Linksys's Lightning fast wireless router

Advantages: Fast speeds, Reliable, Stylish
Disadvantages: I had wireless problems, Gets a bit warm, no restart router option in config

...The Linksys WAG160N N300 is an ADSL2+ wireless modem router, meaning it has a a modem built in. It is for use with BT Internet connections rather than for use with a Cable broadband connection (i.e. Virgin) although a Cable version is also available. It?s an ADSL2 router, which means it supports the newer ADSL standard, which could mean faster transfer speeds although this really depends on your line quality, distance from Exchange, service with ISP, etc. The router currently costs £74.99 from PC World but a bit less at £59.99 on their website. I bought mine about 8 months ago on Ebuyer for around £55. IN THE BOX You receive two ADSL filter s, RJ11 cable, user manual, manual and software CD, power adapter and lastly, the router itself. THE ROUTER ITSELF One thing I quite like about the router is that it looks quite...

Linksys Router

Advantages: Can hook up a few computers to it,can have a password
Disadvantages: slow transfer of big files between computers

...The last review was very good but I thought I would give one more about the product itself. After purchasing a laptop it became apparent that I wouldnt want to run a cable from my broadband box to my laptop in order to use the internet especially when this is already plugged into my PC. The next logical step? By a wireless router and i'm assuming that if your are reading this then you will either be in this position or just cant be bothered with having cables all around your house anymore. As the title says this is a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Access Point Router with 4-Port Switch. Fore this router to work you need to make sure that your broadband has an ETHERNET port otherwise you will need to find another router as you plug your broadband into this router via an ethernet cable in order for it to be able to send out the signal...

Great Multimedia Wireless Router from Belkin

Advantages: Reliable, Fast, Easy to configure, Lots of features, USB for sharing drives
Disadvantages: Bit expensive, Not full speed with every machine

...through the settings but I just log into the router in a web browser to add my settings. The user interface is very straight forward with everything under the appropriate headings. I can find the options that I want at a glance. Internet connection settings, port forwarding and wireless settings are easily found and set. If you get stuck, the manual on the CD or the Belkin website should answer any questions. PERFORMANCE, CONNECTION AND STABILITY On my PC, I manage to get the full 130Mbit speed that my Linksys wireless dongle allows. However, on my Wireless N laptop, it only gets a speed of 54Mbits, no matter how close I am. Previous cheaper Belkin and Linksys Wireless N routers gave me faster speeds (240Mbit or something). This only affects internal network speed and doesn't affect Internet speed though and I generally get good download...

Review of Belkin N+ Wireless Modem Router - wireless router

Very smart router ....

Advantages: Easy to install and configure
Disadvantages: Very few 'instructions' on security

...When it came to installing a router I didn't have a clue what I was doing! It was a pure impulse purchase, and I was worried when I got home that I might have trouble setting it up. The cd that came with the router made it extremely easy to figure out, though it would have been nice to have a small manual too (these can be downloaded from Linksys site). When I bought my WRT54GS router for £49.99, I was fortunate to get a free Linksys usb network adapter (worth £39.99). My pc came with a network card and aerial already installed, so I was intending to save the usb adapter for my old pc and have that wireless too. Using the cd that came with the router, I had it set up within half an hour. The only problem was that my signal kept coming and going - even though the router was only two feet away from the aerial. Out of curiousity I took...

Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster WRT54GS - wireless router

Belting Belkin Router!

Advantages: Fairly easy to set up, easy to use, reliable, looks good.
Disadvantages: Bandwidth Innacurate.

...; from the photos I'd seen of it, I'd always assumed it to be small (I should have really looked and found out the dimensions but I was so desperate to get it ordered as there was only one left in stock that I never bothered) but it's no problem really, just a surprise and I thought I should mention it to you as you may also be considering it and thinking it's a really small router. This router comes in both cable and ADSL versions so anybody on any of the normal ISPs should be fine to use one of them, dependant on what internet they are being provided, ours is a cable one. The router is a wireless N1 which means that the data transfer rate is up to 300mps over the network instead of up to 54mps which is what you get with standard Wireless G technology. It also has a wide coverage area which means that if you want to go and use your laptop...

