What to look for in a digital camera
Review of KODAK DC280 Digital Camera by
heneghan
Advantages: Value for money; high resolution and picture quality; good range of functions
Disadvantages: None
...I have split this opinion into 2 sections – the first part provides some general advice on what to look for when buying a digital camera, the second part provides the specific review of the Kodak DC280. So, if you don’t need the advice but just want to read about this particular camera, scroll down until you see “PART 2”….
PART 1
If you are looking for a new camera it is worth asking yourself a few questions first to be sure that the camera you buy meets your needs.
·What are you looking to accomplish?
·Do you want to print your photographs or simply view them on your PC monitor or publish them on the Web?
·If you are going to print, what kind of output device will you be working with and what are its resolution requirements?
·How big do you want to print your images?
·How many photographs will you need to be able to store...

Polaroid PDC 3030 Digital Camera
Review of Polaroid PDC 3030 Digital Camera by
mickeydumville
Advantages: Cheap, Good specifications
Disadvantages: Not Readily Available
...I was looking for a simple, cheap digital camera for both home and business use. I'm self employed and on occasion I need to take a client's photograph to insert in a document. After much deliberating, enter the Polaroid PDC 3030 digital camera.
How Much And From Where?
++++++++++++++++++++++
I bought the camera, 64 MB smart card and a leather carrying case for £99.97 from Argos where the camera alone is £79.99. All in all this deal saved me £20. I searched the internet today and couldn't find this model at any other suppliers.
So What Did I Get For My Money?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
The whole package was delivered as part of a big order I'd placed, and the camera, case and smart card came packaged as one item. It was all sealed in a tamper proof, grey polythene bag. When opened the three items were packaged...

A digital camera at a sane price
Review of Olympus Camedia C-860L Digital Camera by
jd99
Advantages: Cheap for a digital camera, Good quality of pictures, LCD screen, good features, nice looking
Disadvantages: Short battery life when using LCD screen
...When my camera broke-the carry handle snapped it fell on the pavement, bounced into the road and was promtly run over by a car(much to my mates amusement)-I decided to fork out the extra cash for a digital camera instead of just replacing the old one. When I went to look for a digital camera I was caught by an overly smarmy store assistant, you know the kind, slicked back hair, smart jacket, speaks only in jargon and doesn't ever let you go.
Smarmy sales guy:<sidles up out of nowhere> "Hello sir, can I be of assistance?"
Me: "Umm? yes, I was thinking of buying a digital camera, nothing pricey mind you, its just for taking holiday snaps and the like."
Smarmy sales guy: "Ahh yes what you want is this one, jargon jargon jargon blah blah blah" <produces swish looking camera>
Me: <listening patiently> "How much is that one...

LG does it at last
Review of LG KU990 Viewty by
marcellep2
Advantages: Look, Design, Screen size,
Disadvantages: None at all
...screen it's very important that you lock the phone when not in use, pressing the dedicated button once on the side of the phone will lock the phone and stop any little accidents - ie calling your friends at silly o clock. It's very easy to unlock too, just press and hold the button and it will unlock.
Camera/Video - another huge reason why I bought this phone, it has a 5million pixel camera which has a flash too. It's so like using a normal digital camera. The quality is simply amazing and is far better than any phone I have ever had. You would honestly think you where using a normal digital camera. It has a two camera one on the front and one on the back too making it very easy to capture that picture. You have options to edit the picture once taken too. The video clips are also fantastic to. I have taken pictures in very dark areas...

LG Viewty reviewed. iPhone killer? Nope.
Review of LG KU990 Viewty by
andersonfamily
Advantages: QWERTY; touchscreen; powerful camera; 3G
Disadvantages: QWERTY can't be used at all points in phone; poor stylus storage
...I have recently got an LG Viewty (aka LG KU990), courtesy of Outside Line, to review and keep.
The main features of this HSDPA (3G) mobile is the touchscreen and on-screen QWERTY keyboard. In addition to this, it boasts a 5MP camera with a proper flash and a low light setting up to ISO 800.
The phone comes with a USB lead, headphones and charger.
Dimensions and stylus: small and lipstick-like stylus
The Viewty is fairly small, much smaller than my current XDA Exec, measuring roughly 105mm x 55mm x 15mm yet it still manages to boast a 3" screen!
I'm guessing it's aimed at a female target audience due to it's lipstick-like expanding stylus (to control its touchscreen). There's no obvious place to insert the stylus in the phone so I attached via a hook on the phone. This is far from perfect... I'd rather have storage...

