Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Advantages: Great multiplayer fun, lots to do
Disadvantages: Slightly Repetetive
...The Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has been with us for a while now, and it hasn't been too badly received either amongst the Wii-mote waving, button bashing members of the public out there, so now that the DS version has finally arrived, should these same gamers still be as excited as they were the first time around?
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the DS is certainly not short on features, 16 playable characters have all been included, each of which are split into four categories such speed, skill, power and the all rounder's, therefore you can choose which characters you would prefer to use for each event based on their ability. The game also offers plenty of choice when it comes to events, these range from sprinting, swimming and cycling to more specialist events such as fencing and gymnastics...

==Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii)==
Advantages: variety of games to play
Disadvantages: Slow loading
...Mario & Sonic at the olympic games was the first game i bought after getting a Wii for christmas.
I personally think that it is an excellent first game to get for the Wii. You can happily play for hours and hours becuase of the wide variety of events you can play. These events include;
*"Swimming"
*"Archery"
*"Running"
*"Hurdles"
*"Long jump"
*"Triple jump"
*High jump"
*"Pole vault"
*"Hammer throw"
*"Javeline throw"
*"Epée"
*"Trampoline"
*"Vault"
*"Rowing"
*"Skeet"
*"Tennis"
So as you can see by this list you have a wide variety to choose from but you also have the options of unlocking different games, this can be done by breaking records and so on. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is fun for all the family to enjoy because it has a multiplayer option of upto 4 people. You also get to choose from all your favourite...

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii)
Advantages: Great fun, realistic actions
Disadvantages: Will tire you out easily
...During the 1990s, if you had a games console you would have probably been in one of two camps: Sega or Nintendo. I certainly was rooted firmly in the Sega camp having had a Mega Drive for many, many years with games like Street of Rage, Ecco the Dolphin and of course, Sonic the Hedgehog. I was a huge Sonic fan, playing the first and second game until completion and then starting up again a few days later as I loved everything about it, the colours, the gameplay.... everything.
So if you tried to convince me that some 10-15 years later that Sonic and Mario would team up in a game, I probably would have just laughed. Back then it would have been an absurd thought but one that any magazine reviewer or computer game fanboy would have only dreamed about.
Well January 2008 saw this realisation with the release of Sonic & Mario...

Now you can compete in the olympic games
Advantages: fun, variety of events
Disadvantages: muscle strain
...Having seen the advert for this game i was desperate to buy it as i have not had my wii for that long and i do not have many games. I eventually bought this game and i am so glad that i did as it is great fun.
Players
This game can be played as a one player or multiplayer as long as you have a wii remote for each player. Also you will need a nunchuck for each player although some of the games you can play with just the remote.
Characters
In this game you can play as characters from either sonic or mario such as sonic, tails, mario, princess daisy and yoshi. Each of the characters have different abilities which are split into speed, skill, power and stamina. you can choose a character who is a speed, skill, power or all around type which means that if you are playing a running game you would choose a character from the speed type...

PUZZLED.
Advantages: Gets kids away from the television into interaction with others.
Disadvantages: Fiddly and time consuming, but can be fun.
...Jigsaw puzzles used to be boring. The pictures were limited to little houses in the country, or seascapes, although over the years, what happened is that companies found that the idea of slotting little pieces of cardboard together with popular. What was not popular was the small range of pictures on the jigsaws, which was something that was easy to put right.
I have been doing jigsaws for years, not as much as my mother in law or mother, though in order to capture the imagination of people like me that want something more of a challenge than a simple puzzle, the range that is available now is astounding.
Let's take the basic jigsaw.
The basic jigsaw puzzle is still a super idea for elderly people whose sight is still good. My mother in law loves doing them, and the range available on sites like Alljigsawpuzzles.com is amazing...

