...Little Miss Sunshine is a bit of a different film to the type that I enjoy watching but none the less it is one of my favourites. It first came out in the cinemas in 2006, so is a couple of years old now. Little Miss Sunshine is about an American family. They are not the perfect family that is normally depicted in films though, they are a bit rough round the edges. The dad Richard (Greg Kinnear) is a life coach who is trying his hardest to become a successful business man but failing. Mum Sheryl (Toni Collette) is trying to do her best for her whole family but can't help arguing with Richard. ...?Little Miss Bossy? is the first in the Little Miss series of books which were begun by Roger Hargreaves and continued after his death by his son, Adam. Roger Hargreaves began writing the Little Miss stories in 1981 after the Mr Men stories proved to be a big success. I always preferred the Little Miss stories to the Mr Men ones when I was little, but my boys seem to enjoy both sets equally. Naughty or bad characters seem to go down particularly well! Little Miss Bossy is a very round, blue little thing with short, stubby arms and legs, a HUGE mouth [presumably for bossing people about with] and a red and yellow hat with a flower sticking out of it. Little Miss Surreal

Advantages: Lovely bizarre road movie, perfectly balancing family dilemma and humour
Disadvantages: Can seem slow and, sometimes, a little over the top

...BACKGROUND: The film has won numerous awards, mostly at international festivals such as 2006 Sydney Film Festival and prestigious critics award institutes such as the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. ...Now Little Miss Bossy has always been one of those books that just seems to follow me around. Now obviously I don't mean it grows legs and literally follows me to college, round town and to the cinema but the character described in the book does seem to pop up from time to time. When I was younger Little Miss Bossy was a favourite book of mine and being quite a headstrong person at times my mum did take to calling me this now and then. This therefore means that whenever I have one of my bossy moments now the ideas within this story do get thrown across the living room. I suppose however this highlights how immensely popular and unforgettable these stories are. I mean my mum and dad still remember them clearly after nearly 10 years. ...Little Miss Christmas is one of 18 stories in the Mr Men and Little Miss books with added Sparkle collection. The reason these books are called with added sparkle is the fact that all of the front covers have something glittery or sparkly or shimmery about them. I must add at this point however that despite being a huge Mr Men and Little Miss fan I wasn't immediately aware of the existence of these books and to be truly honest have only recently begun to purchase them. I bought this one just after Christmas due to the fact that I had a small thought I might have gotten it for Christmas but unfortunately didn't. I purchased my copy from Asda and paid only £2 for it but this book as with the others in the series have a RRP of £2.99 although I still think this is good value. Little Miss FANTASTIC!!!

Advantages: a funny, surreal movie with a feel-good factor included
Disadvantages: can be kind of slow at certain times but still watchable

...I found this movie from my book "1001 Films to See Before You Die" and i have to agree with the book. This movie seems like a run-of-the-mill road trip move but the characters are so surreal and extraordinary that the film is intriguing and enjoyable to watch. The story follows Dwayne, a teenager with a vow of silence, his sister Olive, a young girl determined to live her dream of winning the Little Miss Sunshine Contest, their father Richard Hoover (Greg Kinnear) whos trying to publish a self-help book, their drug-addicted grandfather Edwin, their mother Sheryl Hoover(Toni Colette), and her depressed, suicidal brother Frank as they travel across the country to fulfill Olives dream. The series features a huge mix of sketches including the first black female US president; an upfront toilet attendant; and a bus driver who likes to sing hymns.
