Review of Acer Aspire 5738ZG

Acer plays the Ace card again!

Advantages: Small, lightweight, great performer. Can handle some 3D games.
Disadvantages: None for the Netbook, but Linux version is rubbish.

...only because the reviewers are comparing it to something more powerful or expecting more. For me, installing XP was the right thing to do as I can install all my usual programs which isn't possible with Linux. As the performance was more than I was expecting I can't fault it and considering the hardware installed and the price paid I was not expecting such a performance. The battery life for some may not be enough but as its only intended for browsing, checking mail and the like, it's good enough for me. Other batteries are available from around £60 and will extend usage to 6 hours. It's better to buy Acer branded ones. On a recent cruise the A150 was a dream to have for keeping in touch with the kids back home and being so small you hardly even know you're carrying it. The ability to play some older games was a bonus I wasn't expecting...

Upgrade to a vibrating phone cheaply

Advantages: Feel your phone whenever you are
Disadvantages: It can shoot your phone across a hard surface and does make a bit of a noise.

...I had, which was a slim line one, thinner than the standard 5110/6100 battery. It was also Li-Ion which meant I did not have to run it down every time I wanted to charge it. The battery cost £15 plus delivery, sorry can not remember the online shop but it was based in America. But I have found www.cellsavers.co.uk do them for £13.99 plus delivery is free at the moment....

Review of Nokia 5110/6110 Li-Ion vibrating Battery

Nice in principle, crap in practice

Advantages: Light, makes the phone a lot better physically
Disadvantages: Noisy vibration, battery life is rubbish

...I saw this battery at a computer fair, and i thought it would make a nice addition to my 5110. I picked it up, and on feeling it's weight, had to buy it. Got it home, charged it up and rang it from my home phone. On discreet, the vibration is noisier than the phone on 'personal' tones. I was appalled as to how noisy it was. i was not to be put off by its loudness, however, so i thought the battery life may be a lot better than the standard NiMH cell. Again, i was proved wrong by this awful accessory as the battery life is about 2 days with this battery: the standard 1 is about 5 days to 1 week. So, all in aleft with is a short-life, noisy-on-silent phone. it does have one saving grace: my phone is now lighter than the 3210. Kiss my ass 3210 owners !!!!...

Acer Aspire One = Number 1!

Performance is excellent, even though it is only a 1.6GHz CPU and 1 GB of RAM Windows XP Pro and the Linux OS fly. Office 2007 is quick and responsive. I can't think what else to write about it, its cheap no frills, does the job, machine. It will suit anyone on a tight budget wishing to start out on the internet, it will also suit those out on the move a lot but i do recommend getting the better battery if this is the case, or those who want a light portable computer. Aspiring to be inspiring! Is this another Ace Acer?

Advantages: SUPERB battery life, relatively portable and very slim.
Disadvantages: For basic and general business use, not games.

Firstly, I want to make clear that the Acer Aspire 4810T is a laptop to consider for business use, or non-graphics-intensive applications such as Word, Excel and standard internet browsing. One feature I particularly like is that the screen opens out 180 degrees to flat (I have no idea why it does this, I think this is great, (I don't even know for what reason it does this) But I just like it. It may be an ACER, but this is simply ACE

Advantages: Fast, great-looking and a gorgeous bright screen for viewing dvds
Disadvantages: Standard battery and not great for games

...is there and available - it's fast and reliable. There is however no bluetooth feature built-in. This is easily fixed by attaching an optional extra bluetooth-dongle (you can pick one up on ebay for around a fiver). Overall, the Acer Aspire 5536 is a fantastic laptop for fast, basic uses and for viewing DVD's on a gorgeous bright LCD screen. It will be reliable when using it for internet browsing and getting the all important university homework done. The battery is the industry standard of around 3 hours, which is average - no more, no less. Don't go expecting to be able to play Modern Warfare 2 on this laptop, as you'll be disappointed. But then, this isn't promoted as a games laptop anyway. Check out prices as they vary. It's fairly easy to find the laptop at under £400 on various sites, but always check up on the returns...
