Lido De Jesolo

Advantages: Its safe, fun and very family friendly
Disadvantages: More expensive due to a weak pound currently .

...My family and I have visited Jesolo twice in the last 4 years. Here are our thoughts on Lido De Jesolo: It has been and in some respects rightly called the Blackpool of the Adriatic. I can see why people would say that. Its a family resort primarily and has lots of shops and local traders all plying for your euros. There however the similarity ends. Jesolo is wonderful. Its clean, vibrant, hospitable and family orientated. Without doubt the place to go with a young family if you want a bit on sun, sand and entertainment. I was shocked on our first night ot as the main road closed to vehicles in the evening. We just strolled along taking in the atmosphere, you still have to avoid the numerous cycles though. There is a distinct lack of night clubs etc but that only adds to the place in my opinion. I an say with all honesty i...

Review of Lido di Jesolo, Veneto

Bad accomodation & poor service.

Advantages: Private beach
Disadvantages: On a busy road, so lots of traffic noise all night

...This is definitely not a 3*, we've stayed in 3*s before and the accomodation and service we recd here was far below a 3*. The guest area has furniture which looks like it was bought from a pawn shop and it smells like the place wasnt cleaned or aired in years, definitely a stark contrast to the nice fresh breeze of Lido. The rooms have cracks in the walls which have been filled with plaster and the toilets have rusty shower fittings. The television makes you feel like you are back in the 70s as they are black and white. Also you have to watch out for the wardrobe linings as they fall our suddenly and tend to get you on the head or between the legs! On our second night (of 7) we used the airconditioning only to find out that it was leaking, when it brought it to the attention of the owner, a Mr. Guido, he started giving us an elaborate...

Lido De Jesolo

Advantages: Cheap to get to
Disadvantages: No Italian atmosphere

...I've just returned from a weeks break in Lido De Jesolo, a beach resort on the adriatic coast of Italy, just 30 miles from Venice. The resort is huge. The beach stretches for 15km's and is crowded with rows upon rows of umbrellas and sun loungers. A bit too regimented for me but certainly a sight to behold. The beach itself is clean and the sea is shallow until quite a way out, which makes it ideal for kids. In fact the whole resort is ideal for kids. There is a huge amount for them to do, from funfairs and arcades to an aquapark. Unfortunately, that means that the resort is packed with family's and young children. Not what you want when your just a couple looking for a bit of peace and quiet. Also the resort, which is purpose built and so lacks Italian atmosphere, seems to be a big favourite with the Germans. As a consequence, almost...

Lido Life

Advantages: Nice to cool down and chill out on a hot day
Disadvantages: No go zone in bad weather

...Tinside Lido is situated on the historic Plymouth Hoe in Plymouth, Devon. Built in 1935 this art deco Lido was fully restored in 2003, at the cost of £3.4 million, after some years of neglect had left the grade II listed building more of an eyesore than a landmark. It is an unheated, seawater (treated) swimming pool open to the public for just a few months in the summer season. When I was a youngster I often swam at this pool either with my family or under the supervision of Port Of Plymouth Swimming club and have many happy memories. After the refurbishment I swore I would never swim there again, as, in my opinion too much money was spent on a pool that would only be open for a few months of the year when we have a dire shortage of decent indoor swimming pools in Plymouth. The place is really dependent on nice weather to get...

Food LIDO way!

Advantages: Loads of food!
Disadvantages: Always full of people

...The Recreation Center Lido is a Business Card of Riga. It offers such features as the beer cellar with its own mini-brewery, restaurant and bistro, live music, open air ice-rink and attractions in the amusement park, shops full of souvenirs, as it is a tourist destination. This place combines good traditional Latvian food, some international dishes, good home-made Latvian beer, good atmosphere and lots of fun! Recreation Center LIDO was opened in 1999. In 2001, it was expanded with the amusement park, which was completely finished in 2003 with opening an open air ice-rink. Ice-rink becomes an open air roller-skating-rink for the summer season and offers ice- and roller-skates rental. According to the official site, movement was made to strengthen the concept of family leisure place. The main building is one of the biggest log...

Review of Lido Recreation Centre, Riga

Di Maggios, decent Italian restaurant.