Puzzling
Advantages: fun, exercises the mind, varying difficulty levels
Disadvantages: not available everywhere
...In recent years, I think mainly due to a disasterous tsunami of the giant wave variety, tsunami puzzles seem to have undergone a name change. The puzzles I once thought were called tsunami can now be found in WH Smiths in monthly puzzle magazines, calling themselve hanjie.
These are my favourite form of logic problem, and I've tried many. What you have is a grid. On each row and each column are a series of numbers, for example 5 7 or 1 1 8. A row labelled 5 7 will have some unknown number of white squares, then 5 coloured squares, then at least one white square, then 7 coloured squares, ending with an unknown number of white squares. Similarly, a column labelled 1 1 8 will have a single coloured square, then another, then eight coloured squares, with an unknown number of white squares between and on either side of them. The purpose...

Puzzling pets
Advantages: good puzzles
Disadvantages: None
...Orchard toys make many good toys and puzzles we have several of them at work.
One of the toys we have is the box of 6, 2 piece puzzles of pets.
These puzzles are suitable for children aged 18 months and over. I use them with older special needs pupils. Although the pictures of the pets are cute and big eyed they are not over babyish.
Included in this set of 6 puzzles is a budgie, a dog, a cat, a goldfish, a hamster and rabbit all animals that children may be familiar with. They are good realistic colours.
These puzzles are made of a thick durable recycled board. The surface is a wipe clean one.
These individual 2 piece puzzles are shaped around the outline of the pictured animal no straight edges. Each one cut in approximate half. The way you fit the two pieces of each animal together is by the cojoining male and female...

Puzzle Pirates
Advantages: Great Game
Disadvantages: Cartoon Graphics.
...pirates remains in a state of war, but with a friendly aspect, battles are schedualed and fighting between individual pirates does not occour. It is also not possible to die in the game in anyway, but loss of limb if your ship is sunk in a sea battle is possible.
There is also a gambling aspect to the game in which players can play each other for money in several games such as poker, spades, hearts, sword and fist fighting (represented by puzzles) etc.
This is definately a great game for those who like a strong multiplayer aspect, the only drawback being that it looks a bit cartoony so it may be embarassing to be seen playing it as people may mistake it for a children's game....

A Puzzling Wonder!
Advantages: Good quality puzzles, clear pictures, varying difficulties
Disadvantages: None
...and Nick Jr 2 a few times and Harry is obsessed. I had a voucher on Amazon and bought an album with it, and had a few pounds left over so I decided to treat Harry and this was what I chose. The puzzle is manufactured by Ravensburger who make lots of quality puzzles so I knew I'd be getting a good toy for Harry.
The box contains 4 different puzzles of varying difficulties so these should last your toddler for a while. There is a 12 piece, 16 piece, 20 piece and 24 piece puzzles, and they are recommended for 3 years plus as some of the puzzles have quite small pieces. Each of the puzzles depicts a different scene that features each of the 3 Wonder Pets, Linny the Guinea Pig, Ming Ming Duckling and Turtle Tuck. The puzzles are all the same when completed, around 10" by 8" which is a good size and big enough for a child to see the image nicely...

Marymoose and friends get Puzzled!
Advantages: Anti Gravity room, Little/big room, value for money
Disadvantages: Expensive shop, some exhibits a bit tired looking
..................................................................................................
Intro
I love the August Bank Holiday weekend - hubby goes off diving with another woman and my friends come up to stay (the legendary G, K, S & R) to keep me company and a weekend of fun, frolics and lots of booze commences ? highlights including the rewriting of ?Who Killed Cock Robin? and keeping our poor neighbours awake with midnight renditions of ?Babooshka? and ?No Limit? on Singstar.
Where is it?
Anyway, whilst out and about in Keswick on a relatively miserable (well, it?s hardly traditional August weather) Saturday I decided to take them to ?The Puzzling Place? which is located just off the high street (there are signposts if you?re struggling to find it) in Museum Square ? amazing (well, puzzling?) that loads...
