Odeon - Liverpool's Number One
Advantages: Good sized screens, great auditoriums, caters for everyone,
Disadvantages: Popcorn sometimes cardboardy, expensive chocolate treats,
...I am a huge cinema fan, and living in the centre of Birmingham for the last couple of years has meant putting up with Odeon Birmingham. Needless to say, I was very happy to discover the brand spanking new Odeon in Liverpool One,
Odeon Liverpool One
Odeon is actually the largest cinema chain in the UK, created by Oscar Deutsch in 1928. Some say that the name comes from Ancient Greek, others say that it comes from the motto Oscar Deutsch Entertains Our Nation.
There are currently... a lot of Odeon cinemas across the UK (I tried to count, but it's a lot!). The website has a cinema finder to help you locate your nearest. For this review I shall be talking about Odeon, Liverpool ONE.
When Liverpool ONE was redeveloped, the city centre Odeon branch was relocated here. The entrance can be found...

Formule 1 Liverpool City Center
Advantages: Cheap, good location.
Disadvantages: shareing toilet and shower,
...My first time to this hotel, in Liverpool town center didnt really leave me with any positves about this place, for the price they charge though, i wasnt expecting much more then just a room. I was quite surprised to find a Television with a remote control, a sink for a quick wash, free towels, and a bunk bed, being a double on the bottom and single on the top.
The decor is very basic, the one and only window only opened half way, so wasnt able to get much fresh air into the room.
As for the toilets and shower, they are shared with other people on the same floor as you, they are both in seperate areas, was an awfull smell coming from the toilets, so had to hold my nose while in there. As for the shower, it was quite roomy, with space to put your towel, a mirror, and hot running water. No slip mat on the floor, the whole shower was...

Liverpool Lovelies Trilogy ... Part 2
Advantages: Loads of room to park our bottoms, jacuzzi, freebies and a huge bed!
Disadvantages: Having to knock on the door like an old strumpet at 5am, paying for parking my car, cheek!!
...of us slept very well if at all. Jo your bed is a nightmare girl, how she sleeps in it is beyond me it was like sleeping on a concrete block, Jules ended up with a bad back and I had an aching face from laughing at her most of the night. It was decided there and then to check into a hotel for the following night.
Ringing round that morning though was proving difficult, it was Liverpool's last game of the season and all the hotels were fully booked, good from the point of view that the city center would be full of men, bad because we needed to sleep ... eventually.
We finally found a hotel with one room only for the night, The Holiday Inn Liverpool City Center. It was close to everything, in fact right on the doorstep of the clubs and bars, handy for late night stumbling, but one problem, the only room available was The Presidential...

Classy Liverpool Marriott
Advantages: Central, clean, helpful staff, good facilities
Disadvantages: Price of food!
...Me and my girlfriend stayed in the Marriott for one night back in March 2007.
The reception area in the Marriott is very nice and extremely clean.
When checking in the receptionist was very friendly, offering us extra services and any help/advice we needed for our stay.
The conceirge was also very polite, helping us in the lift and offering us help with our bags.
The actual room was great, a lovely view looking onto some of Liverpool's historic buildings and the bed was very comfortable. The room was extremely clean and the bathroom was also very nice.
We had a meal in the hotel and although the service was second to none, and the meal was beautiful, the pricing was extremely high. We would not eat in the hotel if we stayed again as there are many lovely restaurants close by the hotel offering much greater value. The meal...

Once upon a time, in Liverpool...
Advantages: An excellent museum dedicated to the Fab Four, suitable for all age groups
Disadvantages: Some of the headsets are a bit dodgy (it was just mine) and some displays not working
...This time during the month of Beatlemania, instead of just writing about the bands albums, films and death theories, I wanted to write about some of the ways in which Liverpool still celebrate the lives of their favourite sons (beside the football players!). Although Ringo made a few disparaging comments towards his hometown a year or two ago, the phrase ?everyone has to start somewhere? springs to mind and ? although I may be a little bias ? I would have to say that Liverpool is very much the land of opportunity compared to where I live!
Right at the heart of the city is Albert Dock, a place now surrounded by various shops, museums and even a hotel with the Echo Arena mere feet away. When I was very little, perhaps six, I remember Mummy and Daddy, as they were affectionately called back then, taking my Brother and I right near...

