Internet phone calls with no attachment (to a PC)
Review of Linksys CIT200, Cordless Internet Telephony Kit by K1ttyCat

Advantages: Cheap/free internet calls using a normal phone - no headsets
Disadvantages: Ringer quiet

...and found a place just by doing a search on CIT200. I should say it doesn't appear cheap because we've saved the cost in only a few months. We call relatives in the USA every day and previously the best special rate we found was 3p/min. The cost of calls has halved with Skype and even though it's pence per minute saved, it quickly builds up. So what did we spend? Skype software Free Linksys £70 SkypeIn number £20 (€30) per year - not essential but see below Call Credits £7 (€10) for about 10 hours What did we get? The Linksys, some call credits and an inbound number. Or to put it another way, we got a second phone line with a normal (to use) phone and very cheap or free calls. Plus our relative in the States can call us here for the cost of a local call (about 3 US cents per call, not per minute!) because our inbound number is "located" close... Read review

Linksys extender
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander WRE54G by coopsta133

Advantages: Easy to use, good extension
Disadvantages: Website hard to find help on

...This is a Lynksys Wireless-G range extender. It is for a network, whether home or office, that needs more reach on it that save the hassel of buying more routers. This Range extender from Linksys is a very useful piece of kit. Was very easy to set up (once I typed the correct MAC address into my gateway) and provides the range I need to go over about 30 metres and through several big thick brick walls. I was having trouble with just my router so i turned to the internet and this is what i found. I combined it with a new antenna on my PC and my signal is now 5 bars! Much better than a half of one! The Wireless-G Range Expander is compatible with the Linksys WAP54G Access Point, and both the WRT54G and WRT54GS Wireless Routers. It works with both Wireless-G and Wireless-B clients so you'll get the benefits of increased coverage, even... Read review

A Good Choice for a Home Network Gateway
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway WAG354G - wireless router by crannoghome

Advantages: easy setup, good range, excellent value for money
Disadvantages: none so far

...The BT USB modem which came with our broadband package worked fine, but needed changing when we wanted to network the family's computers together. After much reading of reviews and visiting many forums on the subject we chose the Linksys WAG354G ADSL Home Gateway and, at £49.95 from Amazon, it looked very good value, especially as P&P was included. Linksys is part of Cisco Systems, a recognised expert in the field of computer networking. The Linksys Home Gateway combines 4 functions in one small box: an ADSL2+ modem, a hardware firewall and a 4 port switch and wireless access point. Not only can all the family's computers be on line at the same time anywhere in the house, but everyone can access both the printer and scanner attached to our main computer. You can connect up to 4 computers through its 10/100 ethernet switch and up... Read review

Is your PC Wireless yet?
Review of Linksys Wireless-G PCI Card WMP54G by mw2870

Advantages: Easy of Installation, Backwards Compatible, Price
Disadvantages: Only compatible in PC's

...The Linksys Wireless-G PCI card is perfect for adding Wireless functionality to your home Computer and is a definite buy if you are building your own home wireless network. Before buying its worth checking that you have a spare PCI slot in your PC, installation is nothing more daunting than removing the cover of your computer (powered off of course!!) and slotting the card into one of the free PCU slots. If you are running Windows XP the operating system will detect the new card automatically and prompt you for the driver CD, other operating systems will require that you insert the CD first. The card comes with a quick start guide which contains more than adequate instructions for installation; however for the more advanced user there is a full instruction manual in electronic form on the enclosed CD-ROM. It is backwards compatible... Read review

LINKSYS WAG54GS WITH SPEEDBOOSTER
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway with SpeedBooster WAG54GS - wireless router by JamesKendall456

Advantages: Very quick and can handle a lot.
Disadvantages: NONE.

...This is a very good wireless router. I have set up two networks now using this. The software is very easy to use and requires minimal effort. The cd guides you through step by step checking your connection and asking you only relevant details that you can acquire from your internet service provider. It can handle a lot of data transfer and can accept numerous computer connections at once. It accepts many types of security and is very reliable. It never cuts out and it broadcasts a signal a long way into my garden and field. Highly recommended, easy to use, doesn't get too hot, isn't unsightly. Very good router. Never overloads!!!!! Buy it definately. You will never go back to cables again...trust me! Linksys are also very helpful with a one 2 one chat facility online to get help with your queries!!!!!!! Along with this I have... Read review

Linksys WPC54G Notebook Adapter Review
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G by sunny_boy

Advantages: Easy to install, use and configure.
Disadvantages: Gets hot after a while of constant use.

