So much better than the old WAG54G
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway with SpeedBooster WAG54GS - wireless router by
georgio8
Advantages: Good Wifi coverage, easy configuration, good config interface
Disadvantages: Possible problem with configuring using Safari.
...I don't know why Linksys keep re-using their model names/numbers so confusingly. This is completely defferent from the 2-year old WAG54G router/modem that we bought it to replace. Given the very poor reliability and weak wifi signal that we had experienced with the old one, we had misgivings about buying Linksys again, but this had the right specification (including ADSL2+) and it was on special offer at PC world for 40 UKP (sadly no longer).
We have been quite amazed with the performance of the new model. Over two weeks it has not failed or needed re-starting. Both wireless and wired bandwidth seem very good. But the best thing is that the wireless signal coverage in our house has been transformed. I can finally use the internet from my laptop in any room of the house, whereas with the old WAG54G I had to sit in specific positions...

Still the all round best option?
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway WAG54G - wireless router by
FearThePie
Advantages: User friendly
Disadvantages: Some anoying 'niggles'
...toiling away with no success it had a mysterious fall into the bin.
The only mode that works is either with no security enabled at all (a VERY bad idea by the way), or to use WPA instead of WEP (this is using all Linksys wireless equipment, such as the USB 11g adapter, so it’s not a compatibility issue). While this is more secure, it’s much harder to maintain, and so needs more ‘tweaking’ now and again. On the plus side the MAC address filtering is superb, and even offers the option of selecting allowed MACs from networked PCs.
The other slight annoying thing about this router is that if it gets an Internet request from a wired in PC and a wireless PC, it deals with the wired one first and ‘forgets’ about the wireless one, so you have to reset it which takes a minute or so to get the wireless bit working again.
Apart from these slight...

A Good Choice for a Home Network Gateway
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway WAG354G - wireless router by
crannoghome
Advantages: easy setup, good range, excellent value for money
Disadvantages: none so far
...The BT USB modem which came with our broadband package worked fine, but needed changing when we wanted to network the family's computers together. After much reading of reviews and visiting many forums on the subject we chose the Linksys WAG354G ADSL Home Gateway and, at £49.95 from Amazon, it looked very good value, especially as P&P was included. Linksys is part of Cisco Systems, a recognised expert in the field of computer networking.
The Linksys Home Gateway combines 4 functions in one small box: an ADSL2+ modem, a hardware firewall and a 4 port switch and wireless access point. Not only can all the family's computers be on line at the same time anywhere in the house, but everyone can access both the printer and scanner attached to our main computer. You can connect up to 4 computers through its 10/100 ethernet switch and up...

Linksys it all up nicely..
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway WAG54G - wireless router by
Pookie_Rabbit
Advantages: Does everything asked of it
Disadvantages: Change the security settings as soon as you get it up and running.
...) and finally some users expressed an interest in having home WiFi access.
The product most likely based on features and price was the Linksys WAG54G.Therefore this review has turned out to be more of a comparison of the two than just on this one product and a lot of the information provided very similar to that in the previous review. I should also point out this review is fairly technical, given the chance of 2 reviews it would be nice to write another for the slightly less technically proficient but alas that is not an option. Now just in case you don't know Linksys are now owned by CISCO - sort of one of them names you know you can trust as most of the Internet is run off there kit.
Like the NetGear this device is made up of the following - an ADSL MODEM, 4-port Switch, Wireless Access Point and Firewall. Bear this in mind when making...

How to get rid of the wires
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway WAG54G - wireless router by
jimmymack007
Advantages: works well as a stand alone device
Disadvantages: setup instructions very basic
..., after another exhaustive search I decided on the Linksys WAG54G which combined a modem, a router, a 4 port network switch along with the wireless capabilities. I bought it off Amazon for £72 delivered and it turned up the very same day as our Broadband was switched on.
It is a smart blue and grey box with one antenna sticking out from the back, it has a power adapter, a length of cable to initially connect to a PC to set it up, a micro filter which is used to seperate the phone line from ADSL noise. It also comes with a disk which is not a driver disk (it comes pre-configured so does not need drivers installing onto the PC's), the disk contains a user manual, a copy of Adobe to read the manual with if you don't already have it installed and a 2 month free trial to Norton security.
Now, before you connect everything up, you need to use your...

