limassol
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: none
...introduction
limassol is an interesting place to visit. It is located in the republic of Cyprus and it is arguably the best coastal area in Europe. Well at least I think it is amongst them anyway.
getting there
After a four hour air flight from one of London's Airport's to get to one of Cyprus Arrival lounges, getting to limassol is around thirty minutes to an hour travelling time via taxi or rented car.
things to do
The coastal area spans around twelve kilometers which makes swimming and sunbathing relatively easy to find a place to sit down and enjoy the sun. Also at certain areas of the coastal area. There are diving centres that offer a range of diving services. Some angling is also allowed. The downside to being exposed to the sun and will likely involve needing to purchase sun protection cream...

Limassol Castle - Well Worth a Visit
Advantages: Cheap to visit, very atmospheric
Disadvantages: Only an hour's worth of stuff to see
...The current Limassol Castle was structurally rebuilt by the Turks in the 19th Century. I visited the Castle in May 2009.
Limassol, in case you?ve never heard of it, is in southern Cyprus and is the second largest city of the island.
HOW OLD IS IT?
The original castle was apparently built around the 13th century and it is said that Richard I the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre here and crowned her Queen of England in 1191 after refusing to marriage his childhood betrothed supposedly as she was seduced by his own father. Why do I mention this particular marriage took place at Limassol Castle? Maybe you can check out the address of the Castle at the end of my review to see if you can guess how important this marriage was considered...

The Cyprus Medieval Museum is housed inside...

Limassol
Advantages: Great base for visiting the tourist sites. Has a fantastic waterpark
Disadvantages: Not really a disadvantage but more like a city in parts than an actual tourist resort
...Although I'd been through Limassol the last couple of times I visited Cyprus I'd never stayed there for a holiday. I have to be honest and say that it doesn't really compare with the beauty of Paphos or Protaras but I liked it anyway. Limassol (called Lemessos by the Cypriots) is the second largest town in Cyprus so, although there are a lot of nice bars, clubs and restaurants for the tourist it is principally a big, busy town with a large fishing docks where you can board luxury liners for short breaks to Egypt, Israel, and the Lebanon at very reasonable prices.
Colin and I had decided that we would spend most of our time diving during this holiday and we intended visiting the wreck of the Zenobia which was only an hour's journey away in the town of Larnaca. Anyway, that’s another opinion.
The three of us (my mother was...

Lovely Limassol
Advantages: Lots to do, great weather, good location
Disadvantages: Problems with hotel rooms, some rude staff
...I have just come back from a gorgeous week in the Hotel Atlantica in Limassol in Cyprus, and I feel absolutely miserable - this time yesterday I was sunbathing in the 40C heat with a Pina Colada (they were free!) and now I'm sat at the computer, in a jumper, freezing my bum off. It's so cold here! Anyway, I've got quite a lot to say about Cyprus and the Hotel Atlantica, so here we go!
CYPRUS
- - - - - - - - - - -
Cyprus is a an island located in the Mediterranean sea, south of Turkey, and close to Egypt. The official language is Greek, although being a former British colony, English is very widely spoken. The currency is the Cypriot Pound (CYP), which is 78p exactly, to our £1 sterling.
The weather is nice enough to visit Cyprus from April to about October. It's hottest in July and August - it was well in the 30's and 40's...

Limassol
Advantages: friendly citizens
Disadvantages: difficult parking
...Limassol, (or "Λεμεσός" - LemesOs - in greek), with about 170.000 habitats, is the second largest city (sea side) of Cyprus, a big island in Mediterranean Sea, Europe. Unfortunately, Cyprus is divided since 1974 because of Turkish invasion.
Never mind. Limassol, with its big port is nowadays a main trader in Europe and Middle East of local exports/imports. And Cyprus is well known for many food products mainly such us potato, grapes and more. It is a historic city from Byzantine years and probably before. There are many archaeological areas in Limassol, for example Amathus or Amathounta (Αμαθούς, Αμαθούντα) and Kourio (Κούριο), an ancient theater. Kourio is in the British base but this do...

