Reviews of lidl
I want a Lidl of that !!
Review of Lidl (Shop) by
spoilt_little_br
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: pay for bag's, untidy stores
...I bet for many of you on here, when you hear the name ‘Lidl’ think cheap food, bad quality, for poor people, and until recently I would have fully agreed with you. My opinion of the German supermarket lidl has never been very high and as an influential teenager I would have never been caught dead in my local branch.
My first experience of Lidl was in 1995 when a new store opened in Frome, Somerset. My parents were never poor but we loved a bargain and Lidl’s looked like the place we would get this. I wasn’t very impressed initially as I could see no big names like walkers or Cadbury’s and the sound of baked beans costing as little as 4 pence sounded far from intriguing.
However my opinion changed dramatically last year when I found a very respectable Management job at…yes you guesses it- Lidl...

Lidl leaving the brands behind
Review of Lidl (Shop) by
brittle1906
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful, easy parking
Disadvantages: Mainly own branded goods
...LIDL SUPERMARKET.
Lidl, a 'low price' supermarket has two branches in my area, a town centre shop and an out of town superstore.
The company began in the UK back in the mid 1990's and now has several hundred stores across the country. The Lidl concept is a 'stack 'em high, sell 'em low' one. The shops tend to be rather warehouse-like with goods stacked high either side of the aisles.
The Lidl logo is a little wacky, a yellow banner with the name in blue, apart from the ' I' which is offset and red. The store's motto is 'Where Quality is Cheaper'
Most of the Lidl own brand goods seem to originate in Europe, the quality is consistently good. I find their fruit and vegetables exceptionally good value for money and their cheeses likewise. Prices tend to be fairly reasonable across the board, with own brand digestive biscuits...

Lidl - Its just plain sensible
Review of Lidl (Shop) by
ciaomc
Advantages: Clean Shops, Helpful Staff, CHEAP
Disadvantages: Long Queues, Products not always guaranteed
...Are you the type of person who loves to try different things? Do you have to be tough when it comes to shopping for food because you can only afford to buy the things you need? Do you mind long queues and packed shops? If you answered yes to all three then you simply MUST try Lidl.
Lidl is a relatively new company, which has followed in the footsteps of other low cost food stores such as Netto. Like Netto, Lidl is originally from a different country, and has chosen to break into the English market because of the obvious need for low cost food and home goods in our expensive country.
Lidl began operating in the mid 1990’s and since then has grown to what it is today – a head office and distribution centre in Warrington, and I think just under 200 stores scattered throughout the UK.
The first thing you will notice upon...

Lidl - Worth a second look
Review of Lidl (Shop) by
weenawoo
Advantages: Cheap and surprisingly cheerful!
Disadvantages: No baskets
...I used to live in London and we were surrounded by supermarkets and food shops: Tesco, Sainsbury, Safeway, Waitrose, M&S - you name them; we had them. Our nearest supermarket was Lidl. I only ever went there on about two or three occasions. It was awful!
It was a fairly new store but seemed so run-down and badly managed that the times I didshop there I left feeling depressed. OK, so it was cheap - but it was definitely not cheerful!
These days I live on the west coast of Scotland, we have a Tesco, a Co-op - and a newly-opened branch of Lidl. When word first got out that “some funny sounding supermarket” was going to open here I did my best to spread the word. “Oh, no” I said, in my best Frankie Howerd voice, “you won’t want to shop there” I assured everyone that I would certainly never step foot in the place.......
.....well...

A Lidl bit of this & a Lidl bit of that
Review of Lidl (Shop) by
Lezann
Advantages: Salad,Veg and Fruit Prices !!
Disadvantages: buying carrier bags & lack of checkout staff
...In my home town, Lidl's is situated behind Asda - Now Asda's car park is always ram jam full - but Lidl's has loads and loads of parking bays - but I am astounded as to why that is........
Lidl's fruit, salad stuff and vegetables are well below the price that Asda sell their's for, and the quality is very good too... it almost looks homegrown. You can stock up on an abundance for what seems a bargain price compared to Asda. So, with this is mind, that's why I get my fruit and veg from Lidl's.
Their frozen section is pretty good too, and I have tried lots of there own products from french fries, breaded cod (one of my family's favourites), chicken burgers, prawns, spring rolls, pizzas etc... and have no complaints what so ever - the prices are excellent and the amount of offers they have from one week to the next is great - every...

Lidl is simply the best
Review of Lidl (Shop) by
Starjumps
Advantages: Very good food at very low prices.
Disadvantages: Customers packing slowly at checkouts.
...I have read over 65 opinions on Lidl and felt it may help if you know all the facts.
Lidl is a discount food retailer operating and well known in European countries.Since opening the first stores in the UK in 1994,Lidl has kept its pledge to "bring down the prices of food" forever and has become a household name for brand quality at unbeatable prices to an ever growing number of customers thoughout the UK.
Lidl(pronounced Leedle)has 4 main principles;
*Keep costs as low as possible
*Get the best deal around
*Keep it simple and brief(in the office, supplies,on the phone!)
*Every thing they do must benefit there customers!
I have been shopping at Lidl since 94 and I find it hard to fault them.
A lot of people make the mistake in comparing them with chain stores such as Tesco and Asda,Lidl are in a different league.
When I go...
