THE LG DRIVE.
Review of LG GGW H20L Super Multi Blue by
apatra
Advantages: PERFORMES WELL LIKE OTHERS.
Disadvantages: NOT A LEADING NAME IN HARDWARES AND SLOW
...of restricted overwrite you are not allowed to over write either a program or a CD program.
Well in my own case, I am not regretting buying this because of its vigorous functions, is that it is very slow in performance.
THE DESIGN.
The LG hard drive comes in a black square colour but short. Quite heavy and strong feel when touched.
THE MAJOR FUNCTIONS.
The specific functions of the LG device is for copying, DVD and other disk format play back. Not only that, the LG drive is also capable of storing some disk in formations comfortably. LG GDR 8163B I love it
Review of LG GDR 8163B by
techman1862
Advantages: Brilliant and works with all disks i have used so far
Disadvantages: none really
...This LG GDR 8163B is the latest DVD-RW drive from LG and as per usual is Brillaint to use.
This is dual layer drive....8.5GB potential
Burns CDr's at 40x about 2 min 32 secs @600mb on an 80min/ 700meg cdr. Also does CDRW
DVD-r are a breese and the drive is very fast and quite.
DVD+r little slower but works fine with all mainstream disks.
DVD-Ram too but the disks a bit expensive so farfor me to try.
DVD-RW disks are a breese again using Nero newest version and back-up data is straight forward.
Have used Datawrite Grey 8x DVD-R and INFINITI 16x Green DVD-R no probs. But would suggest spending a little moer on good disks.
8XDVD-r time is about 7 mins for 4gb data and 7min 50 secs for DVD files.
Overall good machine and well worth the current cost of £35-£32....

GO BUY A SHIPLOAD OF CD's TO WRITE!!!☺
Review of LG GCE 8520B by
jedi_kickass
Advantages: Writing speed (52X), Reading speed (52X), Read quality, Cost (£30), Reads scratched CD's hassle free
Disadvantages: looks pretty bland, Not many direct features
...***MY EXPERIENCE. [5/5]***
I bought this Writer around 6 months ago for £30 through a close friend of mine. Earlier i had a Creative Infra 52X CD ROM ( i can't recall the model ) which was quite comfortable as it had a remote & its reading quality was very good, But it was EXTREMELY sensitive to slightly scratched CD's. I also needed a writer that could read scratched CD's as well & ....TARA RARA.........I came across the LG GCE 8520B CD/RW. Till date i haven't had any problem at all with the job this baby has done for me.
***READ QUALITY & SPEED. [5/5]***
My creative earlier used to take about 12 Mins to read a 700MB CD on an average. Where as the LG GCE 8520B takes around 4 Mins to read a 700MB CD with full data. And what more this can read most of the scratched CD's i have used till date [ Almost 90% ]. That solves my problem...

Budget Flatness
Review of LG 563LE by
andycharger
Advantages: Cheap monitor
Disadvantages: Seperate Power supply/ menu system
...You know me by now and my love for flatties. Yes, the new breed of monitor that is sweeping the world into a 2D Frenzy. No one knows what to fill their desk with now that the CRTs and being removed in favour of the TFTs.
Well like all things in life, Monitors come in either Cheap or expensive form.
Like most things in life, you can normally get as good a cheap one as an expensive one!
That applies to the excellent LG range of monitors.
LG have been around for about 2 or 3 years pumping out cheap PC extras under the PC World/Comet/Currys/Dixons umbrella. This includes other components such as CR Writers and DVD ROM Drives. I owned a CD Writer and I was really pleased with it. Jsut because it is cheap does not mean it is cheerful. I have had great performance from it and it has never let me down (reaching for a big piece of wood to touch...

Very Poor.
Review of LG GSA H55N Super-Multi by
stiffy249
Advantages: Dual Layer
Disadvantages: Slow loading Vista with setup screen and overall poor
...a performance test on two machines doing music cds. and a dvd.
On the music cds i both placed them on at the same time and same amount of tracks it was this drive vs the philips model.
I was even more disappointed with my findings. The cd on the LG (This one was behind 1 and half cds than the philiips which was roughly 8 mins difference it was that bad!
DVD Wise The Philips finished 5mins before this LG Drive did.
Both machines were the same specification and the same media player burner media player 11 with windows vista!
So there you have it a performance match where this drive failed big time.
Sorry.....