Advantages: Good food, nice atmosphere
Disadvantages: Something not quite perfect, a little too busy

...Di Maggios, as the name may suggest, are a string of Italian restaurants situated in and around the Glasgow area. I will be reviewing the city centre restaurant specifically which is situated in Royal Exchange Square but I believe that the quality and atmosphere have been similar in their other restaurants so would (slightly tentatively since I haven't been to them all!) recommend the others equally. I hadn't booked the restaurant and so was a little concerned that I would have to wait as it was a Friday night. Luckily there was room and my partner and I were seated straight away but it can get quite busy so I would recommend booking just to be sure if you really want to come here. From the start the waiter managed to achieve the right balance of being friendly but not intruding on us-my personal preference is when a waiter keeps out...

Acqua Di Gio

Advantages: Smells Great
Disadvantages: Can be expensive

...ml) £44.99 (100ml) I haven't seen it in a Bodycare or Savers yet but I will put the prices on if I see Acqua Di Gio on sale there. If you feel that those prices are a bit expensive, you may wish to purchase online. www.strawberrynet.com (Delivery - Free): £20.50 (30ml), £23.50 (50ml), £35.00 (100ml Splash), £37.00 (100ml Spray) www.cheapsmells.co.uk (Delivery £0.95 per item): £33.54 (100ml) www.supaperfume.co.uk (Delivery - Free): £26.75 (50ml), £34.49 (100ml) These prices are all for Eau De Toilette Spray unless stated otherwise. I think tehse prices represent how good Acqua Di Gio is and I think that it was £26 well spent at Superdrug and I expect my 50ml bottle to see me through to Easter next year. Acqua Di Gio is a perfume right from the top drawer. You can't go wrong buying this; the only downside maybe that it...

Review of Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio for Him

Acqua Di Gorgeous!

Advantages: An all day fragrance
Disadvantages: None

...This is undoubtedly one of my favourite fragrances. Acqua Di Gio is the older brother of Armani's new daytime fragrance Mania, and as such is a much more responsible mature fragrance, but no less fun! It is light, fresh and very different from the usual musky aftershaves for men. Plus it smells expensive! It is a light citrussy fragrance with rounded musky/woody undertones which make it good for nights out, but essentially this is a day time fragrance. This is for the young (and young at heart) professional - suitable for business meetings, as well as a night out on the town. It's a fun but formal fragrance and is slightly flamboyant compared to other mens aftershaves, but no less masculine - it's an alternative to the norm - which is always welcome! It is very distinctive and you do not need to wear a lot of it - it lasts...

acqua di mio!

Advantages: pretty unique, fresh!
Disadvantages: irritates my skin

...!* ~The packaging~ Acqua die Giò is available as an Eau de Toilette, and comes in a minty-green cardboard box. On the front of the box is written in dark green 'Acqua di Giò, Giorgio Armani, Eau De Toilette Vaporisateur natural spray. The bottle design is quite simple, made of frosted glass, with the name of the fragrance once again written on the front in dark green lettering. The cap is a platic golden affair, so the overall look is simple chic. The sprayer is of gold coloured metal and delivers short bursts of fragrance. The fragrance itself is acqua green, but sprays clear. ~The fragrance experience~ Acqua di Giò starts off with a top note of fresh cut flowers (sweat pea smells sweetly rosy), with middle notes of oceanic freshness, or the smell of a freshly rained upon garden, and then ambery woody musky notes round up the base...

Review of Giorgio Armani Aqua Di Gio

Fiori di Capri

Advantages: Scent, long lasting, unique
Disadvantages: price, difficulty to find

...The description of an essence is far more complex than the addition of formulas which jointly result in a perfume. Each component is especially chosen to represent a human characteristic, therefore making the perfume transcendent a single sense and, nearly define an entire personality. Fiori di Capri is the definition of class. The aroma is refined and utterly chic in a way that intimidates those who are not comfortable with luxury. Of all the perfumes I have encountered, Fiori di Capri is the most opulent without falling into the ridicule of excess. In order to understand Fiori di Capri, it is important to regard its origins and the legend which famed the creation of the Carthusia perfumery. Capri is a delightful island in the Bay of Naples and has been traditionally the home-in-the-sun for rich and powerful. There is something...