Liverpool Football Club
Advantages: Great squad, great fans, great manager, great history
Disadvantages: No league title for 16 years
...the treble that year. His reward? He was shipped out to Leeds for £12 million.
Everything went wrong from there on. His goal scoring record for Leeds was not too bad but when the club fell apart the Leeds faithful turned on him and he was sold on to Man City for a much reduced fee, with Leeds paying 50% of his wages for the rest of his contract.
His time at Man City was also not plain sailing. He struggled to overcome injuries and had to play alongside serial sulker Nicolas Anelka. To make things worse the Frenchman wouldn't pass and Fowler struggled to make an impact. After a couple of hard seasons and much contemplation about his future, Robbie began to find a bit of the old magic. He scored the third goal in a 3-1 victory over Manchester United and Liverpool made their swoop in January.
Since returning to the club Robbie has shown...

Lively Liverpool
Advantages: I live here
Disadvantages: Some shops aren't here, the weather
..., purveyors of the most delicious sausage rolls. There is a Sayers café at the rear of Marks and Spencer as well as a large café in St. John's precinct.
I'd recommend: All of the shops, after all I am a woman. It took me & my sister about 4 hours to visit all of the shops on Wednesday.
EATING OUT:
Liverpool has a good mix of restaurants, as you'd expect from a city. If you're looking for something classy and expensive (and the glimpse of some football players) take a walk down to Albert Dock (Est Est Est, Blue Bar & Café). For Chinese it has to be Chinatown, which you'll find by walking up to the top of Bold Street. If you like Italian food, I'd highly recommend Villa Romano, a nice little restaurant at the bottom of Wood Street. For Indian try the top of Bold Street. A great place to go if you're with people who like different types...

Liverpool in trouble
Advantages: One of the biggest clubs in Europe...
Disadvantages: ...going through their worst run in 50 years.
...Picture the scene; it's early November and after a 2-0 win against West Ham, Liverpool went seven points clear at the top of the Premiership and were striding towards a place in the next round of the Champions League, it appeared that it would have to take something very special to knock them out of their stride. Three months on and defeats to the likes of Middlesborough and Sunderland have seen Liverpool slump down the Premiership with no wins in eleven games and an early exit from the Champion League at the hands of little known Swiss club Basle. So where has it all gone wrong for the mighty reds?
Every pundit, fan and his dog has had their two pence worth. Excuses and reasons range from poor management and lack of commitment from the players, to wrong formation and wrong players. I think the problem is much simpler...

UPDATED Liverpool FC Treble winners 2001
Advantages: On their Day can Beat absolutely ANYONE
Disadvantages: Cant we just win something the easy way for once
...Oh well, I think its about time I re-wrote my opinion on Liverpool, I wrote the original opinion earlier in the season, when we where showing terrible inconsistency, but it seems this got sorted out, as we went on to win a “HISTORIC TREBLE”, by winning the Worthington Cup, The FA Cup and the U.E.F.A Cup, a fete that has never been done by any English team, and hopefully we can round off a great season on Saturday, by gaining the third Champions League place, by beating Charlton Athletic.
The Worthington cup was won in Cardiff on the 25th of February, by beating a very brave and committed Birmingham City, who took us all the way to penalties, after the match ended 1-1 after extra-time, maybe this was the warning to us Liverpool fans, that if we won this Treble, it would be at the cost of our Health and Sanity, as this was...

Lively Liverpool
Advantages: Lively,exuberant,night life. Cheap food.
Disadvantages: Rainy .
...Liverpool is one of my favourite cities in the UK,as it is for the well known American born travel writer Bill Bryson. The city has a wonderful waterfront with attractive 20 th century buildings such as the Cunard Building, the Liver Birds, and then there is the lovingly restored Albert Dock, one of Britain's most popular tourist attractions.
There are architectural gems in the city such as the elegant Adelphi Hotel, the arcades, and some of the buildings in Water Street. Matthew Street has associations with the Beatles, and there is the famed Walker Art Gallery that is well worth a visit.
Liverpool has a lively night life. There are some magnificent pubs in this old maritime city such as the Philarmonic,a great favourite of the late John Lennon.Eating out opportunities are stupendous with the likes of Indian,Somali, Greek, Chinese...
