Advantages: It's rewarding, it gives you an excuse to be nosy about stuff in the name of good communications
Disadvantages: Can be a dumping ground for work people can't pigeonhole, have to be very careful re confidentiality

I paid £180 for the machine with remote control and this price was pretty much the cheapest I could find for a recordable DVD player at that time. Internal Mangler

Advantages: Eclectic, surprising, energetic
Disadvantages: length, fails to capitalise on band's early promise

...This is Clinic's first album proper after last year's hugely exciting EP collection. Where that compilation presented a hotch-potch of baffling instrumentals and buzzing low budget, home recorded psychedelic garage epics, "Internal Wrangler" consists of... erm, more of the same, actually. The sound of the album is very rough and ready and there have been numerous negative opinions expressed about it's overwhelming similarity to the Velvet Underground's sound, but don't be taken in. Clinic have taken their blueprint and added helium-pitched, barking vocals (a little like Brian Molko out of Placebo being tortured with a mangler), Mary Chain thrash guitars and even Krautrock rhythms. Advantages: Nice Appearance
Disadvantages: No menu and quite difficult to set up

...ready television so I didn't connect the HDMI cable. Playback of all my bought dvds was excellent so I was well chuffed with my purchase. Now to the drawbacks.................................... My first attempt at playing a divx movie was a disaster. Picture was perfect but the sound was out of sync and the movie shuddered occasionally. I looked up liteon website and found there was firmware to correct this problem, which I downloaded, followed the correct procedure but it made no difference. I thought perhaps it was the discs I was using but after playing them on my son's player there was no fault with the discs, which were high quality discs. LiteOn - Strange name - Excellent product!

Advantages: Easy Backup from TV/SAT/VHS/MiniDV Camcorder - Features Timeslip / Edit Out Adverts / 160Gb Storage Capacity / Writes on both DVD+/- R and CD's
Disadvantages: Slow to boot up / Difficult to cut to exact frames when removing adverts

The convenience of not having to search for a disc and being able to record or back up video then edit out bits I didn't want, was just too huge an attraction.
