Linguini's: A Pasta Disaster!
Advantages: Some of the meals were of a high standard, clean and some friendly staff
Disadvantages: Some of the meals not so good and some less friendly staff members
...It was fast approaching my brother?s birthday and we always like to go out for a special meal to celebrate. Where we live in Lincolnshire, I?m sad to say that there are very few ?special? restaurants in the area; such establishments have either gotten dodgy or have closed down all together, but Boston wasn?t always like that.
A long, long time ago, the town was host to what I?d describe as a phenomenal Italian restaurant called Zucchini?s, an eatery that closed down somewhere in the region of three to four years ago. It was an inevitable downfall; the new owners were inconsistent with opening times and stopped doing the ?early bird? menu which many people loved but I was still very sad to see Zucchini?s shut down altogether after having so many fantastic meals there in the past, both with family and friends. Alas there was hope...

Harvester Restaurants
Advantages: Always one close by, quick turn out, children are welcome and catered for.
Disadvantages: Toilets can be quite disturbing, not all dishes taste as good they are described.
...Harvester Restaurants
Restaurant Reviewed: Stag and Hounds
Winchester Road
Basingstoke
Hampshire
(next to Comet and Home Base)
The Harvester chain of Restaurants have over 2000 outlets across the United Kingdom and owned and operated by Mitchells and Butlers, who claim to be the UK's leading operator of managed pubs, bars and restaurants. Harvester claim to offer healthy eating, drinking and entertainment in one reasonably priced outlet.
**** Parking and Getting a Table *****
As with most of the Harvester's I have visited, there is usually ample free parking at the rear of the establishment. However on Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch times these places are heaving with customers, so avoid the crowds, go early and if possible ring and reserve a table. The Stag and Hounds is no exception but fortunately...

Belton House and Gardens Lincolnshire
Advantages: Access and enjoyment for all
Disadvantages: Food a little limited and pricey
...allowed within the House, so please ensure that you contact a member of house staff who will lend you a baby sling. There is adequate storage areas for the pushchairs/prams to be stored during you tour of the house, so that you can use them later to explore the rest of the park.
Wheelchairs are accepted and a separate entrance is allocated for you to gain access.
Apart from the House, there are a number of other places to visit while at the house; the grounds are vast measuring approximately 35 acres, in which you will find beautiful gardens, the orangey, Children's adventure playground, miniature railway, the wildlife discovery centre, the shop and restaurant.
The Gardens
The gardens of Belton date back to the 17th Century although very little remains from the design of that time due to heavy flooding with the 18th...

The Seafood Restaurant
Advantages: Great fish, sides
Disadvantages: None
...Rick Stein - The Seafood Restaurant
On a recent trip to Padstow, Cornwall we decided to go to Rick Steins famous fish restaurant, The Seafood Restaurant. Rick Stein is an English chef, restauranter and television presenter. He now specialises in fish cookery. He opened his first restaurant in Padstow in 1974 and now runs quite a few businesses in the town including a cake shop, cookery school and a fish and chip shop.
The Seafood Restaurant is his upper class restaurant in the town and is known for it's fabulous fish. It really is in the best location for fish. Padstow is a historic fishing port and so receives fresh fish every day. The restaurant is right at one end of town by the harbour and so is perfectly place to recieve all the best catches of the day.
It's quite hard to get a reservation in the restaurant. I think I booked...

The Fynest Chain Restaurant
Advantages: Wonderful fish and seafood
Disadvantages: Very limited choice for vegetarians
...round our chairs. We had two small pine tables, a little the worse for wear, pushed together. There was already a basket of bread slices and a not overgenerous serving of butter on the table. The paper place mats show photos of and give information about Loch Fyne's fishermen - it's good to see they get some recognition.
I immediately liked the feel of the place itself. Situated in the imposing Vulcan Building on the Canalside, the restaurant has a high ceiling with wooden beams painted white from which spotlights together with small lamps in wall brackets create a soft lighting. The whole of the back wall is in red brick. The theme of fish and the sea runs through a series of paintings on the walls. There is a bar behind which the collection of wines is displayed, and there is also a counter where you can see elaborate seafood dishes being...

