Ciao The Careers Advisor
Advantages: Interesting
Disadvantages: none
...The Education and Careers section I ciao is probably one of the most friendly and competitive sections on Ciao! Education & Careers covers 4 main sub sections, Higher/Further education, Careers and placements, Gap Years & Alternative Activities and finally Books and guides.
The Higher & further education section basically is competitive amongst those who love their university I know I have written on praising Liverpool University. As well as this there are some valuable opinions on people that have left different universities and why definitely worth a read if you are making the move in the next year. Not so popular in this section is reviews of specific courses at university but who wants to write about there course there are so many more interesting things to write about university life. This section also contains valuable...

unmissable educational advice
Advantages: superb ops that help you
Disadvantages: ......................
...As a student looking towards the daunting but ominously looming fate known as FUTURE, there are many possibilities that may fall my way! University, jobs, apprenticeships, gap years and other further educational options all are starting to poke their ugly heads round into my sugar coated A level life! My college are constantly bombarding me with helpful leaflets and info sheets telling me what to do, and careers guides are scribbling down library books and internet addresses where I can draw advice from! It was not until I was rating a well written opinion that I realized CIAO was full of people who had been there, or were going through it that had kindly written their thoughts, ideas, advantages and places to avoid all in one archive! I decided it was time to head onto the section I had missed for so long! That’s right, I entered...

Friends For Life - A new Incentive for Primary Education
Advantages: Preparing our children for the stresses of our modern world
Disadvantages: none
...~~~~Friends For Life ~~~~
Prevention of Anxiety & Depression in Children.
(Before you start reading this review - I will warn you that it is a long review, my longest to date, but if you can take on board what is about you will see that this programme can also help adults that find coping with life stressful and sometimes so difficult that they can suffer with depression).
This Primary Education Programme is something new to our school and the area.
For the past 8 weeks I have been privileged to work with the school nurse and her team on a new initiation, from Australia, that helps prevent ?Anxiety and Depression? children. ?What ? Anxiety & Depression in children?? I hear some of you ask. It?s true - recent studies have shown that in today?s fast moving more people...

Once upon a time, in Liverpool...
Advantages: An excellent museum dedicated to the Fab Four, suitable for all age groups
Disadvantages: Some of the headsets are a bit dodgy (it was just mine) and some displays not working
...This time during the month of Beatlemania, instead of just writing about the bands albums, films and death theories, I wanted to write about some of the ways in which Liverpool still celebrate the lives of their favourite sons (beside the football players!). Although Ringo made a few disparaging comments towards his hometown a year or two ago, the phrase ?everyone has to start somewhere? springs to mind and ? although I may be a little bias ? I would have to say that Liverpool is very much the land of opportunity compared to where I live!
Right at the heart of the city is Albert Dock, a place now surrounded by various shops, museums and even a hotel with the Echo Arena mere feet away. When I was very little, perhaps six, I remember Mummy and Daddy, as they were affectionately called back then, taking my Brother and I right near...

*Knowledge Management - the lost art*
Advantages: excellent organisation is paramount
Disadvantages: without it your at sea without a compass
...CIAO Review - Knowledge Management - the lost art.
~the importance of 'Knowledge Management' at work~ dated 23/11/2007
* Hi, I thought I would publish online the role of this supposedly forgotton technique 'Knowledge Management'. I hope this report will help you with your career paths.*
-Knowledge Management in business -
Your business is only as good as your Manager's 'Knowledge Management Skills'. Every Manager possesses some form of management skill that got them to their current position; but the ones who incorporate 'Knowledge Management' in their team, are the ones that do succeed, and in return have an edge on their counterparts.
Traditionally, some employees see information and knowledge as 'power' and are very reluctant to share information with other employees. Many of us think the sharing of information in this...

Educational fun.
Advantages: Versatilty, price.
Disadvantages: The pencil is a little too thin
...This is the first handheld console I have ever owned. I'm 27 years old.
The main reason I purchased the DS was so I could play 'Brain Training Games' or other Educational games. I played on a friends and found it very entertaining, I figured that if I bought one myself I'd challenge myself mentally and wouldn't just sit around watching TV!
The best thing about the DS is the genre of games available for it, similar to the WII - Nintendo decided to target a different audience than the stereotypical gamers. I feel the succeeded in doing so. I read an article that a school had introduced the use of Nintendo DSs into children's mathematics lesson, with results of better learning and improved concentration. I am also a teacher and my children loved testing their knowledge on various maths games.
The feel of the DS is also very nice...

Liverpool Football Club
Advantages: Great squad, great fans, great manager, great history
Disadvantages: No league title for 16 years
...some glittering performances for AZ on their way to the 2004/05 UEFA Cup semi final.
Villarreal spotted his talents and snapped him up in the summer of 2005. He found it difficult to settle in Spain and the language barrier proved too much. Having only spent a few months at the club Liverpool swooped with a swap deal offer of Josemi, who was also experiencing language difficulties, which Villareal duly accepted.
His debut came against Luton in the 5-3 FA Cup thriller. Since his move, Jan has proved a reliable performer. His preferred position is at right back but he has shown versatility already, having been played at right midfield on occasion.
3. Steve Finnan
Born on 24th April 1976 in Limerick, Ireland, Steve Finnan has long been known as a fully committed, consistent performer. He started his career at the grass roots level...

Odeon - Liverpool's Number One
Advantages: Good sized screens, great auditoriums, caters for everyone,
Disadvantages: Popcorn sometimes cardboardy, expensive chocolate treats,
...that there is nearly always a 3D on show here. I've noticed that more and more films are coming out in 3D now, and a nice variety to cater for all tastes and ages. It will cost a tad more to watch a 3D film, but they are worth it. You are provided with glasses when you buy your tickets.
* Advance Screenings - if you're lucky enough to get your hands on tickets, Odeon do screen films before general release. I've managed to see one so far - a whole 10 days before general UK release.
* Educational films - Odeon Liverpool ONE claim to show films that are relevant to subjects covered in the national curriculum and encourage schools to bring groups on visits, and also suggesting that it could be useful for students in further and higher education studying media and communication. They can provide more information if you contact...

A career in SALT?
Advantages: Excellent book with lots of relevent information
Disadvantages: None!
...set out like this as if I don't know what an abbreviation means I can flip straight to the beginning of the book and take a look.
Examples,
I CAN - A charity that helps children with Speech and Language difficulties
RCSLT - Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
SENCo - Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator
~ Introduction - Frequently asked questions ~
This part makes really easy reading as the answers to the questions are not too long but give enough detail to satisfy.
Some of the questions include: Is it an easy job? What are the career prospects? Should I learn Sign Language? And, What other professionals will I work with?
I think this is an effective start to the book as it gives a brief overview of what is involved in the career.
*Part I - Speech and Language Therapy as a Career*

Liverpool in trouble
Advantages: One of the biggest clubs in Europe...
Disadvantages: ...going through their worst run in 50 years.
...Picture the scene; it's early November and after a 2-0 win against West Ham, Liverpool went seven points clear at the top of the Premiership and were striding towards a place in the next round of the Champions League, it appeared that it would have to take something very special to knock them out of their stride. Three months on and defeats to the likes of Middlesborough and Sunderland have seen Liverpool slump down the Premiership with no wins in eleven games and an early exit from the Champion League at the hands of little known Swiss club Basle. So where has it all gone wrong for the mighty reds?
Every pundit, fan and his dog has had their two pence worth. Excuses and reasons range from poor management and lack of commitment from the players, to wrong formation and wrong players. I think the problem is much simpler...