Burn baby burn!
Review of LG GCE 8523B by
sethsurvey
Advantages: Cheap and works like a dream.
Disadvantages: None.
...LG GCE 8523B
Continuing my quest to get back into the world of tech, I needed a reliable CD burner. I pondered getting a CD/DVD burner, but as I have never dabbled in the DVD ROM world in the past, and as I was building my system from scratch, I decided to go with what I knew best.
My last CD burner was an LG, and I was more than happy with what it produced. That one cost me £49.99 a couple of years ago, so I was expecting to pay around £30 this time.
I popped into Aria in Levenshulme, and they had some LD burners in the bargain bin. The LG GCE 8523B was in there and caught my eye immediately. The price also shocked me-£14.99!!! I grabbed it, and ran home.
The box contained the drive, am installation cd, cables, and a copy of Nero Smartsuite, that was not advertised on the box. Result!!! This is one of the best bits of software...

LG GSA H42N Super-Multi Review
Review of LG GSA H42N Super-Multi by
plunt
Advantages: Very Cheap, Changeable cover panels, Fast Speed
Disadvantages: No firmware, Region Locked, Major issues with burning regular cd's
... Introduction
As with most drives they do not last long, thus when it was time to give up the old one i went shopping for a new one. I came across this one which was extremely cheap and thus bought it as LG has become more reputable.
The Pros
This drive was very easy to install. It was practically a plug and play drive. It also came with different front panels in order to change colors from black and white. Although this may seem pointless it is a factor to take into consideration if you are after certain specification like color for your computer. The drive has never had a problem playing any cd's DVD's and etc. It is also very quiet unlike many drives out there. It dvd writing speed is 18x which thus means it takes less than 3 minutes to burn an entire dvd. Ironically the box states it can record approximately 100...

Review of MSI K8MM3-V - motherboard - micro ATX - K8M800 by
ManiDhillon
Advantages: Low Cost, High Performance, Good Built Quality, Almost latest hardware support
Disadvantages: No PCI-E Slot, Only 2 RAM Slots, Low Integrated GFX
...I'm using this product from a year. I bought a budgeted system containing MSI K8MM-V MoBo, AMD Sempron 2800+, 768 MB DDR 400MHz RAM, Sony DVD-RW DRU 170A, LG CD-RW/DVD-ROM, 80+80 WD SATA.
And the system is serving me very fine. The MotherBoard support 64 BIT AMD k8 processors upto AMD Athlon 3700+ [Socket 754] and upto 2 GB of DDR 266/333/400 DDR SDRAM.
It support almost all AGP 8x Graphic Cards but ATI one's are some what better than nVIdia.
3 PCI slots give you enough expandability. Two SATA and TWO IDE ports can accomodate upto 6 Drives [2 SATA and 4 IDE Drives]. It support UDMA 66/100/133 modes supporting upto 150 MB/s transfer.
In other words it is SUPERB....

No end of problems
Review of LG Electronics RH 177 by
adamlewis
Advantages: 80gb hard drive
Disadvantages: Large and unreliable
...The LG RH 177 is easy to install and set-up, and as you'd expect it has one touch record, time shift and playback. It comes with a 80gb hard drive.
When you attempt to go beyond the basic features you will notice a number of annoying features, such as;
1. When you set the player to record at set times, the system will not record if it is already switched on, particularly annoying if you're watching a DVD. You will receive a message on screen reminding you that it will start recording in X minutes, you then have to switch the player off and it will automatically switch itself back on.
2. Doesn't support Freeview, therefore if you're recording one channel and want to watch another, you can only watch an analogue channel.
3. System clock doesn't update automatically, despite having an option within the menu to do this. (I found this out...

LG RZ 42PX 11 is great value!
Review of LG Electronics RZ 42PX 11 by
peanut1973
Advantages: Excellent Value For Money
Disadvantages: Picture quality not quite as expected.
...Sitting at the bottom end of the price bracket for 42" plasma televisions, the LG RZ 42PX 11 is surprisingly good. LG make good quality products and this one stands out. The picture quality on analogue and DTV can be a little juddery at times; however the picture quality on DVD and Xbox is amazing. It is packed with features to enhance picture and sound quality (the sound is excellent and fills the room with ease), with a very easy to use menu system. We found setting up a doddle, and really appreciate the multiple inputs (5 scarts and PC/camera inputs) as our system is all set up and no fiddling of wires is now needed.
The design is simple and stylish, with minimum clutter on the front and accessible inputs on the side. The stand is uncomplicated and sturdy, and the whole package looks great.
I would have no hesitation recommending...
