It is for use with BT Internet connections rather than for use with a Cable broadband connection (i.e. Virgin) although a Cable version is also available. It?s an ADSL2 router, which means it supports the newer ADSL standard, which could mean faster transfer speeds although this really depends on your line quality, distance from Exchange, service with ISP, etc. The router currently costs £74.99 from PC World but a bit less at £59.99 on their website. ...This is a Lynksys Wireless-G range extender. It is for a network, whether home or office, that needs more reach on it that save the hassel of buying more routers. This Range extender from Linksys is a very useful piece of kit. Was very easy to set up (once I typed the correct MAC address into my gateway) and provides the range I need to go over about 30 metres and through several big thick brick walls. I was having trouble with just my router so i turned to the internet and this is what i found. I combined it with a new antenna on my PC and my signal is now 5 bars! Much better than a half of one! The Wireless-G Range Expander is compatible with the Linksys WAP54G Access Point, and both the WRT54G and WRT54GS Wireless Routers. After purchasing a laptop it became apparent that I wouldnt want to run a cable from my broadband box to my laptop in order to use the internet especially when this is already plugged into my PC.
