CanoScan LiDE 100 - I Love My LiDE
Advantages: Fabulous quality for scanned documents, both colour and B&W
Disadvantages: Somewhat slow when scanning at highest resolutions
...I bought my CanoScan Lide100 for home use earlier this year (2009) after having used the CanoScan Lide 25 at work for 3 years or so. Having used it for several months now, I thought it was time I shared my views on how it fares as a flatbed scanner. Anyone who really knows me will know that I'm obsessed with taking photos and have 1000s of digital photos stored online and I really wanted to scan in my old photos pre-digital era and wanted a decent scanner mainly for this reason.
WHAT IS IT?
The LiDE is a lightweight flatbed scanner, i.e. a device that can optically scan text or images when the original document is placed on the glass platen. If you?ve never used a scanner before, imagine photocopying a sheet of paper or photo but instead of the photocopy coming out on a physical sheet of paper, it comes up on your PC as...

Canon LiDE 35 Scanner
Advantages: lightweight, fast and easy to set up and use. nice slimline design.
Disadvantages: None that I have found
...A few months ago my old Agfa Snapscan 1212 gave up the ghost. Not surprising because I've had it since? it's been that long I honestly can't remember! It connected to the computer via the parallel port and was slower than the M25 with just one lane open. Mind you, just like the M25 when I first used it I thought it was terrific!
It was in PCWorld that I first looked at the Canon LiDE35 - I'm afraid I wanted this machine so badly, I didn't shop around and bought it there and there. I loved its slim looks and the fact that it didn't need it's own power supply. It works directly from the USB connection.
The scanner was well packaged in a nice strong box with a carry handle that I found handy to keep it stored when it's not in use. The software was child's play to load and easy to understand. It also linked itself to my Photographic...

Canoscan LiDE 90
Advantages: Easy to use, Affordable, small design and looks really nice.
Disadvantages: Hinges seem flimsy and once the scanner failed to load.
...If you need a Sleek, High Quality and Affordable scanner, Look no further. It is so simple, Put the document in, press scan, DONE!!! I paid £50 for my scanner, the image quality is spectacular. The Pros are; Easy to use, Affordable, small design and looks really nice. The Cons are; Hinges seem flimsy and once the scanner failed to load. Another Pro is that it is small and light, which means, that if the lid falls while you are loading documents, it wont break your fingers or cause permanent damage, unlike my last one. The package comes with power cable, software, User manual and Certain software discounts. If you are looking for a professional, but easy to use scanner, from a reputable company, You can not go wrong with the LiDE 90....

Canon Lide 50- 12 months on
Advantages: fast, good resolution, good value, software bundle
Disadvantages: none to think of
...I bought the Canon LiDE 50 scanner just over a year ago, to replace an aging and very slow USB 1.1 model from an alternate manufacturer.
Speed + resolution were my main initial requirements, as was a compact design. At the time of purchase, there were very few USB 2.0 [or Hi-Speed, Enhanced USB depending on your 'Device Manger' listing in Windows] compliant scanners, and the price was very fair [£70 including VAT and delivery].
Software very useful to install and a generous package supplied, including a full version of Adobe PhotoShop Elements 2.0 [OEM version, no manuals but who cares at that price] a reasonable OCR application, CanonScan tool box and more [the others I haven't bothered to install so will not comment on them].
First reaction to removing the scanner from the box was ' wow, it's so sleek?. I could fit 3-4 Canon...

CanoSCAN LiDE 20 - Slim Perfection
Advantages: Slim, small, lightweight, portable
Disadvantages: Little bit noisy
...I bought my laptop a few months back and figured id buy a new scanner while I was there. I wanted something small, lightweight, portable and good looking ? for a reasonable price. And I found it.
The CanoScan LiDE 20 is one of the lightest, most portable scanners I?ve seen - It weighs next to nothing, and I frequently carry it in my laptop bag when im moving around.
The scanner itself features three ?EZ? buttons ? which couldn?t make scanning any more simpler. One press and your away. It comes with a nifty little stand, which allows for upright scanning ? which is perfect, if like me you have limited desk space. Another great feature is it?s ?Z-Lid? making it possible to scan large items that wouldn?t normally fit under a regular scanners lid ? such as large books. The fact that it is bus powered, means you don?t have extra cables...

A Near Perfect Scanner
Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: A little slow to scan at the highest resolution
...We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up.
AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES
The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so you don't need a separate power supply which is very handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option.
Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. The software that comes with the scanned allows you to scan documents to PDF too and you choose...

CanoScan.....Can't
Advantages: Very sleek and stylish looking, slimline. Scans quite fast.
Disadvantages: Expensive for the specs. Lack of any special features. Limited Colour producing capabilities.
...After the success the Hewlett Packard 2400 scanner provided a couple of months ago, I recommended my friend (who went on a skiing trip last month) buy one to print out his holiday snaps. After a bit of searching he found this ; the CanoScan LiDE 35 scanner. He bought it online for 49 pounds shipped and including VAT.
After it was delivered, we had a chance to test it out on about forty of the newly developed snaps he'd took while on holiday, aswell as a few A4 pages of A-level revision sheets.
Installation
Before we tested it however, it needed installing. Installing scanners (or any input components for that matter) is a doddle. You simply plug it in to a USB port in the back of your computer, and then insert the software CD which most come with and install the software.
The CanoScan LiDe 35 comes with a modest...

canons ultimate scanner
Advantages: fairly easy to use and great software
Disadvantages: yet to find one
...transfers and scanning speeds.
The included software greatly enhances resolution, up to an amazing 19200 colour dpi. Built-in retouching technology removes much of the dust and scratches on original prints, and revives faded images. One convenient cable to your computer provides both a USB connection and power. Large function buttons automate the scanning process - select the use for the image, and it's ready in seconds.
priced between 65 and 80 pound this scanner is nowhere near the most expensive on the market but cant be far off being one of the best!
feast your eyes over its impresive Specifications.
