Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...just going to be another yawnsome sex-fest, but it wasn’t. Rather charmingly, the sex was written about in a fairly coy way. You followed the preliminaries and the aftermath, but the actual act tended to be described with the use of stars, before continuing with the next part. I much prefer this to orgasmic romps on sun-kissed beaches. The novel is light and frothy, fun and lively, interesting and compelling. We empathise with the characters early on and are soon rooting for X’s relationship with Y to break up, or for A to get together with B. I also associated with the main characters so quickly because they are women and around my age, so that helped too. Outstays its welcome

Advantages: Lots of up-tempo music
Disadvantages: Sounds too much like a solo Minnelli album

...The Act is a musical by my favourite Broadway team of songwriters, John Kander and Fred Ebb, and yet I always find it a little disappointing. Famous for writing Cabaret, Chicago and New York, New York, the two of them supplied a series of star turns for Liza Minnelli, as a nightclub star, and hence the C sounds very much like a Liza album, with a couple of other tracks thrown in. The songs aren't bad, and some of them are rather good indeed. 'Arthur in the Afternoon'. for example, is top notch comedy, delivered perfectly by Liza, and the number sung by the chorus members (presumably while Liza had forty winks to get her breath back), 'Little Do They Know', works very well as an insiders view of being a Broadway-type dancer. There is also a lovely ballad called 'My Own Space', which Minnelli carries off fairly well. Unfortunately...

...My recent quest for FREE DVD hire I visited and many DVD web sites that offered a free trial. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk. Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. With Blockbuster?s things are different slightly ? which add a great deal of benefit to us the customer. ...Before I bought this DVD player Id never really owned a DVD player before. I had however had and still do have a ps2 on which I used to play my DVDs. I never really went and still don’t go on this so much so I was going to sell it and buy a DVD player. In the end I decided to just keep the ps2 and to get a cheaper DVD player than I was looking for in the first place. The main reason why I wanted a new DVD instead of the one in the ps2 was so I could play divx format DVDs on it. The DVD player in a ps2 doesn’t recognise this format and scene as I have several divx movies already on disk and on my laptop to put onto disk then I wanted a DVD player that would recognise and play this format. Another plus to this format is that it saves space on disks as it compresses movies into smaller file sizes without compromising...
