A must see destination in Australia

Advantages: amazing lakes, sand dunes, brilliant camping experience
Disadvantages: get dirty and smelly but that really doesn't matter when you're having such a great time!

...Fraser Island is a must see destination in Australia. You can get to the island from Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach which on the Sunshine Coast just above Brisbane, although Hervey Bay is closer and offers a larger variety of tours to choose from. Different tours are available - you can either go on a guided tour where a guide drives you round and does most of the stuff for you or there is the self drive tour which I have to say I think is the better choice. On the self drive tour you are in a group of 10-12 people and are left to do everything by yourself. Although this might sound a bit daunting it really was one of the best things I ever did. If you are 21 or over and hold a driving license you are able to drive the van but if you'd prefer not to you don't have to. The road are bumping paths through the forest or the long beach which is...

Once upon a time, in Liverpool...

Advantages: An excellent museum dedicated to the Fab Four, suitable for all age groups
Disadvantages: Some of the headsets are a bit dodgy (it was just mine) and some displays not working

...the name and outside the museum there was a special Sgt. Pepper/Yellow Submarine Superlambanana which really set the scene for the colourful exhibitions that were set to be on offer once inside the Beatles Story. My Mum literally had to drag me away from the concrete mound because I instantly fell in love with it... ROLL UP FOR THE MYSTERY TOUR! As you go inside the Beatles story, you are instantly hurled back into the threshold of War-time Britain, when the four babes destined to be a part of Britain?s most prolific America Music Invaders were born. Although some of this section of the museum wasn?t specifically Beatles related, it gave you a good idea of Liverpool in the aftermath of WWII and also gave you an inkling as to what kind of environment John, Paul, George and Ringo grew up in. On the right hand side as you walk into...

GAP YEAR - Working in Australia

Advantages: You get to work in and see another country
Disadvantages: It can be stressful

.... There are other networks maybe that are cheaper, yet again I did not check this out. Next point of call is getting work. I needed to make sure I could get to work either by walking, public transport or I could have bought a car. Personally I used trains as I lived only 10 minutes away from the city centre by train so it was very handy. The most sensible thing then to do was look for work in the city centre (everyone called it the CBD - Central Business District), I'd never heard this term before it was all new to me. Right so where to look for a job was my main problem at the start. The city was so big and there was so much information everywhere I was totally lost. I would advise people wanting to get a job in Australia to try the newspaper, sign up to recruitment agencies in person and there is recruitment website (an example is www...

In my Liverpool Home

Advantages: Great City, Friendly People, Wonderful Buildings, etc
Disadvantages: the constant BAD publicity we get

...I thought I'd write an opinion on my home city Liverpool, as I'm totally sick of the stereo-typical bad press we constantly get off the Manchester and London biased media. Liverpool has a huge ammount to offer visitors (as is shown in the figures that Liverpool is the 3rd most visited place in England, after London and Blackpool) and is despite what alot of people think a very friendly city to visit. If you are thinking of visiting somewhere, where better than the home of "The most famous band in the world" The Beatles and their "world famous" museum, Two of the most famous and successful football clubs in Europe in Liverpool and Everton (well I have to be honest dont I, Everton are a big club pity they are crap LOL), we have endless listed buildings and wonderful sites, there is the "World famous" Mersey ferries, The Liver...

Lively Liverpool

Advantages: I live here
Disadvantages: Some shops aren't here, the weather

...Cavern. Whether you want to party or just relax, you're guaranteed to find something to do in Liverpool. I'd recommend: So many of the bars but one I really enjoy is Rat & Parrot at Queen's Square. SHOPPING: Liverpool is good for shopping but it lacks some of the shops you'd find in London or Manchester, e.g. Mango, Debenhams and Selfridges. That said, I've never found it to be a problem - I'm sure any woman could still spend all day shopping here. Most of the shops are located on Church Street (Marks and Spencer, Next, Topshop, HMV and others), although a wander along to Bold Street (Karen Millen) or Lord Street (French Connection, GAP) as well as St. John's Precinct and Clayton Square is recommended if you're going on a major spree. There are plenty of cafés to rest your weary feet at - I highly recommend Liverpool bakers Sayers...

