harpic limescale remover
Review of Harpic (Anti-limescale products) by laurabaggy

Advantages: gets rid of the limescale very quickly
Disadvantages: the spout it comes out far too quickly and is easily spilt

...i have just bougt this product as i moved into a council flat and as you can imagine the toilet was covered in limescale after reading the back of the bottle i was worried about getting it on my hands and clothes i followed the instructions and found it worked amazingly i was sceptical but was proved wrong you could see the limescale come away from under the rim of the toilet its a fantastic product and i recommend it to anyone and it says on the bottle that it kills the germs and removes the limescale unlike bleach which just bleaches the limescale and thurns it white instead of removing it and i am very happy with this product there is only one thing i dont like about it and that is the spout as it comes out far to quick and is easily spilt which i nearly found out... GREAT LITTLE BLOCK OF CLEANING POWER
Review of Tesco (Anti-limescale products) by allyb2003

Advantages: Quick acting, does the job
Disadvantages: Needs lots to shift thick limescale

...This isn't going to be the best in the way of describing limescale as its in our toilet. We've tried numerous products to get of the limescale, but it just didn't shift, until we tried Tesco Anti Limescale tablets. They come in a packet of 8 in a bright yellow and green box and retail for around 80p or so which is very reasonable for a product like this as most other brands are over £1. On the box it instructs you with how many "tablets" to use on normal limescale build up, which is 1 tablet and advises that for best results this should be left in the toilet over night. For thick limescale use two tablets overnight. They come in little packages and can be corrosive to skin so you must wash your hands after using them. On contact with the water in the toilet bowl they start to fizz and work their magic. Next morning, flush... Read review

Removes Limescale on a Small Scale
Review of Sainsbury (Anti-limescale products) by witchwaysup

Advantages: Looks nice, smells nice
Disadvantages: Doesn't work

...I bought this product when searching out a major brand limescale remover. The bottle was nearly identical. The claims for ability to remove limescale were about the same. The only difference was the price, about 1 pound as opposed to 1.78p. There are certain products where it is not economical to buy the cheapest as only the big brands do the job. I didn't think this applied to toilet cleaner. I was wrong. I have to admit that I have allowed the limescale to build up quite a lot in my toilet, mainly because most limescale removers are far from environmentally friendly. There comes a time when I have to concede defeat though. Sainsbury's sell a lot of own brand products. By and large they are usually just as good as their more expensive well known brand names. As this product was about half the price of it's big brand counterpart I... Read review

Anti Limescale for cheap on a big scale
Review of Lidl (Anti-limescale products) by fritzthecat

Advantages: Cheap and functional
Disadvantages: Still leaves you with the same amount of clothes to iron...

...With two small children and a husband whose work-uniform seems to create a never-ending mountain of white shirts in our laundry basket, my washing machine is runing every day, sometimes even twice. As our budget was a little tight for a while I really found it expensive to pay about 5 £ for a small packet of Calgon Limescale tablets, especially as it never seemed to last for more then maximum two weeks. The alternatives were to stop using a limescale product and risk losing the whole machine (not a very clever option and most certainly very unhealthy for an overstretched household-budget) or find a cheaper solution. I decided to check what other products I could find. First I tried Tescos Limescale-Powder which was much cheaper, but didn't desolve so nicely and left big clumps in the drawer of my machine. So I decided to check... Read review

definately worth trying
Review of Calgon (Anti-limescale products) by hpearce

Advantages: reduces limescale build up
Disadvantages: cost

...I live in a very hard water area so gave Calgon (both the tablets and the boxed poweder) a try. You simply add them with your washing powder in the machine and set as usual. Simple. They help in several ways, they reduce the build up of limescale around the heating element, they reduce the amount of electricity used per wash (due to better efficiency) and they also remove the limescale from any other place in the washing machine - the drum has never looked cleaner! For a small amount of money paid in calgon tablets - I don't use tem every wash - I believe I am increasing the life of my washing machine, and that can't be a bad thing.... Read review