My favourite Turkish restaurant on Green Lanes
Advantages: Great food, quick, friendly service, inexpensive
Disadvantages: Can be crowded and noisy on weekend nights
... INTRODUCTION
Diyarbakir is a Turkish Restaurant on Green Lanes (A10), in the borough of Haringey, North London, a 7-8 minute walk from Manor House Tube station and practically seconds away from Harringay Green Lanes rail entrance. Undoubtedly, the densest Turkish restaurant population in London, if not, the whole planet, including Istanbul itself. I moved to this area in 2005 and my decision was mainly down to the great value restauration and the Mediterranean (Turkish - Cypriot - Greek - Middles Eastern) groceries having grown up on the stuff.
THE RESTAURANT
You can spot the trays of lovely, colourful daily stews from the street as they are displayed in the window. As you enter, the long chilled counter is on your left with a huge menu board overhead. The decor is simple, now repainted a warm yellow and red. Unlike...

Claimed to be the oldest restaurant in Dalyan
Advantages: Gorgeous surroundings, loads of special dishes, the clay pot, waiters look the part
Disadvantages: Expensive wine and water, relatively small portion sizes, loads of manky cats
...Sini and instantly clocked my other half (she has got the best long, curly and fiery auburn hair ever, and it is something that Turkish blokes seem to really like as the male attention she got wherever we went was a bit too much for me (and I seldom become the green eyed monster), although I was offered 3 camels for her) and the banter started. It was time to sample Sini, so we booked a table (which the tout promised would be the best in the house) for eight that evening.
Why is this restaurant called Sini?
According to the tout, and the website;
?In a traditional Turkish family the people eat together on the floor. They sit at a sort of tablecloth and a large round serving tray with about three or four different kinds of dish. In Turkish this tray is called a "Sini". Around the restaurant you will see traditional...

Bangers 'n Beans Lincolnshire style
Advantages: Tasty, good value
Disadvantages: About 25% fat, but that's sausages for you!
...Mmmm?sausages?. bangers and mash, hot dogs, toad in the hole, sausage rolls, etc etc. Comfort food, nursery food, call it what you like, sausages are a favourite in many households and are considered to be an essential part of an English breakfast. They are versatile, cheap, quick to cook and tasty. There are lots of different flavours of sausages to choose from these days and one of the ones we like most is Walls Favourite Recipe Lincolnshire Sausages. (NB. Not Chefs Selection, but despite my emails, Ciao tell me to put my review here, for some reason!)
~~~~History of the sausage~~~
The word sausage is derived from Old French 'saussiche', from the Latin word 'salsus', meaning salted. A sausage is a type of food usually consisting of ground meat (usually pork or beef in the UK), animal fat, salt, and spices. Sometimes other...
Taste the Tates?
Advantages: Wonderful fish and chips
Disadvantages: Too good to leave
...Have you tasted any good fish and chips of late? No? Then you haven't been to TATES at Boston, Lincolnshire.
I am a Boston girl, and Tates fish and chips have been part of my growing up. The fish shop has been there on the site since 10th October 1904, but was only taken over or into the Tate's ownership in 1959 and has stayed a family run bussiness since.
Tates are open 6 days a week, closed Sunday. Times as follows,
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10-30am till 2-30pm only.
Wednesday and Saturday 10-30am till 7-00pm, (Market days in Boston)
Friday 11-00am till 9-00pm.
You will find Tates in the centre of Boston on New Street just off the main market place.
The building itself is triangular, and they serve take away as well as eating in. Whilst you are sitting and eating you will see that the take out fryers are never...
Akbars restaurant, York
Advantages: Fabulous night out, excellent food
Disadvantages: only a teeny tiny one - read and find out!!
...On the first night of our recent visit to York we ventured out to find somewhere to eat as the hotel was a tad expensive for us commoners!
When we entered the city walls we asked the first people we met where the best area/restaurant was to eat. Both of them immediately answered Akbars, an Asian restaurant, which luckily was just around the corner on George Hudson Street. They also gave us options for Chinese and Mexican food but both of them were adamant that Akbars was the best.
We walked round to the restaurant and had a look at the menu outside the front door. As I'm a vegetarian I need to ensure that any restaurant I visit is going to have a good selection of meals for me to choose from and not just one or two veggie options. There was a very large amount of meals for me to choose from and we happily went inside...
