Coolmint Listerine

Advantages: freshens breath, antiseptic, accredited by the British Dental Assc
Disadvantages: Contains alcohol, can be a little tOo strong!

...Coolmint Listerine is an antiseptic mouth wash that claims to kill germs and prevent dental plaque and bad breath. It is sold in three different size bottles, 150ml, 250ml and 500ml. Im not sure how much the 150ml bottle retails for but the 250ml bottle is £2:14, whilst the 500ml one is £2:83.This is quite good value for money and there are a lot of mouthwashes on the market that are a lot more expenisve and a lot less effective. The packaging for this product is fairly plain, the product is quite a strong green colour and comes in a clear bottle with three labels on. One of the things that Listerine like to make clear is that this mouth was is approved by the BDA (British Dental Association) and this is on a big red sticker at the top. ...Like most people I enjoy fresh breath and white teeth so I was very excited to find this new Listerine Antibacterial Mouthwash, Stay White version in Sainsbury's a few weeks ago. It was approximately £2.50 for a 500ml bottle which I didn't think was too bad. We decided to go for the smaller 500ml bottle as opposed to the 1 litre as we never seem to go through a litre bottle and it always stays on the shelf and then I think it won't be that fresh. With the 500ml bottle we will use this quicker although it does have a best before date of 02/2010 so I'm sure we will use it before then. Advantages: A very strong mouthwash
Disadvantages: None...it does the job!

...There's mouthwashes...and then there's Listerine. A product such as Dentyl ph does the job, and you can clearly see the 'results' when you spit it back into the sink, but Listerine is a slightly cheaper but just as convincing mouthwash. It's main selling point is arguably it's incredibly strong flavour, which many will find overpowering and even uncomfortable; although milder tasting types are available apparently. (Thanks Wikipedia!) The Listerine brand has a consistent slogan of "Kills germs that cause bad breath", and being an antiseptic mouthwash it will do just that. The Freshburst version which I'm reviewing today has a particularly strong antiseptic feel to it. ...Original Listerine is probably not the most popular in terms of the taste, however it kills all the bacteria and germs just as well and maybe even better than some of the other flavoured mouthwash. Never again will i be plagued with bad breath because of something i've eaten. So, surely that horrible taste is only a small problem compared to the benefits. Previously i used to chew gum to prevent bad breath, and too much chewing gum can result in a poorer digestive system as the enzymes produced when chewing digest the intestine wall with no medium to digest. Therefore this was a perfect solution to my problem. ...Having good teeth is important to me, I will never forget the time when the dental nurse came into school and proceeded to embarrass everyone who didn't brush their teeth properly by making us eat those horrid tablets which showed up the dirt and grime on your teeth and then showed the whole class where we needed to brush and to brush properly. The best thing about those visits was the good people got some sweets (which I always found slightly odd) and we were given a free toothbrush, a sticker and some toothpaste.