Olympus C920 Digital Camera
Review of Olympus Camedia C-920 Digital Camera by
memoreks
Advantages: Low cost, good looks, high image quality, TFT screen
Disadvantages: Slow transfer speeds to the PC using the serial lead
...After a brief jaunt into the world of digital cameras with a simple little webcam, I decided to splash out on a full digital camera.
After a while looking at what was on offer, I decided on the Olympus C-920 digital camera. The camera itself is a sleek looking design, with a metallic golden tinge. a sliding lens cap activates the camera, and the lens protrudes from within the camera once the lens cover is slid back. There is also a built-in flash for low light conditions.
On the back, there are a few buttons for controlling the camera, along side a high quality 1.8" TFT screen for viewing the pictures you have taken, or for previewing your shot before you take it, instead of using the more traditional view-finder.
The camera's resolution is a respectable 1280x960, making the CCD a healthy 1.3 megapixels in size. At SHQ...

Digital Camera - I think Not
Review of Digital Dream l'espion digital camera by
tracythomson
Advantages: Good Toy for the under 10's
Disadvantages: Too many to list!
...I got my Digital Dream L'Esprit as part of a bundle with a new PC in December 2000. I thought at the time that this 'sounded' quite good as I had wanted a Digital Camera for some time. When I set up my PC and connected the camera I was very disappointed with the so called 'high quality' resolution. I like to dabble with photography and wanted something quick and easy to upload pics to my website - this product is NOT suitable for this task.
My husband laughed when I showed him the camera and asked if it was a child's toy... it looks like one! It is very small ...very cheap looking (as I beleive it is £30 -£40 retail) ... very poor quality!
When choosing my PC the salesmen bosted of the 3-in-1 digital camera included in the bundle.... there is no 3-in-1 that I would consider a selling point:
As a digital camera - it just does...

digital cameras versus ordinary cameras
Review of KODAK DC240 Digital Camera by
dorset
Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: photo quality
...I first bought the kodak DC240 Zoom digital camera. I thought I needed digital due to the amount of "on site" photographs I was taking.
The idea of taking photos and then simply "printing" them off of my computer seemed very appealing, especially that it meant that I could now have them straightaway on the same day and without even having to visit the local shop and return in an hours time. Excellent I thought.
Allthough I am not totally depressed with my camera, I am dissapointed with the quality of the shots. I had intended to use these shots as part of my companys portfoloi, but the problem is that the final product, on a size of A4 paper, appears very "washy", even after tampering with the photo.
I have learned that to have excellent photos, I need to buy an excellent camera which means spending money. The old addage of "you...

Digital Camera - Polaroid PDC 3030
Review of Polaroid PDC 3030 Digital Camera by
catm14
Advantages: small and compact, good quality pictures
Disadvantages: bleeping
...*Found you!*
I had been looking for a good digital camera for ages, and then i saw the polaroid pdc 3030. It was cheap, small and good quality, so i decided to buy it from argos.
Argos was doing a great deal:
The camera, a small pouch for the camera, and a 64mb memory card for just under £100. So overall it saved me quite alot.
*When it arrived!*
I opened the box it had came in, and looked to see that it come with 4 AAA batteries, a pad of instructions, a software cd, a wrist strap and a USB cable.
I then followed the instructions, and attached the wrist strap to the camera, and installed the software on my computer (windoes 98).
The USB socket was covered by some rubber, that protected it.
Near the microphone on the camera, there is a small socket. When you open it up, there is a small picture that shows which way round...
