...I have always enjoyed watching stand up and happily spend many evenings with the other half, falling asleep giggling to something silly. My favourite comedians include, Bill Bailey, Eddie Izzard, Jim Davidson, Lee Evans and Tim Minchin. While browsing through HMV a few weeks ago, making a few usual impulse buys in the hope of finding something good, I spotted Russell Howard's "Live" DVD. The name rang a bell and I briefly remembered seeing a 2 minute clip of Russell on youtube and finding it funny. So the DVD was brought for 9.99. If you have never seen Russell Howard before or seen any of his material, I can only describe him as being hysterically funny with a boyish charm. The Bone Vault - Linda Fairstein

Advantages: An interesting read
Disadvantages: A little bit gory in places

...The Bone Vault written by Linda Fairstein is the latest book that I have just read. I have not read any of this Author's previous works although I was aware that the predecessor to this novel, the Deadhouse, was an International best seller. This book fits neatly into the category of crime fiction but the authenticity of how Met Assistant DA Alexandra Cooper handles the crimes in this gripping story is what sets this book apart from many books on a similar theme that I have read. This may have something to do with the fact that the Author of this work, Linda Fairstein is America's foremost prosecutor of crimes, specialising in the area of sexual assault and domestic violence. Lovely Linda feeds us well

Disadvantages: Not good for the diet conscious

I decided to take the plunge and become a vegetarian in 1985, just before my son was born, and having decided to do so, then panicked about what I would actually eat! I had tried to be a veggie earlier but due to the difficulty with mixing nuts and grains and keeping my proteins and iron up, I found it was too awful and gave up. dont buy too many linda mcartney sausages

Advantages: tasty
Disadvantages: get boring after a while

...I seem to have this awful habit of trying something, loving it, stocking up on it and then going off it in a big way. I think its because I have been a veggie for so many years and it really used to be hard to vary my diet as there were not enough products on the market. So whenever something nice comes out that I like I stock up b4 they take it off the market. As happened with Linda Mcartney Italian Style Toppers which were delicious, remember them? well anyway they stopped making them, or if they didnt they are impossible to find and I was heartbroken. Anyway getting to the point, these sausages really are presented nicely in a lovely red box.It says 'a delicious blend of cereal and pea protein with sundried tomato pieces and herbs'. Mr.Nice by Howard Marks

Advantages: An Excellent, Intelligent, Thought-provoking, Honest read.
Disadvantages: Sags a bit in the middle but picks up again as soon as he is in prison!

...I found this book to be excellent! It was a really enjoyable read. Howard Marks puts across his entire life in a completely honest and genuine way. He is clearly a likable man and no matter what he has done you really can't help but be on his side! The fact that the basis of this book is his life involved with Cannabis did not really occur to be as a bad point within this book as it is told with such charm, wit, honesty and integrity that he could have been writing a book on anything and I'm sure I would still find him a brilliant writer and man. This is not an easy-to-read stoners book, it is a detailed journey of Mark's life and (as I quickly established) he is not a man with no brains who smokes weed, he is incredibly insightful, clever, funny and intellectual. A biopic of Howard Hughes

...Introduction I watched a documentary about this film and the life of Howard Hughes just before Christmas and thought it looked like an interesting film, although Leonardo di Caprio seemed like an odd choice for the main character. The length of the film also put me off. Then one evening with absolutely nothing to watch on TV, I got it out. It would be hard to make a bad film about a man with a life like Howard Hughes', but even so, I was more impressed that I had expected to be. The story Howard Hughes was the son of a rich industrialist, who decided that he wanted to make a war film with his own aeroplanes as the stars of the show. Veggies dont have to miss out, thanks to Linda!

Advantages: Yum and veggie friendly too.
Disadvantages: Really more-ish, it could be bigger.

...When i became vegetarian, I thought I would be stuck with a really boring diet and no variety. But thanks to Linda McCartney, I was proven wrong. Not only is there Lasagne, but also other typical "carnivor" meals such as Shepherds Pie, Chilli, sausage rolls, curry, pasta carbonara....the list goes on. But i must say that the lasagne is a favourite. Not only of mine, but also of my sister - who isn't even a vegetarian! It is best cooked in the oven, and I love the crisp cheese top layer that forms if you leave it in just a little longer than the recommended time. Unlinke other pasta meals, the pasta does not go crunchy or chewy in the oven and it retains its form too. The layers of pasta are concealing a lovely mixture of vegetarian mince, rich tomato sauce and a good selection of vegetables. It has a really authentic Italian taste...
