Lidl
Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: none
...A little bit of Lidl history
Lidl is the last name of the man who founded the store, Ludwig Lidl. The company was founded in the 1930's by a member of the Schwarz family. In 1973 Lidl opened their first discount store but then in 1977 the opened another 30. The right to use the Lidl name had to be bought and was bought from Ludwig for 1000 deutsche mark.
There is some confusion about the way Lidl is pronounced, most comonly people pronounce it lid-ell but this is wrong. It is actually pronounced Lee-dell which is the german pronunciation.
Personally i have always pronounced it lid-ell.
I live across the road from a lidl store and it is so handy. I do not go there to do my weekly shopping but i go for the basics, bread, milk etc. I also love the special offers and great deals that they offer. Deals they have had recently include...

A 'lidl' about Lidl
Advantages: Good for some things
Disadvantages: Not so good for other things
...Until a couple of years ago, I didn't even know Lidl existed. This was partly due to living pretty much inside my head most of the time, and even when I did spot my closest Lidl branch whilst a bus I was on one day passed by the shop, I for some peculiar reason got the impression that it was a used car sales showroom. I think it was my sister who suggested I pay Lidl a visit, her explaining to me that in fact it wasn't a car showroom - but a shop which sold cut price foodstuffs. My passion for all things edible together with my increasingly diminishing bank balance urged me into hopping on a bus to see what this magical Lidl place was all about.
At the time, and I have since cured myself of this particular piece of snobbery, I had a deep prejudice against any kind of food store where you had to put a £1 coin in a slot to release...

A lidl cash goes a long way
Advantages: great prices and no frills
Disadvantages: some unknown brands
...of the JFP family budget, it is well worth investigating what parts of the household shop can be completed satisfactorily at Lidl.
No frills is what they do, and they mean it. There are no free bags, very small packing areas so that you are encouraged to take your goods away from the till and pack them in a separate area, which speeds up the check out process.
We get through gallons of their very affordable fruit juices and I usually have a pack of 12 500ml spring water bottles in the car, as working from the car it can be hard to get a drink when I need one.
Parking is usually very good at all of the stores I have visited.
On one occasion I needed to return a faulty item, the staff dealt with it very efficiently with a minimum of fuss, just how it should be....

A Lidl Respect
Advantages: Great value, money back guarantee
Disadvantages: Small range
...think is yuk!
Ooooooooh
Nothing to lose,
So listen, please
Give Lidl respect
Like me
********************
They have special offers
Shoes and furniture, electronics
CD players and discs
DVDs and PCs
The staff seem friendly too
Not many of them though
These all seem such good reasons
I know I'm saving at least a third
I'm so very poor
Can't cope any more
I'm off for a drink
Don't divorces stink.
Ohhhhhhh
I’ve saved a packet
Just for a treat
I’ll buy vodka and orange
For meeeeee.
Thanks for singing!

Lidl leaving the brands behind
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful, easy parking
Disadvantages: Mainly own branded goods
...LIDL SUPERMARKET.
Lidl, a 'low price' supermarket has two branches in my area, a town centre shop and an out of town superstore.
The company began in the UK back in the mid 1990's and now has several hundred stores across the country. The Lidl concept is a 'stack 'em high, sell 'em low' one. The shops tend to be rather warehouse-like with goods stacked high either side of the aisles.
The Lidl logo is a little wacky, a yellow banner with the name in blue, apart from the ' I' which is offset and red. The store's motto is 'Where Quality is Cheaper'
Most of the Lidl own brand goods seem to originate in Europe, the quality is consistently good. I find their fruit and vegetables exceptionally good value for money and their cheeses likewise. Prices tend to be fairly reasonable across the board, with own brand digestive biscuits...

A LIDL money goes a long way
Advantages: Cheap.......very, very, cheap. And a great range of foods
Disadvantages: Haphazard storage on occasion, manky veg
...I have to confess, I used to think of LIDL with some amoutn of disdain. Although we never had one locally to me as a child, visits to stores near friends houses always left me with a bad impression. However, when one opened up not five minutes from my house, in the interests of fairness, I had to give it a try .
Actually, to hell with fairness. There was one reason, and one reason only why i entered the store that day. Bratwurst! I feel a little backstory is in order here.
I grew up an army brat. Whenever my dad got posted, so did we. We moved between England and Germany pretty much constantly for the first ten years of my life, and I got used to the diet over there. As I grew older, most of the foods i'd eaten vanished from my memory, but one particular food was etched in my memory- Bratwurst, a large, slightly spiced german sausage...

Lidl by Lidl they they are getting worse.
Advantages: See text.
Disadvantages: See text.
...I would just like to write a review on Lidl, for my sins I admit to actually having shopped there before now - I am still receiving couonselling for it! But in all fairness though, there are a small number of advantages to this wonderful German shop, although they possibly get outweighed by the disadvantages. However, whatever your feelings and thoughts (or whatsoever else they may be) on this shop I intend to break from my usual style of writing in order to criticallyl review this one.
Advantages:
The shop is usually much smaller, therefore you don't spend quite so much time as you actually would do elsewhere in looking for what you want.
There are no added frills such as toilets; restaurants and/ or clothes departments in order to make you spend more money. But with that said, they do usually in fact have a small section...

I want a Lidl of that !!
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: pay for bag's, untidy stores
...tell you they are all delicious (yes I have tried most of them on your behalf…it was my pleasure!)
You can buy anything from Quality streets, Mars bars, Twix etc or try delicious German and Belgium delicacies.
My best are the bars of milk chocolate (only 20p) and the chocolate chip cookies. They are a must if you have a sweet tooth just like me!
The crisps on offer are just as nice. There are big names like Walkers and Hola Hoops or Lidl’s own brands of family mix crisps. All very nice and all extremely reasonable.
Drink
“”””””
The soft drinks on offer are excellent and there is so many to choose from. There is your basic orange, apple and blackcurrant but even nicer are the fruit juices on offer. Ice tea, cranberry, pear are just a few of my favourites.
There is...

Lidl vrs Mainstream Supermarkets.
Advantages: Cheap honest prices.
Disadvantages: Dont offer everything you may need.
...Lidl Supermarket
Newton Road 173
TQ2 7AJ Torquay/Torbay
The general concensus is that when times are hard we reduce the quality of produce we buy from a Supermarket. I personally dont agree with this. In my opinion people tend to change where they buy it from in the main.
Lets be honest, most people a few years ago would never admit to shopping in Lidl. Perish the thought. Actually once you have braved the taboo you will find that it has a lot to offer.
The prices for the majority of the items are cheaper than the mainstream chains. The quality in generally the same. I would reiterate that all teh main players have their "Own" brands, which i have found in general not to be as good as the brands on offer in Lidl. Tesco value products in the main are of a low quality.
Its food name snobbery basically.
Lidl uses...

So cheap it should be fashionable. LIDL.
Advantages: Save ££££££££'s
Disadvantages: Limited on range
...I have known the supermarket chain ever since they first arrived to England, when the built one of the first stores 5 minutes away from my house when i was barely a teenager.
At a young age, i didn't really take much notice, after all why would a young girl living at home really care. Although i did know the "Stigma" cast over the store. It was the supermarket version of Primark and Nicks Trainers (Although Primark is now the height of fashion and it's cool to be money savvy). My mum was always a fan and still is all these years later. It's actually become a event of checking their website for the up and coming offers.
When i left home nearly 3 years ago and had my daughter, I'll be honest, I steered clear of LIDL because of the stigma and shopped at ASDA and Morrisons instead.
When times starting getting tough with the "Credit...
