...I hadn't read any of Lisa Gardner's books before but had heard of her so when I saw she had a few in the library I picked up one that sounded good and wasn't too big to fit in my bag. The story is about a woman called Annabelle Granger who had spent most of her life on the run, as her father made the family move from place to place changing aliases throughout her childhood until eventually they ended up back in their hometown of Boston and her father died. One morning Annabelle opens the paper and discovers that she has been declared dead, her body found in an underground chamber along with five other young girls. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. This book has been published as ?I Mona Lisa? is the USA, but the title was changed to ?Painting Mona Lisa? for the UK market. I don?t think they should have changed the title, as the book spends little time telling us of the Mona Lisa painting, but the lady, known as Mona Lisa, is the main character of the story. A women's movie, whether Mona, or Lisa, or...

Advantages: Looks great, nostalgic look at a narrow section of US life
Disadvantages: Period details may not be that accurate, very soppy

Advantages: Getting to know a few weird facts about moi!

Her Mummy Knew But Did Nothing

...the local charity shop was a book called Mummy Knew by Author Lisa James. I bought this book as the blurb on the back of it appealed to me and it was a true story and I prefer reading these kinds of books. The author of the book Lisa James is an author whom I?ve never heard of before which is not surprising as this is her first book and it had only been released in September 2009 and I bought it from the Cancer Research Shop in Mid-October. The copy of Mummy Knew ? Lisa James which I bought was a Paper Back Edition which was in excellent condition considering it was second hand from the Charity Shop. ...I'm quite fussy when it comes to books. Usually will go for autobiographies, or fiction by the same authors . I don't normally read anything by a new author unless I've heard an awful lot of praise about them. Until recently though I had not heard of author Lisa Gardner, and when faced with her latest, 'The Neighbour', something inside me made me rather keen to give it a read! I have to hold my hand up and admit that I do judge a book by its cover, despite the fact that I shouldn't! Clearly, a lot of thought has gone into the cover of The Neighbour, as it caught my attention immediately. It has a main background colour of deep green, quite a murky colour.
