The LG LH3000 The truh
Advantages: cheap, 1080p brillaint sound, AV mode design... everything really
Disadvantages: --
... LG LH3000
Intro
I got this TV for my birthday for my room, it was £400 from argos which i thought was a bargin, and so it was. 1080p, 32", 80,000 to one sound contrast, 50hz, freeview, brillaint look and an energy saving button. i got this tv mainly to play on my ps3, i heard that 1080p and game consoles just made it so much more than a game, and it does, the size is the perfect the picture is wicked, but lets get into detail
Design
The LG3000 is glossy black just like a ps3 with invisible sound speakers. this makes the TV look as good as it can, sometimes if you put holes in a TV it either looks ugle or dust gets in it etc etc but this just gets ride of that problem and gets a better result (ill explane later) it comes with a stand easy to install and a plastic cover for when putting on a wall (cant see it just...

LG 22LH2000. Satisfyingly adequate
Advantages: Connectivity, Weight, Price
Disadvantages: Build quality
...concerned about was connectivity because I have a number of digital cameras that have HDMI connections, a VCR and DVD player that connect via SCART and an S-Video to Composite Video output from my PC for when I want to use a second monitor. The 22LH2000 has 2 x SCART sockets (of which one is RGB), 1 x HDMI, 1 x Coax aerial, 1 x VGA monitor socket, an audio input and a set of Composite Video sockets.
For the sake of experimentation (and nothing else) I did try plugging my PC into the VGA socket and the TV functions perfectly well as a monitor, with a maximum resolution of 1360 x 760 pixels. The quality of the display was more than adequate ? although a little less crisp than my Emprex monitor. I?m sure I could fine tune this if it was ever going to become a permanent arrangement.
Initial set-up was easy enough, with the TV handling most...

Liteon LVW-5002 DVD Player
Advantages: it looks pretty!!!
Disadvantages: it doesnt work at all
...Liteon LVW-5002 DVD Player
I have had this DVD player now for a couple of years and I think I am stuck with it until I can get the funds together to get another one. I have been disappointed with this player since day one and I wish I had returned it as soon as I realised how rubbish it truly was.
I bought it from Curry's as I say a few years ago when the recordable DVD player first came out. I paid £180 for the machine with remote control and this price was pretty much the cheapest I could find for a recordable DVD player at that time. I think you can pick them up for probably about half the price now.
The DVD player really looks the part and is a lovely silver and mirror design. The player looks very flash and the mirrors on the box hide the part where you put in the DVD disc. There are few buttons on the outside...

Move over Sony! LG are in the picture now!
Advantages: Superb picture and sound
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
..., budget of no more than £400, HD ready, and a good reputation. Above all, it needed a good picture quality. Wandering round the usual places we saw a few sets that met this criteria but we were not necessarily bowled over by them. Then we walked into our local Comet and, amongst the others, we saw the LG 32LH3000 on offer for £399.99.
We had a good look at it in the shop and it met/exceeded all our criteria, plus one more we hadn't thought of... it looked pretty good, too! The salesman also told us that it hadn't long been on the market and that it should be £550, not £400! He said it was a steal at this price. His words were duly taken with a large pinch of salt, and we headed home to check it out properly. The few reviews we found online said the same thing... it was extremely good, so much so that one reviewer put it up against his friend...

More Lights Off Than LiteOn
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Dreadfully unreliable
...I have always been a strong supporter of LiteOn DVD products, as well as a DVD writer in one of my PC's I have two LiteON DVD players and two different LiteON DVD recorders all of which I have reviewed and been fiercely proud of; however a recent budget purchase has put LiteOn on a much different plateau in my mind.
In our new home the size of one of my DVD recorders meant that a new purchase was needed; room in our bedroom in a little scarce as we traded down to increase our financial situation. With new bedroom furniture in it meant an existing recorder was millimetres to big for the location. So I headed off into town where I purchased the LiteOn LVW-1105 from Currys. Digital, priced at just £79. Proudly rushing home with my new toy under my arm I was confident that the LiteOn brand was the one for me.
Install is straight...

Shedding a Little LiteOn the Subject
Advantages: Cheap, can be made multi-region. Works well. PC Pro Best Buy
Disadvantages: Doesn't alter the fact that dual layer media is not cheap! Possible dual-layer compatibility issues with home DVD players
...It's about three years since I first bought a DVD-writing machine for my main desktop PC. This was an NEC model 1300a and was one of the first to handle both DVD-R and DVD+R formats, without paying the somewhat inflated prices being bandied around by Sony at the time. Overall, I think it cost me around £130.
Oh! How the mighty, (or prices, in this case) have fallen.
I've just taken delivery of a LiteOn SOHW-1693 DVD writer that not only writes to everything that the NEC will, AND with its 16-speed write-velocity it's 4 times faster, but it will handle dual-layer writable DVD media too, and all for £29!
Dual Layer? Yes, one of the limitations of early DVD writers is that they would only write around 4.8 gigabytes of information before becoming full. This might not sound like much of a limitation to those used to a CD-ROM's 700...

A wonderful vision in black
Advantages: Ease to use and wonderful to view
Disadvantages: none found yet
...LG 32LH2000 ? Simply a Beautiful piece of technology.
I haven?t had much chance lately to get on here but felt you really needed to know about this new addition to the family!!! My bargain buy last month was this sleek little number from Comet.
I had come into a bit of a windfall ( well compensation for my accident ? 3yrs ago!!) and decided to treat myself and family to a new TV. Our old faithful was really on the way out and I knew it wouldn?t cope with the new switch over heading to our area soon.
After shopping around I was attracted to the LG 32LH200 for 2 reasons really ? its classy appearance and more importantly the fact it had just been reduced down to £379. I did also manage to negotiate a really great price on a smaller TV for my bedroom, if I paid cash for the two sets.
The final price being £450 for both...

Liteon LVW-5045
Advantages: Large 160GB hard drive, good-quality recording, copy DVDs to hard drive
Disadvantages: Basic looks
...The Liteon LVW-5045 is a combi DVD/HD recorder with integrated 160GB hard drive.
After reading several reviews abou the Liteon LVW-5045 it was touch and go as to whether to part with my hard earned cash and ditch my old VCR. I had read that some purchasers had had problems with the device crashing and being unable to turn the machine off. I eventually decided to take the plunge and boy am I glad that I did.
I had read that the firmware in the machine was upgradeable, so before turning it on, I went to the website and downloaded the latest firmware to CD. All very easy.
From first use, I was impressed with how easy it was to operate the machine. All of the functions are accessible from an easer guider on screen menu. All functions are so easy to access.
I immediately started to transfer my favourite videos to...
