Loch Fyne - delicious!
Advantages: Fantastic food, great service, lovely atmosphere
Disadvantages: none
...Loch Fyne in Nottingham, one of 49 branches in the country, is situated right in the city centre in a great location on King Street. Transport links are great, with a multi-storey car park a few hundred yards down the road, as well as the taxi ranks, bus stops and tram stops.
The restaurant is small, but nicely furnished, and offers a good variety of seafood dishes. The decor is lovely inside, and the staff are always warm and welcoming. The food is always of a very high standard, but the atmosphere remains relaxed and friendly.
Although Loch Fyne specialises in using the finest seafood ingredients, there are always one or two alternative options for those who are not keen on fish. However, in general the restaurant would not be recommended for those who are not keen on seafood! The dishes include fish such as salmon, sole, lobster...

Delicious Loch Fyne
Advantages: Fresh and fantastic seafood
Disadvantages: Extremely slow waiter service.
...If anyone asks me 'So where do you feel like eating tonight?' my instant response is always " Loch Fyne!"
This Scottish chain restaurant is an absolute must for seafood lovers. Even if you don't know many people who like seafood drag them there because I guarantee they will enjoy it as much as you.
Loch Fyne itself is a scenic Loch in Scotland in Cairndow, and all the produce you will see in the restaurant is shipped over night from this location.
The restaurant itself it located in Guildford's old Centenary Hall , a beautiful listed building in the centre of town which really encapsulates the feel of Guildford itself. Upon entry there is a small seating area by a bar where you can order a pre dinner drink and wait for your table to be ready. You are then lead up the stairs to the dining area which is full of lovely wooden beams...

One Fyne Day
Advantages: Well presented selection of fish and seafood. Terraced outside dining area. Location and views.
Disadvantages: A rather noisy venue. Expensive if you want any "extras".
...I must admit that we approached eating at the Loch Fyne outlet in Midhurst with a degree of trepidation. We?d heard more than one report from colleagues and friends of poor service and average to dreadful food. One group dining there at Christmas reported receiving undercooked main courses for which they had waited over an hour. They evidently demanded, and received, a full refund on their meal - and so they should. It?s fairly common knowledge in the area that the restaurant went through a ?troubled? period when they first opened in 2007. But as they say, you tell an average of ten people about a bad experience, so the rumours may have been blown out of proportion and we needed to make our own minds up (a kind of ?the proof of the pudding is in the eating? scenario!). An added incentive of a £20.00 discount voucher swung...

A Fyne place to dine
Advantages: Great atmosphere and food
Disadvantages: If you don't like sea food, not great
...the protection of all forms of maritime life and do not fish endangered stock. Looking at the quantity of water life being eaten in just one night, this is probably just as well.

Lots of information about the various restaurants.
~~Verdict~~
For anyone who enjoys sea food, it's a great place to eat, but if you really can't stomach it, then don't go- fish smells are quite strong even from one fish!
The restaurant itself is well set out and has a great atmosphere- plenty of customers, attentive staff and a welcome absence of loud music.
The food is well presented and delicious and the menu features plenty for everyone; water life, meat...

A Fyne time was had by all!
Advantages: Great food, excellent service
Disadvantages: Only seats 56--which is a disadvantage if you're not one of them!
...Located right in the heart of Nottingham city centre, just a stones throw from the bus and tram stops, Loch Fyne is a small restaurant that specializes in seafood and fish dishes, many of the ingredients being provided by their sister company, Loch Fyne Oysters.
We visited a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't our first visit; we'd been several times before. As well as myself, my parents were also with me as they were celebrating their 26th wedding anniversary, and with the restaurant being one of the smarter places to eat in Nottingham, the relaxed and cosy atmosphere made it a lot less stuffy, and perfect for a treat.
Atmosphere
***********
It?s a relatively small restaurant, only seating 56 people, and it has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere at any time of day. Because of its early closing time, 9.30, it also has the advantage...