Liverpool in trouble

Advantages: One of the biggest clubs in Europe...
Disadvantages: ...going through their worst run in 50 years.

...Picture the scene; it's early November and after a 2-0 win against West Ham, Liverpool went seven points clear at the top of the Premiership and were striding towards a place in the next round of the Champions League, it appeared that it would have to take something very special to knock them out of their stride. Three months on and defeats to the likes of Middlesborough and Sunderland have seen Liverpool slump down the Premiership with no wins in eleven games and an early exit from the Champion League at the hands of little known Swiss club Basle. So where has it all gone wrong for the mighty reds? Every pundit, fan and his dog has had their two pence worth. Excuses and reasons range from poor management and lack of commitment from the players, to wrong formation and wrong players. I think the problem is much simpler...

Its not so Lonely in Australia!

Advantages: So much information
Disadvantages: Slightly bulky to carry

...+ Lonely Planet - Australia + The lonely planet Australia book is a must of you are travelling around Australia. It gives you lots of very useful information about the country, things to do and see, currently and lots more. As I was planning my trip and didn't have a clue on what there was to do and see in this large country so I decided to get this book and I was very pleased with it. + CONTENTS + This book has everything imaginable that you could need to try and plan an itinerary by yourself. Memories are made of this Liverpool

Advantages: A superb City
Disadvantages: difficult to leave, you have to return

...on Scooters in Sefton Park... ~~~ o0o0o ~~~ The Mersey Tunnels seem to take you to the other side of the world as a kid and were always the beginning of a day out to Chester Zoo for us, and what about the Theatres and Cinemas lots of them, with all sorts of things being show or going on..even the Cathedral (C of E) hosted the annual Spinners concerts, and the bombed out church..a constant reminder of the war..I watched the new R.C. Cathedral being built ( at the time it looked like an appolo space capsule), Liverpool people loved to talk to strangers and find out about you, there were no other motives, we loved to play about, tell stories, jokes, act, sing, dance, if we didn;t have any money for guitars or other instruments we'd improvise, washboards, upturned pans etc... we'd make our own music..the advent of Skiffle... The group...

Liverpool Lovelies Trilogy Part Three

Advantages: We met up
Disadvantages: They had to travel ages to get here

...***FOREWORD*** OK, some people haven't seem to have copped on to what this opinion is about... It is actually part of a trilogy with Juliemaker (Part1) and Cheekychicken (Part2) concerning our meeting up in Liverpool. It is not a guide to the City itself , rather a guide to our night out YOU MAY CONTINUE..... Liverpool. John, Paul George and Ringo . The less said about Jimmy Tarbuck , Stan Boardman and Atomic Kitten the better. The birthplace of the Beatles. So it was only fitting that I took my guests to Matthew Street, home of The Cavern and a dozen other Beatles themed establishments. Personally, I prefer the Jacaranda on Slater Street, that still has the wall murals painted by Messer’s Lennon and Sutcliffe but Rubber Soul on Matthew Street is an eclectically cheesy warm welcome to Merseyside. So, it was there where...

Welcome to Liverpool

Advantages: Cheapand Fun
Disadvantages: LOUD!

.... The city also has a good range of second hand shops to suit everyone and traditional Markets for bargain hunters. The Albert Dock complex and Award winning Cavern Walks are a great place to browse. Liverpool is a large commercial city, built on great maritime success and proud of it’s heritage. The sea and shipping have been an integral part of the city for centuries. In 1999 the river Mersey won global acclaim when voted the best river clean up beating more than 110 rivers including The Thames, Mississippi and Rhine at a major conference in Australia. The cities two Uni’s and several other Higher Education Institutions are all working together to make Liverpool a City of Learning. So as I have said it is a popular city. The city is undergoing substantial regeneration and is being transformed, often with major funding...
