Reviews of linksys wireless-g broadband router wrt54g
Going Wired & Wireless? Go Linksys WRT54G.
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by
sunny_boy
Advantages: Small, portable, easy-to-use, easy-to-setup and adaptable.
Disadvantages: Blue makes it uneasy on the eye and gets hot.
...I am a student who recieved a laptop for Christmas and wanted a way to surf the internet and play games etc. through my cable internet connection from the main computer in my house. I bought this little beauty and a wireless PCI card for my laptop; both Linksys.
The Price: The price has come done considerably since I bought it just before the summer last year (2005) and it's even better now for what you get.
The Specs: The router sports 2 antenna for your wireless needs and the wireless signal reaches far beyond my garden fence (10m away from house). I played Wolfenstein in my garden happily without any lag or connection loss - this was through one wall and a tent. The router has, as well as the wireless option, room for up to 4 cable-based computers or accessories to share the connection. This is handy for other hardware...

Wireless-Great Broadband Router
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by
kirkwood132
Advantages: Price, signal strength
Disadvantages: small disadvantage in setup
...software, wires, and cabling. The cables and wires are of good quality and you can be assured that they will not break.
The router has a very good speed and it will rarely lose connection, I can tell you that for 3 weeks i have not lost one connection yet, The product is 100% worth your money, I can guarantee that.
If you are a complete novice then setup may be a bit tricky but it is still doable because of the setup cd. You may have to call your ISP (internet service provider) but that is only to find out a few numbers like your I.P. address (internet protocol). But they should be able to tell you quickly.
As you have probably seen from BT ads, you can buy wireless broadband packages, DO NOT buy these, they are just the same internet connection except they give you a "free" router. The router is not free as the additional payments...

Linksys extender
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander WRE54G by
coopsta133
Advantages: Easy to use, good extension
Disadvantages: Website hard to find help on
...This is a Lynksys Wireless-G range extender. It is for a network, whether home or office, that needs more reach on it that save the hassel of buying more routers.
This Range extender from Linksys is a very useful piece of kit. Was very easy to set up (once I typed the correct MAC address into my gateway) and provides the range I need to go over about 30 metres and through several big thick brick walls.
I was having trouble with just my router so i turned to the internet and this is what i found. I combined it with a new antenna on my PC and my signal is now 5 bars! Much better than a half of one!
The Wireless-G Range Expander is compatible with the Linksys WAP54G Access Point, and both the WRT54G and WRT54GS Wireless Routers. It works with both Wireless-G and Wireless-B clients so you'll get the benefits of increased coverage, even...

Linksys WPC54G Notebook Adapter Review
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G by
sunny_boy
Advantages: Easy to install, use and configure.
Disadvantages: Gets hot after a while of constant use.
...When I recieved my laptop and bought my Linksys WRT54G Wireless Broadband Router, I needed to add wireless functionality to my laptop - that unfortunately wasn't powered by the Intel Centrino technology that has now been introduced. Seeing as I bought a Linksys router, I went ahead and bought a Linksys wireless adapter as well.
The Packaging - The product is neatly packaged and very well protected in an anti-static pouch and is snuggled in it's plastic tray. All the documentation is packaged neatly and diagramatical setup instructions are printed on the back of the box. I found this quite handy when I wasn't bothered to read the instruction booklet.
The Installation - The installation is quick and simple and the software installation CD provided was very easy to understand and install. It used diagrams as well as text to decribe how...

Crappest wireless router, looks blue for a reason
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by
china_wolf
Advantages: When it works it works
Disadvantages: Unreliable, slow, low range, ugly as a killer whale's backside
...One day, the father of networks wanted his progeny to evolve their wireless routers and hubs further. He gathered his four apprentices and told them to do so with strict instructions.
The first was Belkin. Belkin learnt from his old ways and became faster and more reliable than ever before.
The second was Netgear. It decided to take the reliable route as reliability was a better cause, and speed should take secondary priority, although is is rather fast.
The third was Buffalo. Contrary to Netgear, Buffalo took the speed path and have reliable as a secondary priority, although it is very reliable.
The last was Linksys. Seeing that his classmates have all taken the routes that he might have undergone, Linksys goes 'I know! I wont change at all! I will just add the word Wireless-G 54Mbps on my chest and paint it green!'
And so the rest...

Wireless Broadband to the home
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by
mw2870
Advantages: Wire-free Network, Backward Compatible, Price
Disadvantages: Not quite Plug & Play!
...Wireless components have been gradually creeping down and down in price over the last few months, to a point where I feel they are now completely accessible to the home market.
The Linksys Broadband Router is ideal for anyone who wants to share their broadband connection to multiple computers in the home, without the hassle of hanging network cables out of windows or pulling all the floorboards up!
Straight out the box the unit is aesthetically pleasing and contains everything to get you started. A word of warning however, the product contains a quick start guide which shows you the bare minimum to get the unit up and running, the actual manual is presented in a electronic format on CD-ROM. Unless you want everyone else in your neighbourhood who has a wireless card accessing your internet connection I would recommend reading the full...

WIRELESS WONDER
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by
allyoxley
Advantages: Less Wires Hanging around plus broadband everywhere
Disadvantages: found it hard to set up at first
...After purchasing my Acer Laptop (see review) and moving my Desktop PC up into my Boy's room, I decided to delve into the unknown for me and get myself a Wireless Router, that way I could get Broadband all over the house without boring wires through the ceiling and so on.
I picked up a brilliant deal at PC World and got the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router and USB Adaptor both for £39.99 as a package deal, individually it would have been around £70.00 so well impressed there.
A bit of technical stuff:-
It states a 35% FASTER download speed (I can back this up and say this is true)
The speed is listed as 125mbps
Gateway Router(DSL)
NAT & SP Firewalls
Windows XP compatiable only
There is also a 24hour phone support line from Linksys.
This router is designed for NTL/Cable/Telewest Customers oly (not BT)
On getting home I opened...

Linksys Wireless-G - Heh, It's Winking At Me
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by
BNibbles
Advantages: New faster wi-fi standard. Easy to set-up
Disadvantages: None specific to Linksys, but wi-fi HAS to less secure than a wired LAN
...hands for 30 quid, so at £50 it’s a cheap upgrade.
LINKSYS WIRELESS-G BROADBAND ROUTER (WRT54G)
As you’ll see, they’ve streamlined the name of these things in the last year or so! This is a typical Linksys job to look at, being of a common corporate stackable design about the size that modems used to be, with a couple of ‘1st generation’ rubber cell-phone antennae sticking out of the back. This one doesn’t quite have the full array of pretty lights that its predecessor had, but this has enabled then to make it a lower profile than my old one.
Its power comes from the usual outboard mains adapter, enabling the Cisco, the parent company to supply more or less the same equipment worldwide. The only other accessory supplied, apart from the installation disk is the extra bit of networking cable you’ll need – I’ll explain.
A single PC using...

Right Choice for Home use
Review of Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G - wireless router by
omerali81
Advantages: Read review
Disadvantages: Read Review
...I got to know about this wireless WRT54G router from a friend, I saw him using at his home for months with out any hassle, so I bought one for me from my nearest computer shop. After that day I started using other Linksys products as well and found most of them very user friendly.
Linksys is a well known name in the market for making ADSL/broadband routers. They even make other products for VOIP like PAP2 etc and currently manufacturing most of the product from china.
Package and Out Look!
The box color is black and blue with router image in the middle of the box, the size of the box is small as 12 inches in width. When I open the box it has a black adopter just like laptop adapters, one CAT5 network cable, 2 tinny black wireless antennas and the router it self. The router is blue from the front with small lights for ports status...
