Advantages: Looks the business. People get out of your way ! Engine is very athletic ;-) Disadvantages: Put your foot down and you see the petrol gauge drop !!!
...the key and it fired ! 1st time after a week of being idle ! How's that for being reliable !!! I have had some cars in years gone by that have died in less than a week ! Needless to say the 4 litre engine was rearing to go ! So I gave my lil Tonka Jeep a good run today - the battery level meter was on half, which is fine - perfectly normal. I thoroughly enjoyed giving me Jeep a good run, and was really pleased to be back in a left-hand-drive car, not that all Jeeps are LHD, but mine is (it was imported in 1994) and I love it - everything is on the correct side for me ! and I find LHD cars easier to drive - but maybe that is just me ;-) Happy motoring Ciaosters ;-)...

Review of Jeep Cherokee 4.0
Advantages: Fast, fun, solid build, reliable engine, and very safe Disadvantages: Not very pratical, more of a posers car then a serious sports car
...Test model
Audi TT 225 Quattro
Reg No. X665 NLB
Imported model LHD
Mileage 73,100
Actual 0-60: 5.5 secs
Obtained MPH: 147mph
The Audi TT since its release has been a highly successful coupe. Released in 1998 in Europe the baby Audi has certainly proved it is not a baby under the skin. Our model we purchased is a 2000 X plated imported model (registered UK in 2002) has got just over 73,000 miles and is the metallic denim blue, with the RS4 18" alloys. A truly stunning car.
We bought our TT for £9495 not bad considering the mileage and the fact it's a 225 Quattro with 18" alloys, full blue inside, and a 10 CD changer. I live in Birmingham and picked up the car from the Bucks town of Chesham so had to quickly find my bearings in a town I had never been in a LHD car. It was interesting. After a few payment issues...
Advantages: Practical, fun, camper, comfortable, easy to service. Disadvantages: Upgrades are expensive, can be costly to run if you do ALOT of miles.
...alloys, but the professional conversions are the ones to go for, unless you can buy a panel van and do the work yourself.
There's many conversion's avaliable, sometimes LHD is cheaper, sometimes not. Once you buy a decent T25 you won't be looking back but definitly get someone who has had T25/T3's before, not just a common mechanic to look at it, as they will probably miss a few things others won't
It's around 22-30mpg depending how heavy your right foot is, parts can be bought from eurocarparts or german-french-swedish and easily fitted with a haynes manual....

Review of Volkswagen Bus T3
Advantages: Small, cool, a joy to drive, minimal costs Disadvantages: Only a 2 seater. Price of RHD car is higher then LHD
...The MCC Smart and Passion is the finest car I've ever owned. Let me
elaborate why!
(Please note this is written in a different category to the other Smart op I wrote that one is in MCC Smart general, whereas this one is in the specific model category!)
After liking this car for some time now, I finally purchased one in September. The price paid for this LHD Smart and Passion was £7100, which was slightly discounted after taking into consideration the options that I chose.
You should be aware that stocks of LHD Smarts are being run down in the UK, now that DaimlerChrysler UK (DCUK parent company of MCC Smart) have introduced a long awaiting RHD version for the UK. Also you need to know that prices of RHD cars have increased over the LHD prices. Clear? Ok? Go to www.thesmart.co.uk for the latest pricing info!
The Smart...

Review of MCC Smart & passion
Advantages: Small, well-specified Disadvantages: See text
...running on pram wheels. Narrow road, poor visibility, high hedges and left-hand drive, No. Maybe a test drive in a PASSION?....
Undeterred, I checked out the mundane things like servicing and insurance. Now excuse me, but £125 for a minor service sounds a bit steep for a little car ... and I couldn't even get a quote for a major service. I also picked up a few 'hints' that the turbocharger was a bit suspect and might need replacing after 60,000 miles (!). As for insurance, well OK, it's LHD and a novelty .... but everyone I tried quoted me higher than a standard family car to insure.
Result ... fun car for the city for one person or the occasional two, but at a price. Not so good for my needs, so I'll keep looking....

Review of MCC Smart & pulse
Advantages: See op Disadvantages: People staring at it! Dodgy after sales care from some SEAT Dealers.
...UPDATE ~ Bought a Leon Cupra, black with leather ~ will post an op under Seat Leon Cupra shortly when I've calmed down!!
EDITED VERSION OF THIS OP
Since its launch in early 2000, the SEAT Leon has emerged as the most highly acclaimed SEAT model produced by the Spanish arm of the VW/VAG group.
SEAT cars have the traditional VW build quality and mechanical/technical innovations borrowed from their German cousins. However the Latin styling flair and individuality is unique to all SEATs.
Striking youthful good looks and outstanding performance figures, coupled with the VFM factor associated with all SEAT models, have led to the Leon having a growing cult following, especially the 142 mph Cupra Sport models.
Built on the VW Golf floor-pan, the Leon is a medium sized 5 door hatchback (although a 3 door is produced only in LHD...

Review of SEAT Leon 1.4 16v
Advantages: Just a total new concept and great fun Disadvantages: Heavy Steering at slow speeds
...pay £75 year on all Mark 6 Smarts - - mine is apparently a Mark 5. The Mark 6's which came out about the same time mine was registered are 698cc but have a lower exhaust emission thus qualifying for the Band AA rating. The Mark 6's have distinctive peanut shell shaped headlights which are referred to in the brochure as "Cabriolet Styled." I have checked my Oxford Dictionary and a cabriolet can be a Motor Car with a folding top. Why motor cars with folding tops need peanut shell shaped headlights I am not at all sure.
So there you are - if you are thinking of buying a pre Mark 6 Smart you will get a smaller engine with a higher exhaust emission and Road tax.
Original Smarts were designed by Swatch, the Swiss innovate watch manufacturers. The first Smart cars were all LHD because they were imported from continental Europe. Now LHD...

Review of MCC Smart Limited
...onboard fuel economy meter, which I had as standard in previous VW Golfs. Great for those of a parsimonious disposition.
There are a number of LHD Beetles coming onto the second hand market in the UK. These were imported between 1998-99 before RHD models became available. Best avoid these cars as residuals are likely to be poor in the long run.
And the Ugly:
OK, I don't like the plastic wheel trims supplied with the basic 1.6, precisely why I upgraded to alloys. And I can take or leave the flower vase.
But apart from that, this ain't no Ugly Bug!
You want alternatives? One springs to mind- the new BMW Mini is well worth checking out, but that's another review!...
Advantages: Good handling, quick, fun and good value. Disadvantages: Small boot, average stereo, build quality.
...My wife has wanted one of these ever since they first appeared ? but VW have only just got round to launching the TDI version in the UK. The order books opened on Christmas Eve, and we have just collected our Double Yellow TDI, complete with Weather Pack, Winter Pack, Park Sensor and alloys. The UK Beetle TDI uses the 100bhp PD engine recently launched in the Golf ? not the older 90bhp unit fitted to LHD cars. It replaces a Golf IV GT TDI, and lives with a BMW 320d.
First of all, some points about Beetles generally, to save you searching. When you first sit in one, it feels weird ? there is a huge expanse of dashboard ahead of you, and you can barely reach the windscreen. None of the extremities are visible, and the natural reaction is to move the seat forward. Then you find yourself banging your knuckles on the centre console...
