Lexmark Z32 ink jet printer

Advantages: Excellent quality printing
Disadvantages: Cartridges a bit pricy unless you shop around.

...After plodding along for 4 1/2 years with a old olivetti JP 170s I treated myself to a Lexmark Z32 ink jet printer. It was like trading in a banger for a Rolls Royce. The Lexmark Z32 was easy to install via manufactures cd rom and run very quietly indeed. It cost me £119 via mail order. It will print 8 pages of text per minute at 600dpi and although colour takes a bit longer the quality is excellent. I print off alot of pictures from the net for my wife and when using glossy paper at 1200dpi the finished product is equal to the real thing. So good we have framed several. The paper storage will hold up to 100 sheets depending on thickness. The instruction manual was set out very simply with all of the instructions very easy to follow. lexmark ink goes beyond the pale

Advantages: quality, easy to use, exceeds suggested amout to print

...I use lexmark cartridge No 2 for my printer, they are readily available in PC World £14.99 and other shops stock them too Such as Tesco, Argos, etc. They come in a vibrant red box and has a large No 2 inside a rainbow ringed circle, with the Models it is suitable fo ( X2480 & X3480) clearly marked on the front of the box. Lexmark states on the box that they are the Original replacement cartridge with a new intergrated Print head to give you sharp Crystal clear results over time. They are very simple to fit into the printer just lift up the fixing cover and slot in to place and snap shut the holding lid, slide back in place in the printer. (dont forget to remove the sticky seal 1st). The ink lasts for approx 120 print outs, you get more than this if printing mainly black and white, or slightly less if printing a lot...

Lexmark 3 in 1 Multifunctional Printer (X3480)

Advantages: Reasonably price for a 3 in 1 MULTIFUNCTIONAL Unit.
Disadvantages: So easy to accidently switch off.

I've done some compairing and will mention any differences I know of below. What it is: Its a 3 in 1 Multifunction unit. It prints, has a scanner and has a copier. Will connect to your computer via a USB port. Shops: This is available on E.Bay (various sellers) and PC World have it listed. Its NO longer on Currys or comet (who used to sell it). ...ink jet printers seem to be the common solution to every home personal computers hard copy situation but buying a cheap printer can work out costlier in the long run. The problem is the cartrages. Even a cheap inkjet printer can be brought for about £40 squid and have quite a decent quality of print but cartrages range from £15 squid to up to £40 and if the whole family are using it on regualar basis they mightent last very long. There are also special paper to buy like glossy for photo's and options to put the printer into a different mode to specialize for photos so these can take up more ink then in draft mode, so its important to look at the whole perspective on what the printer is to be used for and cartridge price before getting one in....

THIS IS A GREAT PRINTER

Disadvantages: Really just the idea of it not being a genuine new original!

...MY HISTORY WITH INK CARTRIDGES: From the time I bought my first printer, I have really had nothing but problems when it has come to keeping them supplied with ink! The brand named cartridges generally contain less ink for your money and so they need either need replacing more frequently, or you pay considerably more. My first printer, an Epson, was bought along with bottles of refill ink and a syringe to inject each colour into the colour cartridge, and a bottle of black for the other one.
