It is for use with BT Internet connections rather than for use with a Cable broadband connection (i.e. Virgin) although a Cable version is also available. It?s an ADSL2 router, which means it supports the newer ADSL standard, which could mean faster transfer speeds although this really depends on your line quality, distance from Exchange, service with ISP, etc. The router currently costs £74.99 from PC World but a bit less at £59.99 on their website. ...not want to turn this review into a Hi-Fi manual! The network name can be hidden and you can restrict router access to computers listed in the wireless client list. The ability to specify either an open system or shared key for authentication. These are the options I have tweaked and I believe this should prevent basic hacking of my wireless broadband router. The initial setup was easy once the brain was engaged. Do not do anything other than insert the CD, all the setting up is covered from connecting the power to the ethernet cables. One tip though is to go online via your broadband modem prior to starting the setup. This will ensure that any snags that may arise are due to the subsequent installation. Buffalo WBMR-G54 wireless router - a real buffalo?

Advantages: Reasonable price, easy to use, lots of advanced settings

...I bought this router from a local Argos shop at an emergency situation i.e. I want it now and therefore not at the best price - 49.99. Reason: My all singing and all dancing Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG - wireless router had lost its main function, 'internet connectivity' after a month or so of continuous use (see my other review, now updated, for details). All is left is wireless communication i.e. useless. The return of this router back to Amazon caused me a week (lots of emails + recorded delivery + check that the refund includes the recorded delivery etc) For Argos, there is an obvious advantage - if there is something wrong with it, I just take it back for a refund/replacement on the same day.
