TomTom Western Europe, let Jane take the strain.

Advantages: Stress free travelling, comprehensive, clear instructions, cheap
Disadvantages: Some very minor glitches in confusing bends with turns

...or navigating town centres (Limoges, Sarlat etc.) can be daunting to say the least, not with Jane (oops, TomTom Western Europe). It is very hard to think of any negatives, the only one, and not such a biggie, is that sometimes she (Jane) tells you to turn right or left when really it is only a bend, or bear left or right when it is a turn. On the way home we decided to avoid Paris and go by night, no problem, night time settings dim the map, and rural roads are no problem. For our next trip we intend to go into Spain from France and we have no doubt that TomTom will deal adequately. If anyone is getting a TomTom, buy the Western Europe map, it will save you its cost on one trip, in petrol, maps and above all, stress, how on earth did we manage without?...

It was due to arrive in Paris at 7am next day, but arrived an hour early. When we got there the fax had not arrived and they could not find any message from London and no-one knew anything about us or our situation. The man in London had even written on our original ticket about the change and stamped it...

2 Years with a Partner Combi.

Advantages: Space, reliability, performance (for a van, that is)

...many executive sallons that I've driven. Last year I drove 450 miles to Limoges with just one stop for fuel and didn't even suffer a numb bum. Economy wise, the 2.0HDi engine really is superb. Driving reasonably quickly but on mostly short journeys, the car returns around 45 mpg. Considering the Partner has the aerodynamic properties of a house brick, I reckon that's pretty good. It uses around a litre of oil every 6000 miles, but I can live with that. Servicing is reasonable at between £100 and £200 depending on the schedule required. I've done 42,000 miles in just under 2 years without any other expense except a pair of front tyres at 36,000 miles. Brakes still have plenty of life in them.
