Linksys's Lightning fast wireless router

Advantages: Fast speeds, Reliable, Stylish

...The Linksys WAG160N N300 is an ADSL2+ wireless modem router, meaning it has a a modem built in. It is for use with BT Internet connections rather than for use with a Cable broadband connection (i.e. Virgin) although a Cable version is also available. It?s an ADSL2 router, which means it supports the newer ADSL standard, which could mean faster transfer speeds although this really depends on your line quality, distance from Exchange, service with ISP, etc. The router currently costs £74.99 from PC World but a bit less at £59.99 on their website. Linksys Wireless Router - Is it Reliable??

Advantages: Reliable, well priced and gives you freedom to move around the house!
Disadvantages: Settings dont always refresh after a power cut.

...I can honestly say that YES it is fairly reliable and has done me good over the last few years with little to no problems. Its easy to setup although a bit more technical wisdom may be needed to setup the security. I set mine up with a 28 bit WEP key. Always make sure you change your default password and username otherwise it could easily be hacked. My Internet provider has always been NTL / Virgin media and I was recomended by them that this router is highly compatible with their broadband services. Being an avid gamer and PC user it was a necessity for me to get wireless access especialy as my mum and sister use the Internet. It was a good solution for us that would allow us all to connect where ever we were around the house. I never seem to have any slowness issues when using the wireless even when other people are connected...

Advantages: Very Small, wall mountable, good setup wizard
Disadvantages: Some technical jargon in initial setup

...not want to turn this review into a Hi-Fi manual! The network name can be hidden and you can restrict router access to computers listed in the wireless client list. The ability to specify either an open system or shared key for authentication. These are the options I have tweaked and I believe this should prevent basic hacking of my wireless broadband router. The initial setup was easy once the brain was engaged. Do not do anything other than insert the CD, all the setting up is covered from connecting the power to the ethernet cables. One tip though is to go online via your broadband modem prior to starting the setup. This will ensure that any snags that may arise are due to the subsequent installation. Anyhow the only problem I had was in terminology, my previous router had said 'cable users click here'. This one offers...