Review of Belkin N1 Vision Wireless Modem Router - wireless router

Crappest wireless router, looks blue for a reason

Advantages: When it works it works
Disadvantages: Unreliable, slow, low range, ugly as a killer whale's backside

...!' And so the rest is history... Well not really. Because I am one of those twats that purchased a Linksys Wireless-G router. When I first got it out of it's shiny new box, I thought, "Yes! The high speed wireless solution shall dawn upon my home and I will become... free!" It was easy to setup, just take it out of the box, out of it's protective cover, plug it into the mains with network cable connecting the broadband modem to it... and presto! Wireless-G router all setup! "It looks ugly, but if it performs well then I shall forgive it for it's short comings", I said to myself. The router itself has 2 attenna coming out it's back with 4 x RJ45 cable netowrk connectors for computers that still use the cable alternative. 1 x RJ45 socket was for the modem to connect to it, very standard setup for a router but it works. It is compatible...

Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router

Great Wireless Router...Eventually

Advantages: Fast, looks great, cheap
Disadvantages: Not easy to install!

...Having grown bored of using dial up internet I moved on to using an ADSL Modem but still found it aggravating having to plug my Laptop into the ADSL modem so decided to do a bit of research and invested in the Linksys WAG200G Wireless ADSL Modem Route. The Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway provides extremely fast connection to the Internet, far faster than a dial-up, and without tying up your phone line. The built-in Wireless-G (802.11g) Access Point allows up to 32 wireless devices to connect to the network at 54Mbps, without having cables all over your house. It's also compatible with Wireless-B (802.11b) devices, at 11Mbps. To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway features an advanced firewall to keep Internet intruders and attackers out. Wireless transmissions can be protected by powerful WPA...

Router minefield!!!

Advantages: ease of setup,reliable connection
Disadvantages: not the fastest on the market

...When looking to go wireless in the computer world it is an absolute minefield when it comes to wireless routers/modems. I sat at my latop(tethered to the telephone socket with wires) scouring google for write ups about this router and that router when i came across this one. Now this is rated as being the best selling router/modem in the UK and has been for some time. I think i paid around £40 from ebuyer.com. I chose it because of the fact its reasonably priced. Its a good trustworthy brand and it seemed to come up to scratch on speed. Upon opening the box the installation was very simple indeed. I just followed the instructions that came with the router and hey prsto i was wireless on my laptop.Software is easy to install and self explanatory. Its not the fastest band of router on the market but for what i needed it was ample...

Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router

stable, reliable router

Advantages: bullet proof, future proof, idiot proof
Disadvantages: too new to be great value for money

...We bought one of these through work to handle our company 2mb ADSL connection. As with all linksys units this is well made and behaves nicely. the 4 port switch is as fast as it's supposed to be. The setup is as hard as you want to make it. there are lots and lots of screens that can be used to tune your internet experience down to fine details, it contains URL blocking, IP, MAC and bad word filtering and you can set it to only allow specific computers to access the net - as if the unit wants to be a proxy server when it grows up. We selected this router specifically because we were looking long term at getting an SDsl connection when it became available and this router is one of very few which will handle that technology (sdsl has the same incoming and out going available bandwidth, rather than adsl which has more incoming...

Review of Linksys ADSL2 Gateway with 4-Port Switch AG241 - router

Low Cost Enterprise Security Firewall Router

Advantages: Powerful, Easy to configure, Good support, Low cost
Disadvantages: Needs extra 'modem' for each broadband Connection, Occasional reboots required

...), for the secondary Internet connection, to WAN2 port. For the 2950 to need the Vigor 100 or non-NAT router to connect to the Internet is a bit of a disadvantage for me as it?s an extra cost involved. The Vigor 100/110 costs around £50. KEY FEATURES (That I use) It is a requirement at my work place for the offices dotted around London to be networked to each other so that each office can connect to the company Intranet (A website system within a company), hence the choice of Draytek routers, as they all have a built-in VPN function. VPN enables users to connect to a network from anywhere that has an Internet connection (and a computer obviously). A user ?dials in? to a VPN account with a username and password that?s set up by the administrator beforehand and the process is similar to how you would dial out using your phone line to your ISP if...