Spray away your limescale
Review of Limelite Power Spray by hannahcws

Advantages: Useful spray bottle
Disadvantages: Does leave a lingering scent

...Limelite limescale remover is a spray on limescale remover. I have used it in my bathroom and I am fairly impressed with the results. The general aim is to spray it on like a bathroom cleaner, leave for a couple of minutes and wipe or rinse off. I use the spray on my taps as they are quite calcified and also my toilet (if you are going to do this please don't use it with any other products like cistern blocks etc., as you could cause an explosion or noxious chemicals to be given off). I live in quite a hard water area and my toilet and taps often look quite grimey, last night I found my bottle of Lime Lite spray and went to work. I removed most of the water from the toilet bowl and sprayed a healthy amount on the bowl and left it, the product isn't designed to be used on enamel so i didn't leave it on for too long. I used the brush... Read review

It's the end of the lime for U.
Review of Parozone Fizz Tabs by topcat

Advantages: It works while you sleep
Disadvantages: none

...Having a toilet that below the rim would give Kim and Aggie (the grimebusters) nightmares, I have been on the hunt for something called Vortex which I had been told by a regular Ciaoer would resolve the problem of build up of limescale in my U-bend. After scouring (not literally!) many big stores (Asda,Morrisons,Safeway,Kwiksave, etc) I finally gave up the quest for Vortex and was resigned to my fate as owner of the toilet from the movie Trainspotting! Imagine my delight when I came across a product which pledges (no pun intended) to remove removes limescale with no elbow grease involved! The shop was called 'Home and Bargain' and sells many cheap items and I managed to get get a box of 8 tablets (100% extra free) for the princely sum of 89p. The instructions recommended 1 tablet to be left in the U bend overnight (or 8 hours... Read review

Kills germs fast. Or at least overnight
Review of Harpic (Anti-limescale products) by pennii

Advantages: See oppinion.
Disadvantages: None, unless you're silly enough to put it in your eyes

...I moved into my flat last November. A girl lived there before me, and according to a neighbour of ours she was 'Sooo clean, She was always cleaning! Honestly, she was the cleanest person I've ever known!' Yeah, well how come the toilet was more limescale then porcelain (or whatever toilet's are made of) and had more scum than the National Front? Mind you, there's a discarded shoe on the roof of a house directly opposite this neighbours house, and she thinks it's got a camera in it so the police can keep her under surveilence. Obviously, she was imagining things again. Anyhoo, we used to live with my mum so I've never had to bother with those boring jobs around the house that life's too short for, so I asked my mum what I should use to get rid of the nasty limescale. Immediately, she dragged me to the shop and made a bee line... Read review

clean toilet or not
Review of Asda (Anti-limescale products) by panda100

Advantages: the bottle doesnt drip when you use the toilet antu limescale
Disadvantages: it does not do what it is supposed to

...I was at the asda the other day doing my usual weekly marathon shop with the little ankle biters As any mum will tell you shopping with the kids is a nightmare as they always play up when your up to your armpits in toilet roll!!! So you have the 20 min dash to get in,shop and get out as quick as possible. I went down the isle for toilet cleaner and they didnt have my usual brand so i thought i would try asda's own limescale remover for the toilet. They had quite a few different scents so i picked up the forest fern one and off i trundled to the checkout with the little one screaming and the other 2 (who are 9 + 10) fighting all the way Got it home and you are supposed to put it in the toilet and leave it for a bit and then go back and clean it and for really bad stuck on lime scale leave it overnight (thats ok if you have 2... FIZZY BOTTOM ACTION THAT DOESN'T SMELL BAD
Review of Parozone Limescale Fizz Tabs by LostWitness

Advantages: Easy to use, convenient
Disadvantages: Caution required around children

...Where I live, the water is approximately 96% limescale. OK – that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but I think you know what I’m trying to say. One of the places that this problem manifests itself most is in my toilets. Although I use limescale removing toilet blocks in the cisterns, such is the limescale content of the water round here that the surface of the bowl underneath the water level gets heavily coated with a thick layer of the stuff. Having stared down into this once too often, I resolved to do something about it, and scoured the supermarket aisles for something that could solve the problem. The Product Parozone Fizz Tabs are essentially small tablets of acidic salts that react with the alkaline limescale deposit. The resulting reaction breaks down the limescale, without damaging whatever the limescale... Read review