FYNE DINING
Advantages: Good Scottish seafood
Disadvantages: in North london?
...Last week, while working down in London I was pleasantly surprised to be stopped at 6pm when my colleague received a phone call from the boss (not necessarily 'my boss'). "Stop what you're doing and get yourselves cleaned up - let's go out to eat." This was pretty much the gist of the conversation.
Not needing to be told twice, we practically met ourselves coming back.
And so it was that, after a few libations in some pub on the High St, we stagge...strolled along to the Loch Fyne Restaurant in Barnet.
Loch Fyne Restaurants - A chain of Scottish seafood restaurants specialising in fish and shellfish from the area of the west coast of Scotland.
This is the first time I'd visited one of these restaurants, as it was for my colleague and only the second time for the boss. Strange for 3 Jocks not to have frequented such...

Stuffguts Has A Fyne Tyme
Advantages: Excellent "aquatic" menu
Disadvantages: Quite expensive for a bistro atmosphere
...It?s very easy to go continually to the same restaurant. Once you find one that suits your taste and pocket, inertia has a lot to be said for it.
However, once in a while, we do like to kicks over the traces and branch out.
Last Saturday evening was one such occasion.
Loch Fyne Restaurants are a national chain of eateries specialising in fish and other seafood. Actually, ?national chain? might be too grand a description, since there are currently 22 branches with a heavy South-Of-The-Wash bias, these being -
Bath, Beaconsfield, Brighton, Cairndow, Cambridge, Covent Garden, Crouch End, Egham, Elton, Fulham Road, Hadley Highstone, Henley-on-Thames, Knowle, Loughton, Nottingham, Norwich, Oxford, Reading, Sevenoaks, Twickenham, and Winchester. They are however expanding.
With a parent company in Argyll, Scotland, dedicated to...

Fyne Steak and Views
Advantages: Wonderful views, meals perfected
Disadvantages: Secluded so can't have as much wine, not one in Manchester
...Loch Fyne Review
First Impressions
The Loch Fyne Oyster Bar is in Cairndow, Argyll. You can?t miss it on the road from Glasgow to Inverary. There is nowhere else to have a drink beforehand as this place is secluded and beautiful, boasting views across Loch Fyne from many of its windows. We had drunk in plenty of the Loch view over our holiday and chose to sit in a quite private booth with high sides and red leather seats.
This is the original Loch Fyne restaurant, since their success here, they have gone on to open 31 further restaurants around the UK:
WARNING ? The signs say ?Serving food all day?.
NOTE: All day ends at seven
On arrival were asked if we had booked in advance, when we answered negatively we were asked to take a seat. As we had arrived at half seven and the website says they take their last orders...

Relaxation in Inveraray
Advantages: Scenery & facilities
Disadvantages: Car a must if you plan to visit the surrounding areas
...The hotel is situated in Inveraray, Argyll Scotland and is situated on the banks of Loch Fyne. With panoramic views across the loch, its a relaxing setting, the hotel itself has 74 rooms which are split between junior suites which have loch views executive Rooms and standard rooms. We stayed in a standard room which has all the facilities you would expect from a hotel, including fab little bathroom extras such as posh shower gel and soap. The room was comfortable, warm and clean and a pleasure to stay in.
A huge plus we found was the food - being vegetarian I find that it's sometime difficult to get fed in hotels but this wasn't an issue in the Loch Fyne Hotel. We were booked in on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis - each day the menu choices are on the wall facing the reception and there were always more than one vegetarian...

The Invergarry Hotel near Loch Ness
Advantages: Lovely location, good food
Disadvantages: Restuarant quite expensive and very busy
...for concern considering the price but I was soon to discover that there was an endless supply of fresh vegetables, including potatoes so I think it will be fair to say that I got my moneys worth.
The Hotel itself is steeped in history and dates from 1885. It was originally the seat of the Clan Macdonnell, built by Edward Ellice who later purchased the nearby Glengarry Estate and its castle from the Macdonnells. It was then used as a stagecoach inn and today still retains much of its original charm and character. The present owners purchased the hotel in 2006 and are very much involved in its everyday running, they can often be seen pulling pints in the public bar or clearing tables in the restaurant.
The hotel also owns the entire fishing rights to over 3 miles of the River Garry and nearby Loch Oich. Fishing permits can be obtained from...
