isn't exactly the king as storages spaces go (you can get upto 8gb now!!!) but its perfect if you only transfer the smaller files such as word docs, the odd song or two. If you are moving larges directories then this isn't for you and would recommend you look at the size of file/directory you have and purchase accordingly. Perfect for the school/college user and you can pick them up for around £5.00 give or take a penny or two, so it is hardly a wallet burner. Lexar is a well trusted...

So many uses, such a small device

Advantages: SD/MMC or Sony Memory Stick slot on any computer with USB
Disadvantages: Larger than a standard USB flash drive

...I bought this JumpDrive along with a 1GB Lexar memory card for my camera (Minolta Z3) Although the camera, like all cameras have a mini-USB socket I much prefer taking out the memory card instead so as to save bending the rubber cover of the mini-USB, on all cameras I've tried they just seem as if they'll break off after only a little while of use. The JumpDrive gives you an SD/MMC and (Sony) Memory Stick slot on any computer with a USB port. It acts as a MSD (Mass Storage Device) just like a USB Flash drive so no drivers are needed if you're running win 2K or win XP. Although it is a bit on the large size it is so much more convent than plugging in cables to devices. You could just use this as an upgradeable flash drive and it wouldn't cost you as much as buying a separate flash drive, considering that you can get a 256MB SD card...

...You can use SD cards in all sorts of products now, such as Digital Cameras,PDA's,MP3 players and much much more. They can range from £20-£60 in the 512mb range. This one costing £40 for me, and your paying mostly for the name. I bought this brand new from a internet website, and i have not had one problem with it since. No random file loss, no techinal problems so it comes pretty hassle free. Owning a cheaper SD card, i have neither had problems with that and it was half the price...so again, its mainly Lexars name that costs the most on this, but with a respected company, customer services is so much greater. One difference to other cheaper SD makes is the 4.8 MBps / 32x writing speed, so when taking a photo/videothrough a digital camera, the data really can transfer safely onto the flash storage with no problems what...

Never again

Advantages: Resizeable secure partition; pretty quick transfer rates
Disadvantages: TWO drives irrevocably corrupted themselves; hopeless support

...I bought a 128MB JumpDrive Secure over two years ago and it has been fantastic, still going strong. It even survived 40 minutes in a washing machine with no problems. I decided to upgrade to this model late last year to get USB2.0 transfer rates and higher capacity. The first drive corrupted itself - no reading or writing and errors when trying to do anything with it. Nothing within Windows or even DOS could format the drive, not even the DOS-based KillDisk application or Lexar's own support. Ah yes, Lexar's support. All they could do was give me various versions of their driver software to try formatting the drive, all obviously of no use. Then they seemed to give up. I managed to get a replacement from the online shop which lasted only a few weeks and displayed the same problems, so after having two drives fail I took the refund...
