...Dunkin' Duncan is a little book in the ever popular Thomas the Tank Engine series. The book has been based on the TV series. The cover of the book has a yellow banner at the top with the title in red letters and below is a picture of Duncan. The back of the book has a yellow border with a blue inside which has a selection of smaller pictures showing other titles available in this collection. THE STORY The book begins by telling us how Duncan is working on the Incline railway with Rusty, Rheneas and Skarloey, they liked how the loaded trucks rolled down the incline and pulled the empty truck up. Duncan didn't enjoy working here as he liked to do things in a hurry which made him careless and got him into lots of trouble. ...Anyone Can Do It serves as a good interesting insight into Duncan Bannatyne's rags to riches story and gives a fair degree of inspiration to anyone struggling to find their own pot of gold. Just like Duncan Bannatyne himself its a straight talking narrative that does exactly what it says on the front cover. The book gives an account of how Bannatyne fought tooth and nail to overcome unemployment and a navy court martial to turn one ice cream van into a multi million pound organisation including a chain of health clubs, nursing homes and an impressive list of other companies to boot. Bannatyne's account gives a great insight into his early life in Scotland and the variety of trial and error style escapades in his businesses. There is less of an insight into the personality and dragon of today. Without any disrepect to Mr Bannatyne...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Intro Having decided that I needed some more books to read I consulted the charity book list at work (books for the bargain price of 25p) and came across "Darkly Dreaming Dexter". I was aware that there is a TV series called "Dexter", so consulted Amazon to see if this was the same thing, and found that it was! Dysfunctional Dexter

...Although the age-old adage is don't judge a book by its cover, I am not a huge believer in this. I feel that in the modern world where there is such a vast amount of literature out there, the cover of a book has to be important in your choice of whether to select that book from the pile to then read the blurb (unless the book has been recommended in which case the cover is most likely unimportant. Hope has a very simple spine, in a blue-y purple with the title Hope written in black, squared letters, the author's name (Glen Duncan) in white in the same fount though smaller. There is also a grey scale picture running through the letters which at first glance doesn't look like much, but on closer inspection turns out to be two naked figures, one male, one female, as a profile shot, showing the two chests and torsos pressed against each...