...When I recieved my laptop and bought my Linksys WRT54G Wireless Broadband Router, I needed to add wireless functionality to my laptop - that unfortunately wasn't powered by the Intel Centrino technology that has now been introduced. Seeing as I bought a Linksys router, I went ahead and bought a Linksys wireless adapter as well. The Packaging - The product is neatly packaged and very well protected in an anti-static pouch and is snuggled in it's plastic tray. All the documentation is packaged neatly and diagramatical setup instructions are printed on the back of the box. I found this quite handy when I wasn't bothered to read the instruction booklet. The Installation - The installation is quick and simple and the software installation CD provided was very easy to understand and install. It used diagrams as well as text to decribe how... 4 port router - low priced but reliable
Review of Linksys Instant Broadband EtherFast Cable/DSL Firewall Router with 4-Port Switch/VPN Endpoint - router by exup35

Advantages: Reliable, good support
Disadvantages: bigger than other similar routers from competitors

...This unit replaced an awful Belkin router which was a simlar specification and price. This router was so much better, i.e. it worked, The installation was straightforward enough, and the router was up and running with 2 pc's connected without a problem. Compared to the Belkin unit it is a no frills product, the colour is OK, but whereas the Belkin looked sleek, thie linksys s more function over form. I wasn;t really bothered though, it was going to be sat next to the modem out of sight. The ethernet sockets are round the back of the unit, and the system LED's are on the front. Also the unit is stable enough not to be lifted when multiple wires are plugged into it. This can be a problem with very small units which are so light the cables own tension can lift them off the floor/desk where you placed them. Probably the most you can throw... Read review

If your looking for a VPN router look else where.
Review of Linksys Wireless-G VPN Broadband Router WRV54G - wireless router by chris547

Advantages: Router and wireless in one package
Disadvantages: VPN doesn't work as advertised!

...unable to connect. If you are just using the router to connect between two fixed sites you shouldn't have any problems. I have managed to produce a VPN connection via a dial up connection but via a mobile phone this can be as slow as 9600 and thus unusable. Linksys has come out with a answer to the VPN NAT problem, which is their Quickvpn program. If you have a Windows 2000 or XP machine this will work very well, of course if you don't have Windows XP/2000 your up the creak with no paddle! Linksys never mentioned this on the packaging, and the website never stated it, although it does mention a PC with 200Mhz or faster Processor, it doesn't mention a requirement for XP/2000 only. Linksys also provide GPL code for this router which I have looked at in the hope of solving my VPN problem. Included in this is a L2TP server for the WRV54G... Read review

Going Wired & Wireless? Go Linksys WRT54G.
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by sunny_boy

Advantages: Small, portable, easy-to-use, easy-to-setup and adaptable.
Disadvantages: Blue makes it uneasy on the eye and gets hot.

...I am a student who recieved a laptop for Christmas and wanted a way to surf the internet and play games etc. through my cable internet connection from the main computer in my house. I bought this little beauty and a wireless PCI card for my laptop; both Linksys. The Price: The price has come done considerably since I bought it just before the summer last year (2005) and it's even better now for what you get. The Specs: The router sports 2 antenna for your wireless needs and the wireless signal reaches far beyond my garden fence (10m away from house). I played Wolfenstein in my garden happily without any lag or connection loss - this was through one wall and a tent. The router has, as well as the wireless option, room for up to 4 cable-based computers or accessories to share the connection. This is handy for other hardware... Read review

Mmmm one to think about
Review of Linksys Instant Wireless WMP11 by leeharding

Advantages: Price / Easy Installation
Disadvantages: WEP problems 128mb

...I was about to give up on trying a wireless network when I came across the PCI card. I had already tried some wireless UB adapters and found I could only stay connected for 30 minutes tops! The first time I installed the card into my computer I was online for 6 hours. I've only had the card for about a week now, but I've never experienced it disconnecting me from the conncetion, which is what I was looking for all along. The installation is very easy, you just install the software that is given to you by Linksys on a CD ROM, turn the PC off insert the PCI wireless network card, turn on the PC and the hardware automatically gets installed, it was a doddle. The price range is from £39.99-£59.99 from all good computer stores. The Card comes with a 12 month warrenty. I recommend this piece of wireless hardware except for the security... Read review