Limassol Life and Soul
Advantages: Central Location, beaches, good night life, tradition, good resturants
Disadvantages: 52 days of rain
...Limassol, the 2nd largest city in Cyprus and by far the most cosmipolitan.
This area of Cyprus has just about everything you need to enjoy a few weeks of rest and recuperation.
From local tavernas run by Mom & Pop to 5* resturants and nightclubs. Whatever your heart desires you will find in Limassol.
There are some beautiful cove beaches where you can hire a sunbed & umbrella for about £2.50 cyp a day and be served frappe's at the waters edge while you laze in one of the 300 days of sunshine the island is bathed in.
If you wish to be more physical on your holiday, why not try one of the water parks? There is one located conveinently at Fassouri just outside Limassol with a bus service every day.
Beautiful walks maybe your thing and Cyprus has the mountains and the coastal walks that make you wish you could walk forever...

Cyprus with Babies - Limassol. Baby equipment hire company.
Advantages: friendly service, local company, great idea for tourists with babies and cyprus residents
Disadvantages: they only work in limassol
...We found a really helpful company just recently when family came for their holidays to Limassol.
We had our grandson coming to visit and needed a travel cot and a high chair.
A search on a local website pointed us in the direction of Cyprus with Babies! They hire out baby equipment in the Limassol tourist area, which was great.
We hired a travel cot which arrived in a bag and was set up in just a few minutes by the english staff who delivered it. We also got an extra padded mattress, a fitted bottom sheet, a top sheet and a lovely baby blanket. They don't provide pillows. Everything looked brand new and was spotlessly clean.
The high chair folded almost flat so could be put out of the way when we didn't need to use it and went into a couple of different positions in case our grandson was sleepy, he could lie back. There were straps...

Limassol - something for everyone
Advantages: Good choice of 4 and 5 star hotels, excellent facilites, excellent transport system, good base
Disadvantages: If you prefer a typical package holiday resort this may not be for you
...Limassol tourism over the last few years has reduced and hotels that once were are now being developed into luxiry apartment blocks on the seafront. Limassol has something for everyone, 5 star hotels, family hotels and a few self catering apartments. They have really improved the beaches here (some now blue flag beaches) and the facilites on the beaches so great for the sun worshippers and families. Limassol probably has some of the best restaurants on the island and something to suit every palate....truly international! The locals are a friendly lot they are also very European in their manner and outlook, you wont come across many people that dont speak very good English. Take time to explore the 'Old Town' area, this is where the Limassol castle is located and there are some fine restaurants and trendy or chilled out bars along here...

Lovely Limassol
Advantages: the complex has everything you need
Disadvantages: except a decent gym! (it's ok though)
..., we had managed to save nearly a thousand pounds. We felt proud of our efforts and we were looking forward to seeing what we could afford.
We went to 'Lunn Poly' and decided we would go on one of those last minute packages. Outside the travel agents we did get a little bit nervous, we had worked really hard for this money and we were about to blow it all, after a few seconds of thought we decided that we?d earned it and that we needed a break. We told the agent how much money we had and when we could go and it was only a matter of minutes before they were bowling us over with bargain breaks. After a lot of discussion (we were in there about two hours!), we decided on a self-catering break in Limassol, Cyprus.
The actual holiday cost us about £500 for the three of us including flights and transfers for 7 nights and then the travel...

Aloha Divers, Limassol
Advantages: Great dive school and great sites to visit
Disadvantages: Limassol is not the nicest area in Cyprus
...Prior to arriving in Limassol my husband and I starting trawling the net for diving schools in the Limassol area and after communicating by e-mail with several of them we decided to book up with Aloha Divers. They told us that when we arrived we could call them and they'd come and pick us up from our hotel but we managed to find them quite easily ourselves. They are situated in the tourist area of Potamos Yermasoyias on the main road, beside the Pizza Hut.
They do special prices for dive packs of either 4 or 8 dives. We ended up doing 12 dives plus 2 on the Zenobia wreck. We paid approximately 12 Cypriot Pounds per dive (we had our own kit) except for the 2 dives on the Zenobia which cost £C50 and included transport to Larnaca and a buffet lunch on the dive boat.
There are a good variety of dives off the Limassol coast. Most...
