...Liteon LVW-5002 DVD Player I have had this DVD player now for a couple of years and I think I am stuck with it until I can get the funds together to get another one. I have been disappointed with this player since day one and I wish I had returned it as soon as I realised how rubbish it truly was. I bought it from Curry's as I say a few years ago when the recordable DVD player first came out. I paid £180 for the machine with remote control and this price was pretty much the cheapest I could find for a recordable DVD player at that time. I think you can pick them up for probably about half the price now. The DVD player really looks the part and is a lovely silver and mirror design. The player looks very flash and the mirrors on the box hide the part where you put in the DVD disc. There are few buttons on the outside...

DVD Recorder Thats Liteon the Wallet!

Advantages: Good Picture/sound quality, wide range of features, value for money.

...I purchased this dvd recorder from Dixon's at a very reasonable cost (£90) and thought it was good value for money after having read a few good reviews on it. HDMI for connecting to High Def. LiteOn LVW-5035 DVD recorder with 160GB hard drive

Advantages: One touch recording, no discs needed, cheap set but great quality
Disadvantages: Only recognises certain discs, needs updates regularly

...This is a great set!!! does everything you need. Records from the TV with one touch of a button, straight onto the hard drive which will take hours of programmes, there's no loss of quality as it is all digital! So crystal clear images every time. We have had our recorder for about 4 years now and its still going strong, we have to download updates from the LiteOn website periodically to keep it up to date. It plays all types of DVD's, CD's, MP3's, picture discs, VCD's, SVCD's, Data discs, Media discs and will copy all discs as long as they are not protected by copyright. It will even play Nero media files taken off your PC. It records DVD RW/R +/-, CD RW/R +/-, will write in MP3 format if the original was in MP3. Its not that slow either, its a great all rounder and simple to use. My dad is the expert on this machine...

More Lights Off Than LiteOn

...I have always been a strong supporter of LiteOn DVD products, as well as a DVD writer in one of my PC's I have two LiteON DVD players and two different LiteON DVD recorders all of which I have reviewed and been fiercely proud of; however a recent budget purchase has put LiteOn on a much different plateau in my mind. In our new home the size of one of my DVD recorders meant that a new purchase was needed; room in our bedroom in a little scarce as we traded down to increase our financial situation. With new bedroom furniture in it meant an existing recorder was millimetres to big for the location. So I headed off into town where I purchased the LiteOn LVW-1105 from Currys. ...was burning on my old drive and that was it you knew the burn had failed. Not with Liteon I can dance around the room and burn without a glich I don't intend upgrading this baby just yet and after 2 years in technology terms thats a bit unusual. I've thought about upgrading the firmware but to be honest I don't see the need. It does a perfect job as is. If it ain't broke don't fix it. This DVD writer is 1 superb deal it's fast, cheap and top notch quality...

This was an NEC model 1300a and was one of the first to handle both DVD-R and DVD+R formats, without paying the somewhat inflated prices being bandied around by Sony at the time. I've just taken delivery of a LiteOn SOHW-1693 DVD writer that not only writes to everything that the NEC will, AND with its 16-speed write-velocity it's 4 times faster, but it will handle dual-layer writable DVD media too, and all for £29! Dual Layer? Yes, one of the limitations of early DVD writers is that they would only write around 4.8 gigabytes of information before becoming full. Liteon LVW 5001 all you need for dvd recording

...I decided to vvrite this revievv because of the, sometimes amusing, negative testreports about this DVD recorder ( even read in a German test, do not laugh, No video tracking or audio tracking on board...(?) ) I bought this Liteon dvd recorder, let's be honest, because the seller told me that if I should be dissapointed I could bring it back and he should in that case refund my purchase. But vvhat a surprise, after reading the manual ( translatred from Chinese to German and back to English ) 3 times, connecting the cables I recorded my first DVD. I tested it on all 4 speed levels and even in the 6 hours mode, the picture and sound seemed okay to me, but, again honest, that is after 20 years of VHS recording;) The 5001 has everything on board you need for recording, AV plus I-link on the front side, 2 scartcable connections...

LiteOn Top dog for price & quality

Advantages: Easy to use, reliable & its just Plug & Play
Disadvantages: May need a firmware upgrade, depending on what media you use.

...Where can I start, everyone should have something like this. I mainly use this for backing up information when I?m out & about doing odd jobs for people or research into my next project. The speed, style & reliability of this was a main issue for me, it hit all the right buttons & works like a dream. It does everything a normal internal DVD-RW should do, except you can plug it into any pc/laptop with a USB 2.0 port and your away. The downsides I found about this product was.. You need to upgrade the firmware to allow it to recognise some cheaper versions of DVD?s. Such as a version of DataWrite DVD-R?s that was manufactured as 8x DVD?s, but a technical issue prevented the Initial creation from being 8x but only 4x. Now, most DVD-R are mostly 8x now, but some 4x about still, and some of the higher tech DVD Writers will have...
