Las Vegas Opulence

Advantages: Luxurious rooms, dining, fountain show, service
Disadvantages: Check in and general bedm in reception.

...For me only the Bellagio would do once we had decided to visit Las Vegas as the second stop on our honeymoon just over two years ago. The hotel featured in the Oceans' 11 film which I loved and I was particularly looking forward to seeing that famous water fountain show. The hotel is located roughly half way along the main Strip area in Vegas, it has an Italian theme and is beautiful to look at from the outside. It is set back from the street and the front of the building gently curves around "Lake Como". Providing it is not too windy, from 3pm in the afternoon the fountain show runs every fifteen minutes making for excellent photo opportunities and selling lots of postcards.   VIVA LAS VEGAS

Advantages: Totally out of this world experience, so much to see and do, great hotels and casinos
Disadvantages: Sleazy in places, a few days isn't long enough to see it all

...Las Vegas. As we have relatives living in California we flew to Los Angeles and stayed in California for a few days first then hired a car and drove to Las Vegas. As we knew we would need a hire car we started to shop around about a week before we were leaving, we carried out our research on the internet and found that with most Companies we were able to get an immediate online quote. Prices do vary quite considerably so it is worth shopping around, the best deal that we came up with was through Avis and cost us £376.00 for 15 days, including insurance, and that was for a Grand Pontiac, (size wise, this is comparable with to Ford Mondeo). The drive from Capistrano Beach, where we were staying, to Las Vegas took us approximately 5 hours, however, Capistrano Beach is about an hour away from LA Airport and if you were to drive...

Las Vegas - Wow!

Advantages: Vibrant, diverse, unique
Disadvantages: possible to lose all your money very fast

...It is a strange experience taking a vacation to a town in which you visit hotels to experience the attractions. I first visited Vegas as an 18 year old, and again this year (2008) aged 22, with warnings from some people that Vegas was a seedy place that was not suitable for a young man. Now having been twice I can see what these warnings were based on, it probably isn't the place for a young man to dwell, but my god it is just so much fun! Flying in to Vegas is a little odd. Sat on the wrong side of the plane, I saw literally nothing but desert as we descended and eventually landed. The Fantastic, Unforgettable Las Vegas

Advantages: A superb city, with so much to see and do
Disadvantages: A little bit seedy, Casinos not for Under 21's, you can loss loads of cash

...If someone had told me 3 months ago that I?d be spending Christmas in Las Vegas I would have told them they were mad. So when Rachel asked me to go 3 weeks before Christmas to attend their wedding there was no way I could say no. It was a trip I?d never thought of really making and certainly wasn?t high on my destinations list, or at least that?s what I thought. As the trip got the closer and the more I thought about it, the more I actually realised I really wanted to go. We flew out with Virgin Atlantic from Gatwick on the 23rd and some 10 hours and 4 films later arrived at Las Vegas, McCarran airport. It is a long flight to Vegas but taking off the 8 hours time difference meant we arrived at about one local time having left Gatwick at 10.30. There, we found some interesting places to visit, maps to obtain etc. For a 3-day visit, we had a great time. Advantages: A wealth of things to do and see and spend your cash on
Disadvantages: It can be seedy

The fountains draw in the tourists nightly - and from nightfall every thirty minutes the fountain show stops people in their tracks - the fountains elegantly dance to music to entertain the throngs. There is a fabulous shopping mall - where if you are like me you simper past wishing for a lottery win - Fendi, Prada and Tiffany are the stores to expect. The Casino as one would expect judging from the rest of the hotel is elegant and chic - but as l found with EVERY single Las Vegas hotel static electric shocks - Paul would take my hand and we would be blown apart with the shock! MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

Advantages: 4/5 star, great price, good gambling and atmosphere

...My husband and I have just gotten back from a trip to Las Vegas and chose the MGM hotel to stay at so this forms my review. The MGM is located right on the strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) right by Tropicana Avenue so fairly near one end of the strip. It is located close to the New York New York hotel and there is actually a walkway which joins the two hotels to give you easy access to both. The hotel in its present form was opened at the end of 1993. Most of the hotels in Las Vegas have a certain them that they like to promote through each of their casinos such at NY NY, Paris, The Venetian etc. The MGM in my opinion is not as heavily themed as the other hotels but follows along the lines of old Hollywood/California movies stars etc with the feature of the MGM lion and movie star photos in the bedrooms. As I mentioned before, the Montecito Hotel is fictional and with the pilot episode shot at the Mandalay Bay, the producers were a little stuck on where they could place the hotel complex after that. From what can be seen on screen is that it is placed opposite the Mandalay Bay and Luxor Hotel. The area is almost empty with small houses, warehouses and adjoining McCarran Airport. This is pretty believable for anyone who knows the city, even those who don't know it. However, if you know Las Vegas, you will notice that the Montecito Hotel has the habit of moving around and can be found a) opposite the Mandalay Bay b) behind the Mandalay Bay, c) where you would normally find the Monte Carlo, d) opposite The Venetian and Harrah's (not likely as you will find the TI - Treasure Island there).   A Superb Gamble in Vegas! The Paris Hotel!

Advantages: Something new to explore..you can be in Paris and Las Vegas at the same time!
Disadvantages: A bit pricy for some, you need more than two weeks to see everything!

It?s a very remarkably uncommon hotel . . . the outstanding hotel shape, the replicas, shops, restaurants, cafes, spas, swimming pool and wedding celebrations. The marriage between the lively and bubbly Las Vegas and the romantic luxurious Parisian spirit was a success . . . and I don?t think I?ve seen or am ever going to see anything like it again!
