...The idea of a holiday in Canada was one that had crossed my mind a few times in the past, without me ever getting past the vague planning stage. It always seemed too far away, too expensive, or just too much like hard work... but then back in early 2008, I happened to see a mail from Condor offering cheap flights to destinations all over the world. Normally I wouldn't bother clicking on any of the links, but one line in particular caught my eye: "Fly to Halifax, Nova Scotia, for ?99 per person". And there really were still seats available at that price - not during high season of course, but we'd heard that autumn on the eastern seaboard really is a great time to visit, so this was an offer we couldn't refuse. Should you be considering a visit to Nova Scotia, don't be put off by the idea of travelling outside of the traditional summer...

Location, Location is an informative property programme

Advantages: Gives you lots of ideas that you cant possibly afford to carry out!

One thing that has always puzzled me is Kirsties determination to keep her black mac wrapped tightly around her, more often than not it is tied like a sack in the middle! In many of the programmes the sun has appeared to be shining and there is Kirstie sweating it out in her black belted garb. Phil always seems to favour the casual approach, the slacks, the open necked shirt and the favourite old jacket. It is always interesting when they meet the prospective house buyers for the first time, you can immediately sense whether there will be an instant rapport or whether some animosity may well creep in at some point within the next hour. Sweet Sound Echo Location

Advantages: Chill out music, Good Value CD
Disadvantages: Not widely known of, not always available in high st shops

...Some of my best buys have come about completely by accident and this is another. I came across Honeyroot in July 2004, a month after their debut album; Sound Echo Location was released on the Just Music label. I was actually looking to buy a CD for a friend's birthday, a Jon Hopkins CD, none were in stock so I took a listen to the sample tracks available and I was mesmerised..... Honeyroot were founded by ex-Heaven 17 (Temptation, We Don't Need This Fascist Grove Thing) front man Glenn Gregory & ex-ABC member, Keith Lowndes. Now, you'd have thought with both of these contentious characters any music that was as a result of a musical partnership, would be heavily influenced by the 80's music scene, you couldn't be more wrong. Imagine lying on a beach in Ibiza (or similar clubbers paradise), imagine a night filled with clubbing...

Where is your ideal location, location, location?

Advantages: Phil is very funny, great to nosy around peoples houses.
Disadvantages: Kirstie's moaning can get a bit much.

The show meets couples, relatives or friends who want to buy a property. Phil & Kirstie will get together with them and discuss their requirements such as how many bedrooms are required & which area they would like to live in or near. They will also find out the budget they have and sometimes Phil & Kirstie will work together to find properties and other times they will go head to head and both try and find the dream property that will be picked at the end by the participants. Kirstie and Phil are both professional property hunters and aspire to help others full-fill their property dreams. On what at times can be a very tight budget. They both have other property related ventures away from the television set. Kirstie has her own 'moving sense' brand which is a fragranced candle to use if you're trying to sell your house. Phil writes for a very luxurious magazine 'lusso luxury'. Giving readers advice about anything property related. The magazine is only £4.40 so what are you missing?? Advantages: Entertaining, lots of useful tips and advice

...Property shows are very popular right now and are loads out there: A Place In The Sun, Property Ladder, House Auction, Selling Houses, Relocation Relocation Relocation, and my favourite, Location Location Location, which is the predecessor of Relocation x3. Each show, Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp help aspiring homeowners find their ideal home. They organise viewings to four different properties, in the hope of finding their dream house, and Phil and Kirstie dish out useful tips and advice on buying a house along the way. This sounds very simple, boring in fact, but believe me, it's not! There are a million and one property shows around right now, but this is one of the originals and definitely the best. Blame (Air) Canada

Advantages: decent service, good flight itinerary
Disadvantages: pervading sense of incompetence, baggage disasters

...Canadian and famously stringent US immigration in one go, we would have to collect our baggage in Toronto, have it checked by US customs, and pop it back into the system. In Orlando, we had to cart our luggage over to a security booth for a once over (and opened) before it could be tagged and strapped and sent on its way. All in all, check-in was as smooth as it could be, civilised and fairly efficient. No problems there, then. BOARDING The first hint that some of the employees of Air Canada, armed with an atlas and both hands, STILL can't locate the whereabouts of their rear end. In LHR, departure was delayed by almost an hour because boarding did not begin unti five minutes before the departure time, and was not organised, as it should be, by boarding from rear rows forward. Instead a crush of bored and inanely drivelling passengers...

Oh canada.

Advantages: Great airline

Air Canada is simply one of the best airlines I have flown on. Their staff are warm and friendly, their fleet is modern and comfortable and the whole company are a 1st class outfit. Thomas Cook Tour. Eastern Canada

Advantages: Guided tour, Spendid views, Great company.
Disadvantages: Occasional extra costs

On this tour were 44 people from different walks of life, and we got on well with all of them. This made a great atmosphere, especially in the hotels. All the hotels are hand-picked by Thomas Cook and are of high quality. (minimum 4*). Thomas Cook have a holiday manager with you from your arrival at Heathrow airport, right through your tour until you arrive back at Heathrow. Location, Location, Location

Advantages: Good tips on what to do when purchasing a house
Disadvantages: :Dislike the word 'crash pad' (which is used quite often)

...I really like Location, Location, Location. The current series is on Channel 4 at 8pm every Wednesday. The presenters Phil and Kirsty help 2 sets of potential buyers look for a house each week. Phil and Kirsty work really well together and have great chemistry. I like the way Kirsty has become more outspoken as each series progresses. She doesn't hold back if the clients are being difficult. I find it harder to relate to the programmes when the person/couple has a budget of £600,000, but I really enjoy the programmes with a lower budget. I think they really work well with first time buyers and are quite patient with them. It also gives the viewer a chance to see the house prices across the UK and Ireland and what you can get for your money. They also give some useful tips on what to look for when you are purchasing a house...