Great Wireless Router...Eventually
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway WAG200G - wireless router by
Sweetboy84
Advantages: Fast, looks great, cheap
Disadvantages: Not easy to install!
...Having grown bored of using dial up internet I moved on to using an ADSL Modem but still found it aggravating having to plug my Laptop into the ADSL modem so decided to do a bit of research and invested in the Linksys WAG200G Wireless ADSL Modem Route.
The Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway provides extremely fast connection to the Internet, far faster than a dial-up, and without tying up your phone line.
The built-in Wireless-G (802.11g) Access Point allows up to 32 wireless devices to connect to the network at 54Mbps, without having cables all over your house. It's also compatible with Wireless-B (802.11b) devices, at 11Mbps.
To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway features an advanced firewall to keep Internet intruders and attackers out. Wireless transmissions can be protected by powerful WPA data...

LINKSYS WAG54GS WITH SPEEDBOOSTER
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway with SpeedBooster WAG54GS - wireless router by
JamesKendall456
Advantages: Very quick and can handle a lot.
Disadvantages: NONE.
...This is a very good wireless router. I have set up two networks now using this. The software is very easy to use and requires minimal effort. The cd guides you through step by step checking your connection and asking you only relevant details that you can acquire from your internet service provider. It can handle a lot of data transfer and can accept numerous computer connections at once. It accepts many types of security and is very reliable. It never cuts out and it broadcasts a signal a long way into my garden and field. Highly recommended, easy to use, doesn't get too hot, isn't unsightly. Very good router. Never overloads!!!!! Buy it definately. You will never go back to cables again...trust me! Linksys are also very helpful with a one 2 one chat facility online to get help with your queries!!!!!!!
Along with this I have...

Hot little box
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway WAG354G - wireless router by
melly2bad
Advantages: Attractive, lightweight, Wall mountable, ease of configuration
Disadvantages: Easily scuffed, Generates Heat easily
...The Linksys Wireless ADSL Gateway is a hot little number in more ways than one. The slinky silver casing is most pleasing to the eye; this model is geared to the more elegant and subtle tastes of the European market and is much better than the previous design which was quite bulky and never fitted in with the décor.
So if you're a techie that loves your gadgets and devices all over the house, this is one the wife wouldn't complain about.
The ADSL gateway is also wall mountable and looks great on the wall, especially if you intend to have a completely wireless network, I however am partially wireless and have three PC's connected to the Gateway/router via Ethernet cables, this is not a problem when the router is wall mounted however if you are going to perch it on your desktop Please Do Be Careful as although this new design is sleek...

Fantastic wireless router
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway with SpeedBooster WAG54GS - wireless router by
piloteer81
Advantages: Doddle to setup, fast and very good signal
Disadvantages: A Little jargonated!
...I felt compelled to review this product, especially as one other review was so negative. You only have to look at a more hardware dedicated review site such as www.ebuyer.co.uk to see this router is something special.
I have used numerous routers, mainly high end ones from the likes of Vigor for cable and ADSL, and a few more user friendly ones from Netgear and the like, and this Linksys is by far and away the easiest to setup - simple short bullet points with no expectation that you know the ins and outs of wireless networking. Follow these and you really can't go wrong.
It is very quick too, the internet was slightly faster and more responsive than with the previous router but the best thing was the wireless signal strength. We have very dense walls and the wireless adapter is at a diagonal angle through it. This meant...

What a clever little device!
Review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway WAG354G - wireless router by
fothergillis
Advantages: Full of features, future proof, works smoothly!
Disadvantages: None!
...If you're looking for a wireless router... then stop looking, you've found the one you want!
This router has some excellent feautres, it is setup up very easily and has great performance. I've set it up in old victorian house, and the signal strength is perfectly fine using just the internal antenna. Currently there are 4 wireless connections to it and 1 wired. All connections are working brilliantly.
The wireless connections are a mixture of both 'g' and 'b' protocols and haven't had any trouble with it. I've set it up to use WPA and connection speeds are still very fast as well as secure.
It's connection to the internet is also excellent. It connects via the built in ADSL modem which is also ADSL2 compliant for the future. I haven't had a single dropped connection to my ISP and I can't think of a bad thing to say about it...
